South Dakota events still on, without grandstand spectators

JEFFERSON, S.D. (July 20) – Ethan Braaksma grew up watching the IMCA Modified Dirt Knights and wondering what it would be like to race with them. On Monday night, the young Iowan became a first-time winner when the 2020 Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour opened at Park Jefferson Speedway.  Braaksma passed veteran Bob Moore on the 18th of 25 laps, then led the defending track champion through lapped traffic and across the finish line. The win paid $1,500 and put Braaksma on the ballot for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “I knew I had to keep my momentum up. JEFFERSON, S.D. – The eighth annual running of the IMCA Iron Cup at Park Jefferson Speedway is coming on Aug. 9-10. One of the crown jewels of racing in Siouxland, the pursuit for coveted Iron Cups brings very fierce competition to Park Jefferson Speedway. Monday, Aug. 9 will feature the preliminary night of action as IMCA Modifieds run a format that mirrors the Marshalltown Speedway World Nationals. Drivers will compete in a pair of rounds of heat races to lock the top drivers in points into the “A” feature. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts will run a complete, separate program featuring draw/redraw IMCA procedures. Tuesday, Aug. 10 will be championship night when the Iron Cups are awarded in all five divisions.
