Maquoketa Speedway to host June 1 Stead Family Children’s Hospital Night

MAQUOKETA, Iowa – On Saturday, June 1, Trackside Promotions will hold a special night of racing at Maquoketa Speedway. It is to be declared UIHC Stead Family Children’s Hospital Night with special guest Ken Schrader. Mr. Jerre Stead was born and raised in Maquoketa. This will be the first major fundraiser since the opening of the Stead Family Children’s Hospital in 2017. Funds will be raised in Maquoketa, Trackside Promotion will be donating a portion of the front gate ticket sales, the Jackson County Fair Board will be donating percentage of the profit for the concessions and there will be a 50/50 raffle, along with a helmet collection by the drivers and their crews during intermission.  All former patients and their immediate family members will be admitted and seated in the reserved seating free of charge. Deery Series is Quad City Speedway bound for Memorial Weekend show

EAST MOLINE, Ill. – A Memorial Weekend date takes the Deery Brothers Summer Series to Quad City Speedway.  IMCA Late Models run for $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start their Sunday, May 26 main event at East Moline.  Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 3:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:15 with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $8 for seniors and students ages 6-12, and free for five and under. Pit passes are $35.  Sunday’s event will be the 492nd in series history, with 21 of those previous races held at East Moline. Ray Guss Jr. of Milan leads all drivers with three local tour victories; defending champion Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, winner of the opening night event this spring, topped the Quad City show last May. Rebels team with Sprint Series of Oklahoma for Memorial Weekend doubleheader

By David Smith, Jr., OKTidbits  OBERLIN, Kan. – Two of the premier IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car groups in the nation face off during the Memorial Weekend as the POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambel­ton Ford Racing and the Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Prod­ucts are geared for a weekend double-header.  It all starts on Saturday night, May 25 at Longdale Speedway in Longdale, Okla., before heading to 81 Speedway in Wichita, Kan., for a special Sunday night event.  Saturday will be the only 2019 appearance between the two series at Longdale, where the track has hosted two previous events. Both tours got rained out in 2018 but it was 2017 when the URSS and SSO met and it was three-time and defending SSO champion Andy Shouse of Oklahoma City getting the best of a 20-car field.  In 2016, 26 cars were pit side and it was Ness City, Kan., driver Luke Cranston picking up the victory. Santa Maria Spring Nationals set during Memorial Weekend

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,200 to win in Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational bal­lot-qualifying features both nights of Santa Maria Raceway’s Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26 Spring Na­tion­als.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region, E3 Spark Plugs State and track points will be awarded each night of the Memorial Weekend special. Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods race for $1,000 to win, plus national, state and track points on Sunday.  Entry fee each night for the Modifieds is $50 and pit passes are $45. Non-qualifiers get their entry fee refunded. Pit gates open at 9 a.m., the pit booth opens at noon, grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 5 p.m. both days. CRESWELL, Ore. – Sitting in staging at Cottage Grove Speedway, Paul Culp knew he had to have a picture taken of the cars lined up ahead of him. All three had fuel cells manufactured by his Creswell, Ore., company, a new sponsor for both IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Late Models. Superior Fuel Cells will give 22-gallon fuel cells to national rookies of the year in both divisions, as well as $100 product certificates to sixth through 10th place drivers in each of the five Modified regions. “We are a family business. SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. – Three IMCA divisions are on the card both nights of Arizona Speedway’s Memorial Weekend John Morris Classic. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berths while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods both chase top checks of $500 at Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26 shows.  Both programs are draw/redraw and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, E3 Spark Plugs Arizona State and track points will be awarded. IMCA Modifieds chase $1,038 check at Siskiyou’s May 26 Arnberg Memorial

YREKA, Calif. – IMCA Modifieds headline Siskiyou Golden Speedway’s John Arnberg Memorial, running for $1,038 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth in their Sunday, May 26 special. The main event will be 38 laps – Arnberg’s car number was 38 – and pay a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Re­gion, E3 Spark Plugs California State and track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at noon on race day. Sports Park Raceway postponed, Benton County Speedway to host Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights opener

FORT DODGE, Iowa (May 21) – Rain has been declared the winner of tonight’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour event at Sports Park Raceway.  The Fort Dodge speedplant was to host opening night for the 10th annual tour for IMCA Modifieds Tuesday evening. IMCA and track officials hope to reschedule that race for later this summer. The tour now gets underway on Memorial Day with a $1,500 to win, minimum $150 to start show at Benton County Speedway in Vinton. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods complete the Monday, May 27 program, to be broadcast by IMCA.TV.  The traditional home track of the IMCA Modified division, Benton County has hosted eight Dirt Knights Tour events since 2011, each of which resulted in a different winner. Full house on hand for Dawson County opener

(May 19) – Racing action was hot and heavy on opening night Sunday at Dawson County Raceway, in front of a jam-packed house.  Looking to start the season off on the right foot at Lexington were a large contingent of competitors hop­ing to drive their way to Coca Cola Victory Lane. The foursome of Jordan Grabouski, David Johnson, Brax­ton Berry and Ramsey Meyer were victors.  Grabouski led much of the way and finished strong in the Holbein Lawn Service/K Lawn IMCA Modified feature. The defending national champion worked his magic on the top groove to get into the lead on the 12th lap and never looked back. In one of the most heated and action-packed features of the night, it was Grabouski of Beatrice earning the Levanders Body Shop IMCA Stock Car victory. Grabouski started 14th and got the lead on lap 13, then held off all challenges to garner top honors.
