Four IMCA drivers see victory lane to open season at Outagamie

SEYMOUR, Wis. (May 3, 2024) – Mother Nature was a race fan this week as the 2024 racing season kicked off at the Outagamie Speedway presented by Klink Equipment and Elite Coatings.  A full pit area of 132 cars signed in for night one action.

IMCA feature winners on the night included Colton See, Brandon Czarapata, Konnor Wilinski, and Taylor Junk.

Cole Slezewski led early in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature before giving way to See.  See was soon chased by Derek Fehling.  See saw his way through lapped traffic better though and was able to keep Fehling at bay.

In the end it was See followed by Fehling and Jake Carpenter.

The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature was more exciting than Thor at a 2-for-1 hammer sale.

Czarapata and Josh Mroczkowski dueled early with Rod Snellenberger and Mike Mullen tight behind them. Mullen soon moved to second and showed the nose of his car to Czarapata multiple times.

Mullen took the lead on lap nine but it was Czarapata storming back to the lead the next circuit. Mullen then took the lead right back. Czarapata tucked his car under Mullen entering turn one of lap 15 to retake the lead one more time.

A late-race yellow bunched the field up but Czarapata would not be deterred. It would be Czarapata followed by Mullen and Snellenberger at the finish.

Derek Jahnke led the first two laps of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature before Wilinski took over. Wilinski held serve the rest of the way as he held off a late challenge from Brian Mullen.  Wilinski, Mullen and Johnny Whitman took occupancy in the top three. 

The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature saw Taylor Junk score the win over Thomas Schulte and Al Cottrell.  

Racing will continue next Friday night as late models will join the action along with the regular weekly divisions. Pits open at 4 p.m., the grandstands open at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 p.m.

Lamberies leads the way at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (May 19, 2023) – Lucas Lamberies led the way to the checkers Friday night, in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Outagamie Speedway. Lucas Lamberies paced the opening laps with defending track champion Jayden Schmidt giving chase. Lamberies worked the cushion to perfection opening his advantage over second. Lamberies carved his way through lap track traffic enroute to his first win of the season. Schmidt had to settle for second at the pay window, Josh Long was third and Cody Schroeder took fourth.   In Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod action it was Mathew Radtke setting the pace early until Mason Woods came storming by on lap five. Woods led the rest of the way to score his first win of the season. Schmidt sweeps IMCA Modified action at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz  SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 31) – Night six of the season saw 120-plus cars on action and Jamie Schmidt proved to be the fastest of the 41 IMCA Modifieds entered. Mark Schuenemann shot to the lead of the Modified feature from the front row as Schmidt, Ja­son Czarapata and Benji LaCrosse gave chase. Schuenemann worked the outside groove with the competition hot on his heals running the same groove. A caution with three laps remaining changed everything. As the race resumed, Schuenemann went to the bottom groove, which allowed Schmidt to slip by up top. Schmidt pulled away to score the win and a clean sweep to boot. Lucas Lamberies made a late race charge to place second, Schuenemann was third, LaCrosse took fourth and Jason Czarapata completed the top five. After a rough start, the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature resumed with Tim Paitrick pacing the field be­fore Eric Arneson stormed by for the top spot on lap five. LaCrosse, Richards lead the way at Outagamie Speedway

By Edward Anschutz   SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 3) – Benji LaCrosse and Kenny Richards were IMCA winners Tuesday night at Outagamie Speedway. Kelsy Hayes paced the opening laps of the IMCA Modified feature until Greg Gretz raced by up top on lap three. Gretz immediately came under fire from LaCrosse, who was able to slip by for the lead on five. Gretz was up for the challenge and dogged the leader until midway, when Johnny Whitman came to call, racing to second and setting the fastest laps on the track. A caution with three laps remaining bunched the field. As the green flew LaCrosse kept the competition at bay to score the feature win. Whitman had to settle for second, Brian Mullen rallied late to place third, Gretz was fourth and Wyatt Block Jr. rounded out the top five. Action was red flagged on the opening lap of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature as a multi-car crash saw Travis Van Straten end up on his roof.
