PASS to joins All Stars Sunday at Selinsgrove

SELINSGROVE, Pa. (Aug. 18, 2023) – The River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series joins Tony Stewart’s Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions this Sunday at Selinsgrove Speedway to honor the memory of one of the region’s legendary sprint car drivers, Kramer Williamson, with the running of the Kramer Cup.

The IMCA RaceSaver sprinters will run qualifying events and a 20-lap feature in support of the All Star’s $10,000-to-win feature.

Coming off a super successful weekend that saw 41-car fields at both Lincoln and Bedford Fairgrounds Speedways, PASS will be looking for another strong turnout to turn heads among those on hand for the traveling All Stars.

Leading the group will be point leader Logan Spahr, who has won nine of the first 20 PASS features run this year and is looking at the possibility of setting a single-season victory record, set by Logan Wagner in 2013 and tied by Garrett Bard last season, with 12 wins each.

Spahr scored a dominating victory Sunday in the Junior Ritchey Tribute at Bedford, but he has a strong list of challengers, including two-time winners Austin Reed, Zach Rhodes, Kruz Kepner and Drew Young, and single-race winners Kenny Heffner and Dave Brown Jr.

All but Brown have indicated their intent to run Sunday, as have hometown ace Ken Duke and young Seth Schnoke, both of whom have been regular top finishers but have yet to score a victory this season. Any number of other drivers also will hit the track as potential winners.

Spahr, Reed, and Young have already earned Selinsgrove wins this season, with Spahr and Reed each having won twice.

Gates will open for Saturday’s program at 4 p.m., with racing set to start at 7 p.m. Adult general admission will be $30 ($15 for students; kids 12 and under free; $5 discount for age 65-plus), and pit admission will be $40 ($20 for age 10 and under).

A race initially scheduled for Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, Aug. 19) has been canceled by the track due to a scheduling conflict.

Next weekend the River Valley Builders PASS tour will return to Selinsgrove for a regular Saturday night program.

Duke wins Clinton County PASS battle

(July 26) – Ken Duke Jr. emerged from an intense, nearly race-long three-car bat­tle to win the 25-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Sprint Series and Laurel Highlands Sprint Series Friday at Clinton County Motor Speedway.  Duke took his sixth PASS event of the season and third at Lock have. Most of the race was a dogfight between Duke, polesitter John Walp and outside front-row starter Dylan Proctor, with Proctor leading the most laps but all three drivers taking turns at the front.  After Duke, who had started third, grabbed the lead for the final time, Walp spun and had to re­start in the rear.  That enabled sixth starting Jack Frye to move into third but he was unable to challenge for the lead. Defending champ scores first 2021 PASS win at Selinsgrove

(May 22) – If the story of 2020 in the Pennsylvania Sprint Series was the dominance of Garrett Bard, the story in early 2021 has been the lack of that dominance. But Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway, the current story line may have changed. Bard, who won IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car national and PASS championships last year, grabbed the lead from Kenny Heffner on the feature’s final restart and collected his first PASS win of 2021 (he has won in other RaceSaver series). Heffner, looking for his first career PASS win, led most of the race for the second time this season and settled for a career-best second place finish. Second chance precedes Walp’s first PASS win

YORK HAVEN, Pa. (May 18) – Second chances don’t always happen, so when John Walp got one Saturday night at BAPS Motor Speedway, he took full advantage, leading from start to finish and winning the 20-lap PA Sprint Series feature.  It was Walp’s first feature win. Walp had spun out while leading Friday night’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature at Clinton County Speedway, so getting another chance at a front-row starting spot was too good to pass up.  Walp grabbed the lead from fellow front-row starter Jaremi Hanson and held Hanson at bay to score a 2.319-second victory. “The car was awesome,” an emotional Walp said in victory lane. “The track held moisture all night. We were spot on. I couldn’t ask for anything better.”  BAPS was a likely place for Walp’s breakthrough in his no. 5 Sprinter. His best previous PASS finish was a runner-up showing at this track last August, and he finished third in the feature on April 20 Hanson stalked Walp throughout the event but never able to complete a challenge.
