Ryan wraps up two-win weekend with IMCA checkers at Antioch

ANTIOCH, Calif. (July 15, 2023) – Jason Ryan Jr. won his second Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature of the weekend Saturday, holding off Mark Garner for the checkers at Antioch Speedway.

With a front row start, rookie Billy Garner bolted into the lead when the green flag flew, pursued by his father Mark. Ryan, also first Friday at Ocean Speedway, settled into third and took up pursuit. Ryan and the elder Garner went side by side for several laps before a low pass in turn four of the 11th lap gained Ryan second as Garner pushed too high.

Billy Garner continued to lead the way until an inside pass on lap 14 gained Ryan the lead.

Mark Garner passed Billy second before a yellow flag waved on lap 18. Ryan maintained his cool on the restart and held off Mark Garner for the victory. Billy Garner impressed with a third place finish, followed by Kelly Campanile and Trevor Clymens.

Terry DeCarlo Jr. won the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main. A week earlier he led the first half for the race before being passed. This time around, he gained the lead when brother Nick DeCarlo had mechanical issues on the ninth lap.

Nick DeCarlo took the early lead over Terry DeCarlo Jr. and Kenneth Robles. They ran in that order until Nick DeCarlo fell off the pace as they went down the front straightaway on ninth lap, surrendering the lead to his brother. Kenneth Robles held second ahead of his father Jason.

However, Jason Robles also fell out, leaving Kenneth Robles to battle Mitch Enos and Troy Foulger in a good race for second.

Foulger made a turn two move around Enos on lap 18 for third. Terry DeCarlo Jr. sped to a straightaway advantage in victory. Foulger tried to get underneath Kenneth Robles exiting turn four but Robles held him off at the line for second. Enos ended up fourth ahead of Jason Robles.

Foulger is back on top at Antioch

By Don Martin II  ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 2, 2022) – Troy Foulger won the 20-lap IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Most recently the track champion in 2020, he becomes the third different winner of the season at Antioch as he piloted the Bowers Motorsports Modified to the win.  Trevor Clymens led a pair of laps with the yellow flag waving twice. Clymens led Foulger on the lap three restart but a low pass in turn two a lap later gained Foulger the lead. Kellen Chadwick went low in on lap five to take second with Nick DeCarlo quickly striking to third. Foulger had a straightaway advantage by lap 10 as DeCarlo battled Chadwick to take second. DeCarlo finally grabbed the spot on a lap 14 restart. Foulger was never really threatened as he won with DeCarlo holding off Chadwick for second. Buddy Kniss and Clymens completed the top five. Shrader clinches track title with Antioch checkers

By Candice Martin ANTIOCH, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2023) – Kenny Shrader won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. This was his fourth win of the season and he earned the track championship over Jason Ryan Jr. by just two points.  Shrader bolted into the immediate lead ahead of Ryan and Mark Garner. The race ran 13 laps before a yellow flag slowed the action. Shrader continued to lead the restart ahead of Ryan and Tommy Fraser.  After another yellow flag a lap later, Shrader resumed command. Ryan gave it everything he had but Shrader prevailed for the  championship-clinching victory. Fraser settled for third ahead of Garner and Dylan Connelly. During intermission, past promoter Brynda Bockover, past sportsman racer Gene Dothage, Mike Conley Sr. and Wingless Spec Sprint founder Don O’Keefe Jr were inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Foulger is double winner at Antioch’s Bowers Memorial West Coast Nationals 

By Candice Martin  ANTIOCH, Calif. (Oct. 1, 2022) – Troy Foulger made two trips to victory lane on an emotional Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. The Oakley driver topped the $3,000 to win 49-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Antioch’s Bill Bowers Memorial West Coast Nationals, driving the 2020 GRT Chassis owned by Bowers’ son.  Earlier in the evening, Foulger had won the $1,200 prize in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, in a B & B Racing Chassis ride powered by a Billy Bowers-built engine.  Foulger had a front row start for the Modified headliner and took the early lead. Brian Cass held the second spot until Austin Burke gained the position on lap seven. Burke surrendered second to Nebraskan Jacob Hobscheidt on lap 35. The 2020 race winner went low in turn four on lap 44 to take the lead.
