ANTIOCH, Calif. (Aug. 15, 2026) — Jason Ryan Jr. of Oakley held off a late challenge from Fred Ryland to score his first Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod victory of the season Saturday night at Antioch Speedway.
The three-time runner-up in the track standings had an extra reason to celebrate afterward, sharing victory lane with wife Jayleen and their new baby boy.
Current California State points leader Jeff Bentancourt, who earlier collected his third consecutive heat race victory, jumped into the lead at the start of the 20-lap feature. Ryan settled into second with Ryland running third.
A lap three caution for Kelly Campanile provided Ryan his opportunity. On the restart, Ryan raced past Bentancourt for the lead while Ryland and Al Johnson also moved ahead of the early pacesetter.
Danny Wagner worked his way into third with an inside pass on the frontstretch on lap five.
The field was slowed again on lap eight when Trevor Clymens brought out the yellow in turn two. Ryan remained out front on the restart with Ryland and Wagner giving chase.
Ryland applied serious pressure over the closing laps, but Ryan never surrendered the top spot and held on for his first win of 2026.
Ryland crossed the stripe second, followed by Wagner, Johnson, and Clymens.
Ryland Adds Fourth Antioch Stock Car Win
Fred Ryland continued his strong season in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, earning his fourth EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region victory of 2026, with all four coming at Antioch Speedway.
Jason Robles took the early lead in the 15-lap feature with Dave Hill running second. Hill’s spin in turn one on lap two moved Ryland into the runner-up position.
Ryland wasted little time making his move for the lead, using the high side in turn four on lap three to race past Robles.
Robles slowed to bring out a caution on lap seven and was sidelined from the race. Ryland controlled the remaining distance to secure his fourth victory of the season as he continues his pursuit of a second consecutive Antioch Stock Car championship.
