Five IMCA divisions fill Flatlander Fall Classic card

GOODLAND, Kan. – Five IMCA divisions fill race night cards for Sherman County Speedway’s 32nd annual Flatlander Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24 and 25.  IMCA Modifieds run for $1,500 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $1,000 to win and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks also chase $1,000 top checks while Mach-1 Sport Compacts run for $325 to win. Heats and qualifiers are on the Friday program, last-chance races and main events on the Saturday show. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. and racing is at 6 p.m. both nights. Transponders and RACEceivers are required. Pit passes are $30. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $10 for kids and five and under free.

Belec best in Modifieds, Tubbs tops Stocks at Sherman Co.’s IMCA Flatlander Classic

GOODLAND, Kan. (Sept. 26) – Eddie Belec got the monkey off his back, Jeff Tubbs got to the track on time and both got paid $1,500 for their Saturday IMCA feature wins at Sherman County Speedway’s Flatlander Classic. Belec led all 20 laps in the IMCA Modified main, outrunning cousin Dominic Ursetta and Greg Gustus. His Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying win was his IMCA first since July of 19. “It had been a little while since I won at Goodland. It had been a little while since I won, period,” Belec said. You never know when you’re going to win again. Sherman County Speedway ends season with 31st Flatlander Classic

GOODLAND, Kan. – Sherman County Speedway wraps up the 2020 season with the 31st annual Flatlander Classic on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25 and 26.  Both the IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $1,500 to win, with the Modified winner earning a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot as well.  IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods chase $1,000 top checks while the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature pays $400 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded.  Registration fees of $160 for Modifieds and Stock Cars, $140 for Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods and $100 for Sport Compacts include the weekend pit pass for the driver.  Drivers in all divisions should register at myracepass.com. Ursetta sweeps Flatlander IMCA Modified features 

GOODLAND, Kan. (Sept. 28-29) – Dominic Ursetta took a new car that had sat idle in his shop all sea­son and parked it in victory lane twice during the Sherman County Speedway Flatlander. Ursetta won both Sept. 28 and 29 IMCA Modified features at Goodland, taking $1,000 checks each night. “I didn’t race much this year but I had a new car (a 2018 GRT by Phillips) sitting in the shop,” he said. “We threw it together and I told the guys after hot laps Friday that we had a good car.” He started from outside the front row on opening night and from 10th Saturday. Kyle Rohleder got by in lapped traffic for a brief turn at the front on Friday, but Ursetta regained the lead and hit his marks the rest of the way. GOODLAND, Kan. – Five IMCA divisions are on the Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28 and 29 Flatlander Fall Classic card at Sherman County Speedway. IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars both race for $1,000 to win, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $750 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $200 to win. Modified features are qualifying events for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and state points will be given and numerous contingencies awarded for the draw/redraw special.
