Red River Tour checkers fly for Davis at Heart O’ Texas

By Jackson Braun WACO, Texas (May 26) – A late-race pass by Cory Davis of teammate Chris Elliott extended the streak of new winners on the Lone Star Super Gas IMCA Red River Modified Tour presented by Smiley’s Racing Products Sunday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. Elliott got the lead on the initial start, with Cody Tidwell and then Chris Morris running in second. With five laps remaining in the 25-lap contest, Morris took his shot in turn four. He made contact with the inside of Elliott’s machine and spun himself out, ending a strong run. After a few restarts, Elliott shot back out to the lead, with Davis in pursuit. The final restart occurred with three laps to go. 2019 IMCA Red River Modified Tour set to start this weekend, May 25-31

By Jackson Braun KENNEDALE, Texas – Pre-registration has officially closed for the 2019 edition of the IMCA Red River Modified Tour. If the quality of racing from last year is any indication, everyone is in for a treat during the tour’s second running. Eighty-one IMCA Modifieds have registered, along with 62 Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods and 19 IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Inaugural champion Chris Elliott from Abilene looks to defend his Modified crown as the stacked field of racers will try to figure out how to put together a championship run. IMCA Modifieds will compete for a $1,500 prize every night, with an entry into the feature worth a $100 payday. Winners of these events will all be qualifiers for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Hoegh rethinks turning around, turns in IMCA Modified win at Bagby Memorial

ELM MOTT, Texas (March 1) – Just 30 minutes into the 3-1/2 hour tow to Heart O’ Texas Speedway and already running late, Jeff Hoegh thought about turning around and starting his season another night. Instead, he got back on the road, got to HO’T in time and won the Jack Bagby Memorial main event for IMCA Modifieds, earning both $1,000 and a berth of the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. “Getting on the ballot is a pretty big deal for me. I’m glad we started off the year the way we have,” said Hoegh. “It was one of those nights when everything turned out good.” It was also one of those nights that didn’t start out that way. Wolla topped the IMCA Modified main event at the Heart O’ Texas Fall Classic, leading the last 15 of 25 circuits to earn the $5,000 top prize. “The thing I liked best about this was that any time you can go to a track you’ve never been to and win, it says a lot about your race program,” he said following his biggest IMCA career payday. “This season we went to Kansas, Montana and Texas and won for the first time in each state. Heart O’ Texas Speedway hosts Fall Classic, Dirt Dominator

WACO, Texas – Five thousand dollars is the top IMCA Modified main event prize while $10,000 is at stake in the IMCA.TV-sponsored Dirt Dominator during the Oct. 25-27 Fall Classic at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. The Modified feature is a 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying race and pays a minimum of $300 to start. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods both race for $1,500 to win and $125 to start. Non-qualifiers in all three divisions get $100. Entry fees are $150 for Modifieds and $60 for Stock Cars and SportMods. Sixteen Modified drivers have already qualified for the winner-take-all $10,000 Dirt Dominator, to be held during the Thursday, Oct. 25 practice night. Stevens shines at Heart O’ Texas with Red River Tour triumph

By Mike Spieker WACO, Texas (May 27) – Tyler Stevens raced to the win on night two of the IMCA Red River Modified Tour at Heart O’ Texas Speedway on Sunday, earning $1,000 and a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Matt Guillaume, Kevin Sustaire and Stephens went three-wide for the race lead down the back stretch on lap 10. Guillaume fended off the challenge to remain in the lead as a caution reset the field on lap 11. As the race resumed, Stevens jumped into second over Sustaire and set his sights on Guillaume. The following circuit, Stephens dove to the inside of Guillaume and completed a textbook slide job with 11 laps remaining. Stevens opened up a four car length lead and Guillaume and Sustaire continued to battle for second. Allen captures Dirt Dominator at Heart O’ Texas

By Mike Spieker WACO, Texas (May 25) – Chase Allen of Midlothian punched his ticket into the IMCA Modified Dirt Dominator finale with his qualifying win Friday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. Allen was paired with Abilene driver Chris Elliott in the final round. Allen took the lead at the drop of the green flag for the two and a half lap shootout. Elliott remained within striking distance while running patiently around the low side of the speedway as the white flag flew. Allen kept his no. 130 machine up on the high side around the smooth and slick high-banked quarter-mile dirt oval. Allen had little pressure entering the final set of corners as he cruised to the win and the $1,000 payday. Dowell rallies to bag big check at Bagby Memorial

WACO, Texas (March 16) – After getting the lead back a second time, J.P. Dowell held off Justin McCoy for the $1,000 IMCA Modified feature win at Heart O’ Texas Speedway’s Jack Bagby Memorial. Making his first start of the season in a car borrowed from Pat McGuire, Dowell drew the pole start. WACO, Texas (Oct. 28) – Anthony Roth got his first look at Heart O’ Texas Speedway when he pulled in for the Thursday practice session that preceded the weekend Fall Classic special.
