First Washington entry getting back on track at Super Nationals

PUYALLUP, Wash. – Nine years after his last race, Will Taylor became the first Washington State driver to register for the 41st annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. An Arkansas native and traveling respiratory therapist by profession, Taylor is now working out of Puyallup. He’ll make the trip to Boone Speedway via Batesville, where Kevin Shaw is getting his 2005 Shaw ride race-ready. “This was a track championship winning car for Shawn Walsh,” said Taylor. “I’m hoping some of his good luck rubs off on me.” The upcoming Super Nationals are a bucket list race for Taylor, a proud member of the Shaw racing family and three-time spectator at America’s Racin’ Vacation, most recently in 2019. “I’ve been a part-time racer. I have no sponsors. I’ve raced when I could and picked up another shift when I needed to pay for it,” he said. “I want to finish my races at Boone, not go out on the wrecker and take the car home in one piece.” Taylor grew up going to races every weekend, [Read More]

Big Dance at Boone is ultimate goal for Yeager

GREEN RIVER, Wy. – Making the Saturday show at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s? That’d be great, says Braxton Yeager. Your dad and brother making the Big Dance, too? Even better. The Yeager clan from Green River, Wy., will be fully-represented at the 41st annual Super Nationals, with 22-year-old Braxton joined by younger brother Bryson and father Justen at Boone Speedway. “I’ve raced at Super Nationals once before (in 2019) and it was pretty awesome,” said Braxton, in the midst of a Midwest racing swing with Bryson along as crew chief. “The number of cars, all the people and the track itself … it was all bigger than anything I’d ever been part of.” Now in his eighth Modified season, Yeager has won track titles at home track Sweetwater Speedway two of the last three years. He began the 2023 season in Arizona and U-turned in the spring for King of the Highbanks shows at Marshalltown Speedway. Masengarb stars in rich IMCA Mod Lite show at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 5, 2023) – It was another big night of racing at the Boone Speedway on Saturday, that saw 175 race cars checked into the pits. Sauerman Trucking boosted the payout for the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites to a $500 payday, as well as kicking in $50 to each heat winner in all divisions. The Mod Lites ran their 15-lap feature event first. Early leader was David Bailey with Scott Bailey giving chase and that was the running order when the race was red flagged on lap eight after John Patterson rolled his brand-new ride in turn four but was thankfully okay. When the race went back to green, a lap was not completed when the race was once again red flagged after disaster struck on the backstretch. This time it was Joe Wood taking the tumble, with Scott Bailey and David Meinecke also involved.  Once again, thankfully no one was hurt. Bailey held his lead when the race did get back underway, but it was short-lived as he lost [Read More]
