WWMT All-Star Race set for Oct. 4, 5 at Millard County

DELTA, Utah – The 2013 EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Modified Tour All-Star Race will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4 and 5 at Millard County Raceway. The special is presented by Hansen Web-Design, Forty laps is the distance for IMCA SportMods on Friday and 50 laps is the distance for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds on Saturday. During both races, the field will stop at halfway for fuel only and the field may be shuffled for the last half. A drawing on the front stretch will determine the positions that will be shuffled. Modified qualifying will be on Friday. Drivers not previously locked into the main event must run compete in a heat and possibly a “B” feature to qualify for the All-Star Race. Drivers already qualified will run a pole dash to determine their starting spot in the All-Star Race. Thies tops South Dakota Fall Nationals at Raceway Park

JEFFERSON, S.D. (Sept. 21) – As the season ended at Raceway Park on Saturday night, Jim Thies was the big winner of the $1,000-to-win WinnaVegas South Dakota Fall Nationals. In the Professional Concrete IMCA Modified main event, 2013 track champion Thies got to the front in the early laps and held off Ricky Stephan and Jason Schneiders for the top prize. The win qualified Thies for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. The Casey’s General Stores IMCA Stock Car division saw Jason Ward atop the field once again, taking the win over Aaron Cain and Chad Bruns. The Skyline Casino IMCA SportMod feature went to Todd Boulware, who held off a late charge from Karl Brewer and Jeff TenEyck to cap his track championship season. Yeager collects pair of wins in Modified Fall Roundup at Sweetwater Speedway

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (Sept. 21-22) – Justen Yeager swept the weekend by winning two features in two days during the Modified Fall Roundup at Sweetwater Speedway. Yeager, who started ninth in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified 30-lapper Friday night, reeled in leader Jake Donnelly in the waning laps. That pair, along with Zane DeVilbiss, battled for the top spot before Yeager broke free with two laps to go. Yeager went on to collect the $750 winner’s share. Yeager got to the front a little earlier during Saturday’s 30-lapper. From a seventh place start, Yeager worked around front row starter DeVilbiss on the fourth circuit, then drove away to the $2,000 victory and earned a spot on the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Track champions crowned at RPM Speedway

By Mike Hughes HAYS, Kan. (Sept. 21) – It was championship night at RPM Speedway with three of the five track titles still up for grabs when the evening started. In the S & W Supply IMCA Modifieds, it was a two-car race for the championship as four points separated Corey Lagroon and Dylan Sherfick. Scott Brown took the lead at the start of the 20-lap feature with Tim Watts and Ronnie Hill in tow. Hill took over the top spot on the following lap. Hill led the field back to green following a lap eight caution, only to be passed by Travis Sherfick on lap nine. The red flag flew on the following lap when Teel flipped on the back straightaway. Teel was okay, but done for the night. Travis led the remaining distance to claim his third win of the year at Hays. Younger brother Dylan finished second. (Sept. 22) – Brandon Savage, Tony Dunker and Austen Bercerra all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways during Mississippi Belle Distributing Miller Lite Night at the Races. Brandon Savage scored his third feature win of the season in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event. Savage held off Abe Huls in second, Terry Houston in third, Beau Taylor in fourth and Jerry Jansen in fifth. Savage and Jansen were the heat race winners. Tony Dunker got another feature event win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMod main event, his 10th points win of the year. Cameron holds off Kuehn in Stock Cars at Winston

WINSTON, Mo. (Sept. 21) – Jake Cameron scored a close win in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division at I-35 Speedway. Cameron and Greg Kuehn battled wheel-to-wheel for the entire race with Cameron edging Keuhn by a mere car-length at the line to take the feature victory. Point leader Dean Wray was third with Brad Whitney and Gene Stigall rounding out the top five. With cautions plaguing the early going of the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature, several cars found the pits and did not return to action. Hogge collects big IMCA Modified paycheck at Ocean

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (Sept. 20-21) – Maybe it was the effort from holding off Ryan McDaniel and Jeff Taylor that had Bobby Hogge IV breathless at the end of Ocean Speedway’s Pat Pettit Memorial Shootout. Or maybe it was the rooftop celebration that followed Hogge’s $15,003 win Saturday evening at Watsonville, in the top-paying event for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. The victory produced the career best payday for Hogge, who had to keep McDaniel and Taylor at bay in a green, white, checkered finish to the 50-lap main event. “I don’t know if I took a breath after the last caution,” he said. “I didn’t know if it was going to give them an opportunity or me time to make a mistake. IMCA Stock Cars headline Sept. 28 Jackson Nationals

JACKSON, Minn. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $1,500 to win at the 35th annual Jackson Nationals on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Stock Car feature doubles as Jackson Speedway’s seventh annual Doug Cellan Memorial and pays a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods all chase $1,000 top checks and $100 minimum to start money. Mach-1 Sport Compacts vie for $500 to win and a minimum of $50 to start. Six IMCA features produce six different winners at World Nationals

By Jeremy Fox MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Sept. 20-21) – Six sanctioned features resulted in as many different winners at Marshalltown Speedway’s World Nationals special. Friday victories went to Donavon Smith in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Carter VanDenBerg in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Jamie Songer in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Saturday checkers flew for Kyle Vanover in the Stock Cars, Tony Dunker in the Northern SportMods and Austin Luellen in the Hobbies. Both Stock Car and both SportMod features paid $1,000 to win. The Hobby Stock features paid $500. In the opening night Stock Car feature, it was Todd Reitzler grabbing the lead right after the first lap was scored. Aikey wins Deery finale, Harris clinches IMCA series championship

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Sept. 21) – Jeff Aikey raced to his tour-career leading 61st feature win and Brian Harris clinched his career first Deery Brothers Summer Series championship Saturday night at Davenport Speedway. Aikey passed Justin Kay with eight circuits to go in the 40-lapper, then ran away from the rest of the field enroute to the $3,000 checkers. The seven-time IMCA Late Model tour king also went home with the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels feature qualifier drawing prize and another $99 check from Ideal Ready Mix for perfect series attendance. Kay was runner-up to Aikey in the finale and to Harris in the point standings by 25 markers. Harris redrew 12th and fell back in the pack before driving all the way back to third.
