Saturday is soda night at Cottage Grove

Pepsi Family Night means fans who purchase a family pass (consisting of two adults and up to four youths) for $30 will receive complimentary small sodas courtesy of Pepsi. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds will return for their third show of the season. Jesse Williamson won the first race on April 4 while Braedon Hand was victorious last week. Legit Speedway opens Saturday, IMCA Modifieds return to West Plains

WEST PLAINS, Mo. (May 7) – A former track champion is the new owner and promoter at newly re-named Legit Speedway. Gary Stolba completed his purchase of the 3/8-mile dirt facility this spring. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports headline weekly programs at West Plains beginning this Saturday, May 9. “The track is ready and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the rain stays away,” Stolba said. “We started working on the facility six weeks ago and are putting final touches on concessions and restrooms. We’re also working on getting a new tailgating area finished.” Stolba was a 21-year-old spectator for the first event held at the former West Plains Motor Speedway. Dickey tops IMCA Modified main at Southern Iowa

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (May 6) – Scott Dickey prevailed in a caution-free Musco Lighting IMCA Modified feature Wednesday night at Southern Iowa Speedway. Dickey led all 18 laps but had to hold off late-race challenges from Tyler Groenendyk and Cayden Carter while Carter VanDenBerg, Andrew Schroeder and Todd Shute tussled over fourth. Dickey took the win with Groenendyk in second and Carter in third. VanDenBerg was fourth and Schroeder was fifth. Zack VanderBeek took the lead on lap 11 and led Brad Pinkerton to the Budweiser IMCA Stock Car checkers. The third different frontrunner, Dustin Griffiths sped from 10th starting to collect his first local Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stock checkers of the season. Aaron Martin and Bobby Greene did stints in the lead before Griffiths took charge. Jason McDaniel led every circuit and topped the KBOE Radio IMCA Northern SportMod main event. Curtis VanDerWal finished second for the second week in a row. John Whalen repeated his start to finish performance from a week ago in winning the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature.

Down for the count: May 8 show at Salina Speedway is a wash

By Dusty Wiegert SALINA, Kan. – This week’s barrage of heavy rains and severe weather has forced officials to call off the Friday, May 8 races at Salina, Kan., Speedway. More than four inches of rain has fallen at the speedway through Wednesday night with even more forecast through the rest of the week. With grounds already saturated there just isn’t an opportunity to get the track prep down and make sure everyone is comfortable before tomorrow night’s event. The May 15 event will be run as scheduled and include the BSB Manufacturing NeSmith Late Models, 1st Class Chassis IMCA Modifieds, Coors Light IMCA Stock Cars, Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Northern SportMods, and M&H Motor IMCA Sport Compacts. IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods race Saturday at Sunset

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – Both IMCA sanctioned Modifieds and Northern SportMods are on the Saturday, May 9 card at Sunset Speedway Park. General admission for all ladies is $5 on Bud Light Lime-A-Rita Ladies Night. After two races there have been two different winners in Budweiser IMCA Modified competition. Collen Winebarger and Mark Carrell have taken care of business in the first two events so far while Craig Cassell has two straight second place finishes. The feature event will pay $650 to win. The Karl Chevrolet SportMods have been in action just once this season. Michael Melton was the feature winner on April 25. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., the front gate opens at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 p.m.

California’s Diamond Mountain Speedway sets 10 dates for IMCA Modifieds

SUSANVILLE, Calif. – IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds return to California’s Diamond Mountain Speedway for nine Saturday dates and another on Friday this season. The ¼-mile dirt oval is located on the Lassen County Fairgrounds and is the newest addition to IMCA’s Larry Shaw Racing Western Region. “There are other tracks in the area that are IMCA sanctioned,” noted Fair Manager Jim Wolcott. “Drivers at those tracks will be able to come here and race for points, too.” Opening night is this Saturday, May 9. Other Saturday shows are scheduled May 23, May 30, June 13, July 4, July 18, Aug. 1, Aug. 22 and season championship night on Sept. 5. The county fair race is July 18; the one Friday event is on June 19. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded each night. IMCA track champions were crowned at the former High Desert Speedway in 1995 and 1996. Most recently, Susanville was the site of three sanctioned events in 2013.
