The Kaplan University IMCA Modified checkers came ahead of Justin Wulf, Shane Hiatt and Johnny Saathoff. “This is such an exciting place to win!” Hoefelman exclaimed. “There is so much good equipment here, and such great racers” Shayle Bade was a straightaway faster than her closest RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car challenger. The winged win was her first of the season at Eagle. Benji Legg found the right setup and found himself in victory lane for the first time this season follow­ing the NAPA IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Adam Armstrong started in the eighth row after winning his “B” feature, then outran the rest of the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock field for the main event victory. Kevin Fearing got the kinks worked out in his new car and won the Sam’s Club IMCA Sport Com­pact main event.

(June 20) – Cole Traugott turned his Dodge City Raceway Park luck around by wiring the field to win Saturday night’s 20-lap Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature. After suffering DNF’s in his previous pair of local starts this year, Traugott started from the pole position and led all the way to take his first Dodge City win since August of 2013. Traugott weathered three cautions along the way to secure the win, the latest with just seven laps to go. “Patience is the name of the game,” he explained afterward. With Traugott out front, Dylan Sherfick worked his way from 10th to third by the 12th round, then moved into the runner-up slot when Nick Link suffered front end damage and collected Clay Sellard in the process. By Mike Hughes NORTON, Kan. (June 20) – After the first two scheduled races this season were rained out, Elmwood Park Speedway finally got in its season opener Saturday evening, June 20. David Murray won the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature but Jesse Richter made him work for it. Murray led the first five laps before Richter got by briefly. Murray regained the lead, then held Richter in check following a lap nine restart. Casey Werkmeister led from green to checkered in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Mikey Dancer chased Werkmeister all 15 laps but had to settle for second. Jason Davis was third. In the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature, Jake Krone led all 15 laps in the caution-free race. Dakota Sproul and Troy Attwood completed the top three. Roger Garrison, Garrett Hager and Rhett Kingsbury each led a lap at the start of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. (June 20) – Travis Van Straten passed Brandon Czarapata with two laps remain­ing to win the Saturday IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, and $750 top prize, at Shawano Speedway. Josh Mroczkowski and Mike Schmidt took turns in the lead before Czarapata went by both on lap four. Two circuits later it was Rod Snellenberger and Van Straten heading the pursuit. A caution on lap 13 bunched the field up but Czarapata got a good restart and held the lead. Snellenberger pulled into the pits on lap 17 and Schmidt joined Czarapata and Van Straten in the top three. Van Straten moved to the inside of Czarapata on lap 18 and the pair raced side-by-side the next two times around the oval with Czarapata holding the lead each lap by a fender. Shryock slid past leader Rich Lewerke to take the lead and eventual victory. Lewerke finished second while last week’s winner Levi Nielsen placed third. Jesse Brown did not have the fastest IMCA Sunoco Stock Car on the track but he was in the right place when it mattered most. Blake Cole and Travis Shipman both pulled into the infield with mechani­cal troubles, giving Brown the lead. He had to hold off a late challenge from runner-up Kevin Opheim. Joe Willier took third. MERCED, Calif. (June 20) – Ryan Porter won the 20-lap Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modfied fea­ture Saturday at Merced Speedway. Michael Shearer and Bob Williamson shared the front row for the feature, and Shearer set the early pace. Bill Egleston and last-starting Porter were soon in the lead battle. The third generation in his family to race at Merced, Porter soon grabbed the lead and sped home to his second win of the season. Egleston got his title hopes back on track with a second ahead of the steady Shearer. After coming as close as second this year, hard charger and two time hobby stock champion Bruce Nelson bested a 14 car Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod field for his first win of the season at Merced.
