No question about it, latest Cardinal track title puts Flowers in fast IMCA company

HOBBS, N.M. – Neal Flowers isn’t just good at the game of Cardinal Speedway track championship trivia. He’s the answer to a lot of the questions. Flowers won his career 10th Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified track title at the Eunice, N.M., speedplant in 2015. He’s the latest in just a handful of IMCA drivers to earn double-digit crowns, in one or multiple divisions, at the same track. “I’m sure winning the first one was tough but winning the last one was harder,” said Flowers, from Hobbs and a month removed from his 48th birthday. “Winning track championships gets tougher every year but it’s more satisfying knowing you can still do it. IMCA amends rear suspension rules for Modifieds

VINTON, Iowa (March 8) – An early amendment to 2016 rear suspension rules for IMCA Modifieds has been announced. A maximum of one bird cage per side will be allowed, effective immediately, at sanctioned events this season. “We did not anticipate the problem addressed in the Late Model division in January to spill over to the Modified division as quickly as it has,” said IMCA President Brett Root. “Before rear suspensions go that direction in the Modifieds, we will put a stop to it immediately.” Penalty for rule infractions will be disqualification; no post-race warnings will be given. Brake floaters will still be allowed, in conjunction with maximum bird cage usage. Carney sweeps Red River Roundup Sprint features

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (March 4-5) – John Carney was late getting to the track Friday night, and that was the only time he was late getting anywhere during the March 4-5 Red River Roundup. Carney won both IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car features during the opening weekend for the new Sprint Series of Oklahoma at Red River Speedway, earning $700 on Friday and $1,000 on Saturday. The sweep gave him 14 straight RaceSaver feature wins, including last September’s Sprint Car Nationals. “I had a great car both nights. I could go anywhere on the track with it and that was thanks to my crew,” noted Carney, driver of the Coyote Candle Company ride. PLATTE CENTER, Neb. – With both national and Super Nationals championships to its credit last season, Razor Chassis returns in 2016 as title sponsor of the South Central Region for IMCA Modifieds. Hogge gets LVMS Dirt Track monkey off his back with Friday feature win

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 4) – For all his Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified career accomplishments, Friday’s victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was a first for Bobby Hogge IV. The Salinas, Calif., veteran raced from 13th starting to win the main event at the half-mile Dirt Track. The victory was his first in the class at LVMS since he started racing at the Duel In The Desert in the 1990s. “It was a good race for us all night. Obviously, racing from 13th was exciting,” said Hogge. “I’ve missed maybe three Duels In the Desert and this was my first win here in a Modified.
