Money earns top Modified cash at Lexington

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 19) – Earning trips to the winner’s circle Sunday at Lexington Raceway were Clay Money, Daniel Gottschalk, Mike Nichols and Jacob Olmstead. Leading the final two laps of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature was money in the bank for Money. Colton Osborn ran a near-flawless race in leading the first 18 circuits, only to end up with runner-up accolades. Anthony Roth worked through traffic to finish third. Being at the point during the laps that matter the most was Gottschalk in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature. After leading much of the way, Cole Egge was second while third went to Trent Roth. Nichols picked up IMCA Sunoco Stock Car career win number 399 in dramatic fashion. Kobus gets first win at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (June 18) – Anthony Kobus became a first-time NAPA IMCA Northern SportMod feature winner Saturday at Eagle Raceway. “It’s always more tricky when you start out front. The track was tacky and slick, depending on where you were on it,” said the five-year veteran. “I love coming here to Eagle, because of the competition. If you can win here, it’s a real accomplishment.” Gary Saathoff, Shelly Andersen and Arie Schouten were next across the stripe. Dustin Anderson drove to the Kaplan University IMCA Modified checkers. Tyler Drueke raced from 12th starting to first in the IMCA Racesaver EMI Sprint Car main event. Roy Armstrong was the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock winner and Tom Powell won for the first time this season in the Mountain Dew Kick Start IMCA Sport Compacts.

Late restart opens door for Logue at SportMod Nationals

BRITT, Iowa (June 22) – A race he didn’t win last August helped put Johnathon Logue in victory lane at Hancock County Speedway. His runner-up finish during the Night of 10,000 Stars show at Britt was on Logue’s mind at the start of Tuesday’s MaxYield Seed SportMod Nationals. Remembering how George Nordman used the lower groove to get the best of him before at Britt, Logue followed the same line from 13th starting to the $2,500 checkers. Theme for Super Nationals best looking car contest is ‘Represent Your State’

BOONE, Iowa – Proud of where you call home? Heck yes, and IMCA is giving you the chance to prove it during the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. “This year’s contest is open to drivers in all seven divisions competing at Boone Speedway and trophies will be awarded in the four divisions that crown champions on Saturday night,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “We encourage all Super Nationals competitors to be as creative as they can with their home state representation, while making sure required decals are in the correct location on their car.” The same theme was used in choosing best looking entries at the Duel In the Desert last fall. “We wanted to make this announcement now so drivers can start making plans with their graphics company,” Yoder said. “If they let us know in advance, we can make sure announcers identify them during hot laps, for example.”

More Super Nationals pit stalls get RESERVED designation

BOONE, Iowa – Another 46 pit stalls have been designated as reserved for the Sept. 5-10 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Stalls in Section JJ (along the fence in the north field, next to Manufacturers’ Row) and Section II (in the south pit area) are all on grass, 12 feet wide and 100 feet long. “We have reserved areas where the longer haulers absolutely need to be in,” IMCA President Brett Root said. “We have reconfigured the south pit area in order to accommodate the longer haulers and will do our best to keep them out of the roadways during the event.” Stalls in Section HH (north of turn 3) are 60 feet long, also grass and also newly designated as reserved, meaning all stalls in the main pit area will be reserved. Moore has the most in Raceway Park Modified main

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (June 19) – A perfectly prepared track provided multiple grooves and a fast night of IMCA racing Sunday at Raceway Park. The Total Motors IMCA Modified feature saw the fastest action of the night and a controversial ending. Bob Moore got past Jason Schneiders on the second lap and led Jim Cole, Chris Abelson and Ricky Stephan most of the feature. With four laps remaining, Cole got a huge run out of the fourth turn on the outside line, while leader Moore was powering up the track from his inside position. The two came together at the flag stand with Cole clipping the rear of Moore’s car and sending both drivers scrambling for control into the first turn. When the dust settled, Cole led the pack out of the second turn followed by Moore and Abelson. Champion Chadwick matches feature win record in Wild West Shoot Out title quest

By Ben Deatherage The 2016 Wild West Modified Shootout is finally in the books and it was one fantastic week of racing. Of the seven races on the schedule the only one to fall to weather, although a handful of others had threatening skies, was just the final feature at Willamette Speedway on June 15. Still the tour would visit six different tracks in California, Oregon, and Washington for seven races in eight nights. A record 90-plus Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified drivers competed in at least one race during the course of the week. Teams and drivers traveled from eight different states (Oregon, Washington, California, Montana, North Dakota, Colorado, North Carolina, and Missouri) as well as one Canadian province (British Columbia). James takes Modified checkers at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 19) – The race was for second once Jeff James got to the front of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified field at Stuart Speedway. Bob Daniels and Todd Cooney brought the Modifieds to the initial green with Cooney taking the early lead over Daniels and James. James moved to second on lap three and set his sights on the lead as Cooney continued to show the way. James slowly chewed away at Cooney’s lead and on lap 10 took over at the front. From there the race was for second as James went on to win. Jake Murray was second with Josh Gilman third, Cooney fourth and Todd VanEaton fifth. Eckrich scores first win of season at West Liberty

The IMCA iWireless IMCA Late Model 25-lapper saw 44-year racing veteran Ron Boyse take off from the front row and lead the race until lap 18 when Andy Eckrich put his no. 56 into the lead for good. Eckrich stretched out the lead in taking a comfortable win over Boyse and Kyle Hinrichs. The Performance Concepts IMCA Modifieds continue to provide the fans with very exciting racing.
