New division, early entry numbers have anticipation building for Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – A new division and early registration numbers that border on the amazing continue to generate a buzz about the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

Five hundred and thirty-five drivers from 25 states and Canada are already entered in the Sept. 5-10 Super Nationals at Boone Speedway. In addition to the right to call themselves champions of dirt track racing’s premier event, they’ll vie for shares of a purse exceeding $285,000 and more than $60,000 in contingency awards.

“The numbers speak for themselves. Our drivers want to be part of the biggest and the best race of the season,” IMCA President Brett Root said. “While the purse and contingencies are very generous, I believe the Super Nationals experience is what brings many of them back to Boone Speedway every year.”

Pre-entry numbers for the 34th annual event now include 200 Modifieds, 118 Stock Cars, 108 Northern SportMods, 61 Hobby Stocks, 32 Southern SportMods, 14 Sport Compacts and two Late Models.

The driver and fan-friendly format will be continued as racing begins at 2 p.m. each day of America’s Racin’ Vacation.

Southern SportMods make their Super Nationals debut and crown the first champion of the week on opening night Monday, Sept. 5. Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod qualifying is Monday and Tuesday; the entire Sport Compact program is on Tuesday.

Modified and Stock Car qualifying is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Sept. 7-9. The Late Model feature is part of the Deery Brothers Summer Series and returns to the Thursday program. The $1,000 to win Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational for Modifieds is on Friday, Sept. 9.

Following last-chance events for the Modifieds and Stock Cars, the Saturday, Sept. 10 program concludes with race of champions and main events for the Hobby Stocks, Northern SportMods, Stock Cars and Modifieds.

The Modified champion earns a minimum of $2,000, plus another $100 for each of as many as 50 starts made during the weekly point season. That adds up to a potential $7,000 payday.

The Late Model feature pays $2,000 to win, with another $1,500 possible in bonus money. The main event for Stock Cars pays $1,000 to win, along with a bonus of as much as $2,500.

Northern SportMods race for $1,000, Southern SportMods for $750 and Hobby Stocks for $600 to win, with another $1,250 in bonuses possible in each division. Sport Compacts run for $250 to win, plus $5 for each of as many as 50 starts.

IMCA.TV will broadcast live from Boone Speedway throughout the week of Super Nationals. Coverage also includes the Sept. 3 Prelude to the Super Nationals special.

Modified, Stock Car, Northern SportMod and Hobby Stock drivers are required to be pre-registered for Super Nationals to compete in the Prelude.
