Shute’s late-night decision pays off with win in Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 6) – The decision Todd Shute made right around midnight on Monday paid off with the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour feature win Tuesday at Marshalltown Speedway. Shute held off a very determined Tyler Droste for the $1,000 IMCA Modified victory, his first of the season. “Tyler is a very respectful racer. He was right there,” Shute said following his career 78th win in the division. “It was a very fun race but also very tense.” Shute passed Jimmy Gustin for the front spot on the sixth of 30 laps and denied Droste over the final 10 circuits. Free grandstand admission Sunday at Dubuque Speedway

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa – This Sunday, June 11 has been declared Fan/Driver Appreciation Night at Dubuque Speedway. All fans will be admitted to the grandstands free. The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing program will get underway on the high banked 3/8-mile clay track with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m. The night’s action will include racing in four sanctioned divisions, the Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models, Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modifieds, GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMods and Bakey Seamless Gutters IMCA Stock Cars.

Traffic can’t slow Osborn at Lincoln County

(June 3) – Colton Osborn worked through traffic to grab the lead just past the halfway point, then led to the finish in winning the IMCA Modified feature Saturday at Lincoln County Raceway. Casey Werkmeister started outside row three and finished first in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Kyle Clough started deep in the field and ended in second. Jamey Kennicutt held off all challengers after getting the lead on the fourth lap of the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock winner Brady Weinman only led one lap but it was the lap that mattered most: He passed Robbie Kosmacek on the final circuit. Tom Baumgardner rode the cushion to the Mach-1 Sport Compact checkers.

Keller can’t be caught at Dacotah

MANDAN, N.D. (June 2) – Jeremy Keller couldn’t be caught in the Friday feature for IMCA Modifieds at Dacotah Speedway. Quentin Kinzley was the early leader, ahead of Shawn Strand and Jason Wolla. Wolla, who started eleventh, cracked into the top three by lap 10. Strand caught and passed Kinzley before a caution for debris from Wolla’s race car brought out a caution on lap 12. Wolla was sent to the tail end of the field and on the restart, Keller went low under Strand and took the lead. Keller pulled away from the field until another caution regrouped the field. He edged away on the restart as Strand and Marlyn Seidler battled for second. Seidler slipped by for second with eight laps to go, bringing Brad Hartigan with him. No one could catch Keller, however. Seidler finished second ahead of Hartigan. Ward sails to Crystal checkers

CRYSTAL, Mich. (June 3) – Three-time Lane Automotive IMCA Modified track champion A.J. Ward wasted no time moving from his ninth place starting position to take the lead and found clear sailing all the way to the checkered flag Saturday at Crystal Motor Speedway. Chad Wernette did his best to reel in Ward but had to settle for second, followed by Austin Wonch in third. June 10 at Crystal is the Lane Automotive-Optima Batteries IMCA Modified Challenge with a top prize of $1,052. The winner joins the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Hurst sails to 2K win Sunday at Dubuque

When the green waved for an early restart it was Dubuque driver Jeremiah Hurst taking to the high line around the very smooth 3/8-mile clay track. Hurst went on to lead the flag-to-flag for the $2,000 win. Joel Callahan ran second ahead of Dan Shelliam on Sunday night. The Merfeld Automotive IMCA Modifieds provided the fans with spectacular racing on Sunday night with the winner in doubt right down to the checkered flag. Saturday night’s racing included the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge plus an emotional night of racing for the Jennifer Brauns Massey Memorial. 5-year IMCA sponsor Penske Racing Shocks gives Modified, Late Model, Stock Car awards

READING, Pa. – Drivers in three IMCA divisions are in the running for contingency awards from Penske Racing Shocks again in 2017. The Reading, Pa., manufacturer and five-year IMCA sponsor gives product certificates valued at $350, $250 and $150, respectively, to top three eligible finishers in each of the five regions for IMCA Modifieds and in both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car regions. Pre-registration underway for Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Nine states and Canada are already represented in on-line registrations for the July 8-13 Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. All six IMCA Modified main events will pay $2,300, a minimum of $300 to start, and are qualifying events for 2017 upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.
