Duffers golf tourney benefits Shop With a Cop

BOONE, Iowa – When they tee it up for the 29th annual Duffers National Tournament at Cedar Pointe Golf Course, golfers in town for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s will help support the local Shop With A Cop. Tee time is 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 for the four-person best shot tournament. Cost is $40 per person, which includes nine holes of golf, a golf cart and lunch, and entries will be taken right up until tee time. Each team is required to have at least one registered Super Nationals driver, IMCA official or Boone Speedway official. The winning foursome earns $200 with $100 paid to the second place team. Remaining proceeds again go to Shop With A Cop, which sees youngsters accompanied local law enforcement officers to pick out Christmas presents at Wal-Mart. Fan Zone continues to be center of off-track activities during week of Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – There will be plenty to see and enjoy throughout the week of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s in the Fan Zone, located south of the main grandstands at Boone Speedway. Numerous events each day of America’s Racin’ Vacation Sept. 3-8. The Casey’s General Store redraw for starts in the front two rows of the Deery Brothers Summer Series main event will be held at approximately 7 p.m. on Monday. Card games to determine the starting grid for Northern SportMod and Hobby Stock race of champions events will be held at approximately 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Monday’s Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod qualifying feature winners sign autographs at 6 p.m. Tuesday. IMCA sponsors fill Manufacturers’ Row

BOONE, Iowa – Nearly 40 vendors will be represented on Manufacturers’ Row during the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. IMCA sponsors will offer a wide range of high performance products for use during the week of Sept. 3-8. They’ll also display a variety of new products for use in IMCA competition in 2019. Mullen denies Andersen weekend sweep

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 19) – J.J. Andersen went into the Sunday night IMCA Modified event at Outagamie Speedway seeking a weekend sweep but Brian Mullen had other ideas. The winner Friday at Luxemburg Speedway and Saturday at 141 Speedway, Anderson jumped to the early lead and appeared to be well on his way to completing the 3-for-3 weekend. Mullen raced from row four into the runner-up spot on lap five. With Andersen and Mullen both running the top groove, it looked as if that’s how they would finish but a caution on lap eight changed everything. With Mullen restarting down low, Andersen switched to the bottom of the track and allowed Mullen the preferred line up top. Mullen took the lead, going unchallenged the remainder of the event for the win. Andersen ended in second. Tyler Wilson, Johnny Whitman and Benji LaCrosse completed the top five. Trenchard scores at Southern Oregon Speedway

(Aug. 18) – Taking the lead from Jantzen Knips on the fourth lap, Nick Trenchard went on to win his second IMCA Modified main event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. It had been a last-minute decision for Trenchard to go racing. He’d won the $2,000 prize in the Roger Haudenshild Tribute race earlier this year and has positioned himself as one of the favorites to win the $5,000 R. Charles Snyder Salute on Labor Day Weekend. Knips raced into the early lead ahead of Duane Orsburn. Dave Duste Jr. led Trenchard around Orsburn on the second lap and a high pass on the fourth lap gained Trenchard the lead. Moments later, Knips spun for a caution flag. Trenchard pulled away after a couple later restarts and won ahead of Albert Gill and Zach Fettinger. Matt Sanders became the seventh different Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod winner in as many events this season at White City, holding off a late challenge from Rich McCoy.

Noteboom makes history at Park Jefferson

JEFFERSON, S.D. (Aug. 18) – IMCA Modified driver Jay Noteboom stole the show Saturday at Park Jefferson Speedway. Noteboom notched career win number 74 at Park Jefferson to pass Late Model Hall of Fame driver Joe Kosiski as the speedway’s all-time feature winner. With tears in his eyes, Noteboom accepted the checkers and trophy from flagman Nate Peterson. It was not an easy battle in the Artworks Graphics IMCA Modified special, as Chris Abelson was first to move to the lead on the multi-lane oval. Toward the late stages, Abelson drifted high off the track and gave up the lead. Noteboom saw his chance and pounced, then held off the challenges of Bob Moore to take the historic win. Abelson was third. Ryan Voss took the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win and Colin Smith the unofficial 2018 track championship.

Phillips captures much-anticipated Hobby Stock win at Stuart

By Cyndie Lamb STUART, Iowa (Aug. 17) – There were some emotions in victory lane to be sure, following Jack Phillips’ IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock win Friday at Stuart Speedway. Phillips held off all challengers in taking the checkers and his post-race speech was emotional as he announced this was his first win in 25 years. John Watson was second and Jeremy Purdy third. Clint Luellen led the IMCA Modifieds to the checkers and Brandon Pruitt was best in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Austin Luellen topped the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature and Hunter Patrick paced the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Lemke leads to Eagle checkers

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 18) – A 10-year veteran made his first visit to victory lane at Eagle Raceway Saturday night. Brint Lemke regained the lead on the final circuit in winning the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock main event. Shane Hiatt collected his second local Runner Freight IMCA Modified win of the season while Adam Gullion notched another IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory. Gunner Pike started ninth and finished first in the Hoosier Racing Tire IMCA Northern SportMod feature and Justin Callender prevailed in the ATV Motorsports IMCA Sport Compact main.

Saturday IMCA Modified feature at Perris pays $1,500 to win

PERRIS, Calif. – For the second month in a row, extra money will be up for grabs when IMCA Modifieds race at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, Aug. 25. The main event will pay $1,500 to win and is a qualifying event for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. There will be the $500 “Inland Rigging Fast Car Dash Presented by CP Carillo” and Billy Griffin will award $100 to the fastest Modified qualifier. A $125 Eibach Spring Forward award goes to the hard charger. The Modified feature will be 30 laps. The runner-up earns $600 with $450 paid for third. The grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.

Bubak collects Bob Salem Memorial checkers

OBERLIN, Kan. (Aug. 18) – Jake Bubak continued his winning ways in United Rebel Sprint Series action Friday, topping the 25-lap feature Saturday at Oberlin Speedway’s Bob Salem Memorial. The win was good for $700. Bubak took charge from his outside front row starting spot from the onset and began stretching his lead, Jake Martens wrestled second from Mark Walinder on lap four and began the pursuit of Bubak in earnest. Bubak proved he was the master through lapped traffic in the caution-free event as he captured his third feature of the year with the URSS and Martens settled for second. Third went to a rim-riding J.D Johnson as he passed both Jeremy Huish and Zach Blurton coming out of turn four to the checkers. Blurton beating Huish to line as he was caught behind a lapped car. Johnson’s bold move earned him the Keizer Wheels hard charger award as he had started 13th.
