White is good as gold in title race for Red River Southern SportMod Tour

ECTOR, Texas – Two firsts and a third made for a pretty good season for Rodney White. White won championships in both the inaugural IMCA Red River Tour and at Grayson County Speedway before ending the year third in the Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod national points race. From Ector, Texas, White made a career-high 44 starts at nine different tracks. He’d never been to four of the six venues on the Red River Tour slate before 2018. While White never got to the podium during the tour, he had a couple top five finishes and earned the title by racing his way from ‘B’ features to the main events on four nights. “There were a couple nights I didn’t even expect to do that good. Camaro nose pieces approved for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars in 2019

VINTON, Iowa – Camaro nose pieces have been approved for use by IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers beginning next season. Rules for 2019 have been clarified to include the Camaro nose as well as the Mustang nose. Nose pieces must have a maximum installed width of 73 inches, noted IMCA President Brett Root. “This is another update that stems from our attendance at the PRI show earlier this month in Indianapolis, where Performance Bodies and Dominator Race Products debuted Camaro nose pieces,” Root said. “Our rules will specify that if used, Camaro nose piece must be used with the GM body and the Mustang nose piece with the Ford body.” Performance Bodies part numbers are 45X040 for the Camaro nose piece, 46X040 for the Mustang nose piece and 45X100 for the tail piece, which can be used with either nose. The Dominator Camaro nose piece is part number DOM330. 2019 rules have been updated on the IMCA website to reflect the clarification.

Dates announced for 30th IMCA Dakota Classic Tour

MANDAN, N.D. – They’ll celebrate a milestone each night of the 2019 Kupper Chevrolet IMCA Dakota Classic Tour. IMCA Modifieds race for $2,400 to win along with berths on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot each night of the 30th annual tour, scheduled July 6-11. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are also on the card at Saturday through Thursday shows, running for $800 to win. The North Dakota and Saskatchewan-based tour starts at Jamestown Speedway on Saturday, July 6. This will be the 11th time Jamestown has hosted the series. Round two is Sunday, July 7, at Nodak Speedway. The Minot track was one of the three original tour venues and has hosted a date each year of the long-running series. Estevan Motor Speedway in Saskatchewan is next up on Monday, July 8. $43,500 in Chevrolet Performance bonuses paid to IMCA crate engine track champions

GRAND BLANC, Mich. – As part of one of the most lucrative programs for IMCA competitors, Chevrolet Performance has paid $43,500 in bonuses to drivers who won track championships while competing exclusively with crate engines in 2018. In all, 174 drivers in the IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod divisions received $250 checks, mailed this month from the IMCA home office. Both the number of drivers receiving bonuses, and the total bonus amount, were the most ever in the history of the program. Scholpp improves from 2017 standings to win IMCA Modified Gunslinger Tour title

ESTEVAN, Sask. – Kody Scholpp was second in standings at the end of the 2017 Gunslinger Tour and set his sights on finishing one spot better this year. And that’s exactly what he did, winning three times and collecting another five top five-finishes over the course of the mid-June IMCA Modified tour at tracks in Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota. “The Gunslinger Tour is more of a regional tour than a national one. Wild West Shootout family vacation ends with IMCA Modified tour title for Campos

KEIZER, Ore. – John Campos made a family vacation out of the eight-race Wild West Shootout. His consistency made him champion of the eighth annual tour for IMCA Modifieds. Campos, from Keizer, Ore., ran eighth on opening night and then sixth in each of the next two shows in the California and Oregon-based tour. He then reeled off five straight top four finishes, sealing the title with back-to-back third place finishes at Willamette Speedway. “I had followed the tour twice before. MYTON, Utah – Chase Hansen has celebrated four IMCA Modified track championships at Diamond Mountain Speedway. He finally got to celebrate a special series championship there this year. Hansen, from Myton, Utah, won the inaugural Sweet Diamond Challenge Series title, with the top point total from four races at Diamond Mountain and four more at Sweetwater Speedway. “It was pretty cool to get my first series championship,” he said. “I came close the last year of the Wild West Tour. It’s something I always wanted to do.” Hansen had put himself in the series driver’s seat with a sweep of the series-opening twinbill at Vernal in June. “We were fast that weekend,” he understated. “On the second night I passed my brother Dustin for the lead with about four laps to go. Roete ends long absence from racing with IMCA Bay Area Tour, Florida State crowns

MILTON, Fla. – Close to three decades after his last outings on dirt, James Roete has a pair of championships to show for his IMCA Modified rookie season. From Milton, Fla., Roete took top honors in both the Bay Area Modified Tour and Florida State standings. The Oelwein, Iowa, native had last raced as a high schooler, in the hobby stock class at Fayette County Raceway and Independence Motor Speedway. BROOKFIELD, Mo. – Hunter Marriott set the bar high in 2017. He raised it again this season. Marriott raced to a trio of IMCA Modified special series titles in 2018, repeating as champion of the Karl Performance Arizona Tour and earning a third straight Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Crown before topping Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights standings for the first time.
