IMCA’s best Modified drivers battle in Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions

BOONE, Iowa – It’s been one of the biggest Modified races on the IMCA schedule for more than three decades. And Jason Wolla will return to Boone Speedway in September, looking to defend his Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions title on the biggest stage in all of dirt track racing. Abelson captures Dirt Knight Tour bounty at BVR

ALTA, Iowa (July 24) – Add a new title to Chris Abelson’s racing resume: Bounty hunter. Abelson led all 30 laps of Wednesday’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour main event at Buena Vista Raceway, earning $2,000 for the IMCA Modified feature victory plus the $500 bounty offered to the driver who could stop Richie Gustin’s series streak. Abelson drew the pole and tussled with California challenger Cody Laney before and after restarts on the 18th circuit. The last 12 laps ran green. Laney stayed close but had to settle for second. Gustin, chasing a record fourth straight tour victory, started seventh and finished third. Completing the top five were in the Al Ritts Memorial race were Joel Rust and Kelly Shryock. Pollard prevails at Fayette County for first career Deery Series feature win

WEST UNION, Iowa (July 24) – Eric Pollard had never been to Fayette County Speedway before Wednesday night. Now he can’t wait to go back. Pollard led all 40 laps of the Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at West Union, earning $2,000 for his IMCA Late Model tour career first victory. The win came in front of a big and boisterous grandstand crowd during the county fair, and followed Pollard’s previous career best Deery finish when he ran fourth at Benton County Speedway on June 27. “We finished top five in Vinton and it seemed like we got the weight off our shoulders,” he said. “To win tonight and get that trophy was awesome.” Pollard drew the outside pole start after running second in his heat. Duffers tee off in 30th annual golf tourney

BOONE, Iowa – Golfers of all abilities will drive, chip and putt for a good cause at the 30th annual Duffers National Tournament. Tee times are 8:30-9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 for the four-person best shot tournament, to be held at the Cedar Pointe Golf Course. Each team is required to have at least one IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s participant. Cost is $40 per person, which includes nine holes of golf, a golf cart and lunch, and entries will be taken right up until tee time. The winning foursome earns $200 with $100 paid to the second place team. Remaining proceeds go to Shop With A Cop, which sees youngsters accompanied local law enforcement officers to pick out Christmas presents at Wal-Mart. Gustin wins, Hibdon impresses in Britt Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights feature

BRITT, Iowa (July 23) – Richie Gustin equaled an Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour record with his third straight victory Tuesday at Hancock County Speedway. Kollin Hibdon, meanwhile, turned heads with his runner-up finish in the IMCA Modified headliner at Britt. Gustin passed travel partner and race-long leader Hibdon on the 26th circuit, then led the last five laps to take the $1,500 checkers ahead of the youngster from Nevada, Jeremy Mills, Kyle Brown and Travis Hatcher. Hibdon had started from the pole, Gustin from inside row two. The front pair were five seconds ahead of their nearest pursuit by lap 10. Gustin used the middle line to take the lead in traffic and pulled away for his tour career-leading 11th win. Warrior nominations sought for honorary starters of last-chance Modified features

BOONE, Iowa – IMCA drivers and fans are asked to Nominate A Warrior as an honorary starter for each of the three last-chance Modified features on Saturday, Sept. 7 during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Current or former service members are eligible and letters or emails of nomination should be 500 words or less and tell about the nominee and their service to our country. Joe Crist Memorial IMCA Stock Car Shootout this Friday

OSBORN, Mo. – This Friday, July 26, is the third annual Joe Crist Memorial Stock Car Shootout at US 36 Raceway. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are racing for $1,262 to win and $125 to start. Heat races pay $62 to win among other bonuses. The weekend also provides an opportunity for Stock Car drivers to run two big money shows. The following night, Saturday, July 27, Bethany Speedway will complete the Stock Car weekend with a $1,262 to win race as well. The race pays $90 to start. Noll knows way to Canyon’s winner circle

By Tony Steele PEORIA, Ariz. (July 22) – Jason Noll captured his second Arizona Differential IMCA Modified win of the season Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park. Rookie T.J. Wyman rolled off on the front row of the feature next to Guy Norton, with Norton leading the way through the first two laps. Wyman took over on lap three while Norton’s evening ended early with mechanical issues. Meanwhile, Noll clicked his way through traffic, taking over the lead from Wyman as lap four was completed. John Parmeley worked his way through the field at the same time, moving into the runner-up spot from the 15th starting position. Noll held off Parmeley with Kenny Gill, Ryan Roath and Popeye Madrid rounding out the top five. George Fronsman picked up his sixth win in the Allscapes IMCA Stock Cars. Joe Vlasity now holds the most wins of the year in the Desert Restorations IMCA Hobby Stocks with his third win in 2019.
