Shryock Nips Fett at the Line in Hancock County Stock Car Thriller

BRITT, Iowa (June 26, 2026) — A last-corner pass and a drag race to the checkered flag highlighted Friday night’s IMCA action at Hancock County Speedway as defending national champion Kelly Shryock stole the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature in dramatic fashion.

Colby Fett appeared headed for victory after racing into the lead and controlling much of the 20-lap feature. But Shryock steadily reeled him in during the closing laps before making a bold move entering the final corner.

The Fertile driver completed the pass exiting turn four, edging Fett to the finish line by just 0.012 seconds.

Starting eighth, Shryock earned his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season, with two of those wins coming at Hancock County Speedway. Fett charged from 10th to finish a close second.

Dan Mackenthun completed the podium, Loren Pesicka Jr. finished fourth, and Parker Slagle advanced from 14th to fifth.

Fitz Leads Every Lap for First Hancock County Modified Victory

Trevor Fitz was untouchable in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature, leading from the opening green flag to score his first career victory at Hancock County Speedway.

The Camarillo, California, native collected his fifth Razor Chassis North Central Region win of the season and second overall victory of 2026 at four different tracks.

Jerry Flippo rallied from seventh to finish second, followed by Matt Looft and Izac Mallicoat. Florida native Owen Barnhill completed the top five.

Alec Fett Takes Control Midway for SportMod Win

Alec Fett took command at the halfway point of the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature and drove away for the victory. He now has two wins at two different tracks this year.

The Burt driver advanced from sixth to capture the win over Jacob Tachney. Ben Reierson charged from eighth to finish third, Summer Grady was fourth, and Charlie Stevens rounded out the top five.

Nielsen Makes Final-Corner Pass for Hobby Stock Victory

Brandon Nielsen used a dramatic last-lap move to steal the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Hobby Stock feature.

After chasing longtime leader James Burns throughout the race, the Spencer driver completed the winning pass in the final corner to secure his third B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory of the season, with wins now coming at three different tracks.

Burns settled for second ahead of Chris Krug, Josh Sidles and Jade Lange.

Burns earns first career feature win

By Greg Grabianowski  ALGONA, Iowa (July 16) – James Burns won his first career feature race to highlight an exciting night of dirt track racing at the Kossuth County Speedway on Thursday. The big night of racing drew another nice crowd count of 104 cars filling the pit area looking for a tune up for the upcoming Salute to Veterans show. Burns took the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature holding off a late challenge from Brandon Nielsen. The Al­gona driver was racing with a heavy heart as his grandmother had passed away earlier in the day and in a victory lane interview, dedicated the race to her.  Jay Sidles grabbed the early lead before an early caution. The race resumed as Burns used the high side to get past Sidles on lap four. Kossuth County to Salute Home Town Heroes on Veterans Night 

ALGONA, Iowa – Kossuth County Speedway’s salute to veterans on Home Town Heroes Night July 26 boasts $2,000 to win features for IMCA Modifieds, presented by Becks Hybrids, and for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, presented by Altenburg Construction/Slat Replacement Professionals. Both divisions have a $50 entry fee and are draw/redraw. Thursday’s Modified feature is a 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and Harris Dash at the Clash qualifier. All weekly classes run and all points, including track, will be awarded. Veterans can show their ID to receive free grandstand admission or $10 off a pit pass. Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m. and racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. Cars with patriotic wraps will be on display earlier in the day. More than $6,000 in prizes, including two limited edition Henry Golden Bay rifles, will be given in a drivers-only raffle.

Mills Masters Modifieds for $2,000 Schattschneider Memorial Payday at Algona

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 7, 2025) — Chaz Baca Jr. and Joel Rust brought the 21-car Friesen Performance IMCA Modified field to the flagstand for the green at Kossuth County Speedway on night four of the 2025 Iowa Speedweek and the Schattschneider Memorial. Baca led the first three laps around the Algona oval before Jeremy Mills powered into the lead on lap four. Once out front, Mills built a commanding advantage and never looked back, collecting his fourth feature win of the season at Algona and a $2,000 payday. The victory was also his 11th of 2025 in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Tim Ward finished second for $1,200, with Baca third and $1,100 richer.
