Mackenthun Masters Arlington Sibley County Stock Car Shootout for Huge Payday

By Susan Allen ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 30, 2025) — Dan Mackenthun made the most of a big night at his home track, scoring the biggest win of his career during the Sibley County Fair Stock Car Shootout at Arlington Raceway. The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car special paid $5,000 to win, and Mackenthun racked up an additional $1,725 for leading 23 of the 30 laps, plus a $100 bonus for his heat race win. His dominant effort also locked him into the prestigious B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational at this year’s Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The triumph marked Mackenthun’s seventh of the season in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and his fourth at the Arlington ½-mile. A stout field of 36 Stock Cars battled for a share of the $30,000 purse. Jake McBirnie paced the opening seven laps before a caution gave Mackenthun the opportunity he needed. Starting fifth, Mackenthun had already climbed to second by lap one and wasted no time slipping past McBirnie on the ensuing restart. Another yellow came [Read More]

Williamson Wires Cottage Grove Modified Midweek Mayhem

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 30, 2025) — Kevin Williamson dominated Wednesday night’s 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Cottage Grove Speedway, becoming the third different winner in as many rounds of the 2025 Midweek Mayhem Series. Piloting the Superior Fuel Cells-backed no. 42, the Coburg racer scored his second victory of the season at CGS and in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. Williamson grabbed the lead on the opening start and quickly separated himself from the rest of the field. He encountered light lapped traffic on lap eight but didn’t skip a beat as he built a commanding advantage. Things got interesting late as heavier traffic came into play with just three laps to go, but the five-time and reigning track champion Jake Mayden, wheeling the Dustin Brooks-owned no. 5M, couldn’t close the gap. Jesse Williamson, a multi-time IMCA Wild West Speedweek champion and older brother to the winner, finished third aboard the SDMF Customs no. W5 house car. Thornton Keeps Back Hibdon at Boone for First Salute to Vets Modified Win

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (July 26, 2025) — Dylan Thornton outdueled Kollin Hibdon in the late stages of a thrilling Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Boone Speedway, earning his first career win on the Hunting with Heroes Salute to Veterans Tour powered by Performance Bodies & Parts. The reigning Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s champion in both the Modified and Late Model divisions, originally from California and now living in Belle Plaine, Iowa, scored his fourth overall win of 2025 in the Modifieds and second in the Razor Chassis North Central Region — both at Boone. Thornton got the jump from the drop of the green and quickly set the tone, but multiple cautions early on interrupted the flow. California transplant Trevor Fitz, the 2019 IMCA California State champion, and eight-time defending Hancock County Speedway track champion Jeremy Mills fought hard for second before Thornton began to check out. Hibdon, champion of the Ernie Mincy Early Thaw Series back in February at Central Arizona Raceway, made his move late [Read More]

Suckow Scores First Stock Car Victory at Independence

By Christine Rublack INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 26, 2025) — Cole Suckow raced to his first-ever victory in a Sunoco IMCA Stock Car Saturday night at Independence Motor Speedway, taking charge early and never looking back. Riley Hanson and Brett Vanous waged a fierce battle for second with Tom Schmitt in close pursuit. As Hanson and Vanous ran side-by-side, Suckow extended his advantage and cruised to the checkers. Hanson and Vanous completed the podium. Cordes Captures Modified Glory In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Mike Burbridge led most of the way but it was Troy Cordes who scored the win in the closing laps. Burbridge looked strong out front as Jerry King and Keith Pittman chased. A tight three-car battle between Jacob Snyder, Mark Schulte, and Cordes shaped up behind them.  By midway, Schulte was sizing up King for second while Burbridge began navigating traffic. The final laps brought the field together, and Cordes found momentum on the high side to surge into the lead. He crossed the stripe first for his second Razor Chassis North Central [Read More]

Tyson Blood Gets 3rd Grays Harbor Modified Win of the Season

By Shaun Hulbert Elma, Wash. (July 27, 2025) — Four-time Washington State IMCA Champion and four-time Grays Harbor Track Champion Tyson Blood kept the momentum rolling with his third win of the season at Grays Harbor Raceway and fifth overall in the 2025 Shaw Race Cars Western Region for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Jake Sorenson led the early laps, fending off multiple challenges from Brenton Schnitzer. On lap nine, the battle for the lead reached a fever pitch as Blood made it three-wide on the front stretch. Entering turn one, Schnitzer got loose trying to avoid contact with Sorenson, clipped Blood, bounced off an infield tire, and came to a stop—bringing out the race’s only caution. On the restart, Blood powered to the outside and drove around Sorenson to take the lead for good. He never looked back and cruised to victory. Sorenson held on for second, while Jeff Westergard charged forward from 10th to round out the podium in third. The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV affiliate Grays Harbor Raceway TV. Nelson Nabs Fifth Salute to Veterans Tour Victory in Hobby Stocks at Algona

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 24, 2025) — The Salute to Veterans Tour rolled into Kossuth County Speedway for its biggest night of the season, and despite nearly two inches of rain in the previous 24 hours, track manager Kevin Long and his crew worked their magic to make the surface race-ready in just five hours. Dylan Nelson took advantage of the outside front row starting spot and led the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature from the start. A series of cautions slowed the action, including a lap five tangle between Parker Larson and Blake Luinenburg, and more yellows involving Brayden Fahmi and Trevor Iverson. Nelson continued to lead through each restart, with Skylar Pruitt staying within striking distance. The final caution flew with just two laps remaining due to debris in turn four, but it wasn’t enough to shake Nelson’s rhythm. He went on to capture his third Salute to Veterans Tour win in Algona and fifth overall in the series. The $1,000 payday also marked his first B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory [Read More]

Morgan Muscles to Victory at Outlaw in Series Return to Dundee

By Michael Benjamin DUNDEE, N.Y. (July 25, 2025) — It had been five years since the Close Racing Supply NY/Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by Insinger Performance last visited Outlaw Speedway, but Rodney Morgan made sure the wait was worth it. Morgan earned his first DeVilbiss Racing Eastern Region victory of 2025 with a commanding performance in Friday night’s 25-lap main event. A stout field of 22 Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds filled the pit area for the long-awaited return to the “Baddest Dirt Track on the Planet.” Brad Delamater took the initial lead from the pole and paced the first six laps. A lap four caution for Matt Roberts bunched the field after Roberts made contact with the backstretch wall in a wild three-wide battle for third. On the restart, Morgan found his line and charged past Delamater on lap seven. From there, he set sail, leading the rest of the way to claim the $1,510.10 payday. Keith Lamphere and Tyler Belcher completed the podium in second and third, respectively.

Rodney Morgan Rules the Bullring to Win Sean Lias Memorial at Woodhull

By Michael Benjamin WOODHULL, N.Y. (July 26, 2025) — Rodney Morgan made it a weekend to remember by capturing his second win in as many nights during the 5th Annual Sean Lias Memorial Race at Woodhull Raceway. The victory marked Morgan’s second win of the current campaign in the DeVilbiss Racing Eastern Region. Seventeen Friesen Performance IMCA Modified drivers signed in for the Saturday night program at the Bullring, with the feature doubling as a points race for Woodhull regulars. Shawn Bruce and Earl Zimmer led the field to the green for the 25-lap main presented by Chasin Dreams Transport and Lubic Sales and Marketing. Zimmer led the opening three laps before Morgan made his move and powered into the top spot on lap four. The event’s rhythm was interrupted by rain on lap 13, forcing officials to halt the race while the passing shower moved through. Once racing resumed, Morgan left no doubt, holding strong to the checkers. Zimmer held on for second while Bruce crossed the line in third.
