Wilinski, Forstner, Schmidt all repeat at Shawano

(Aug. 15) – It almost felt like déjà vu all over again Saturday as Konnor Wilkinski, Chucky Forstner and Jayden Schmidt returned to victory lane for the second week in a row at Shawano Speedway. Lap one of the IMCA Modified feature saw Kevin Feck go from third to first to lead the field. As Feck led, Wilinski began to work through traffic after starting 10th. A caution after lap six bunched the field up and Wilinski capitalized, going from his third place restart position to the inside of Feck to snag the lead. Wilinski did not look back as he drove to his second win of the year. Feck finished in second and Marcus Yarie raced all the way from 18th to third. Seidler, Sandberg celebrate on Anniversary Night at Mandan

MANDAN, N.D. (Aug. 14) – Dacotah Speedway celebrated its 30th anniversary and Marlyn Seidler and Ken Sandberg celebrated IMCA feature wins Friday night. Crist Pittenger passed pole sitter Tony Marsh for the lead in the IMCA Modified feature, then was pressured by Scott Gartner and Seidler. Gartner briefly took the lead on lap seven but that was short-lived as Seidler slipped by to take the lead on lap 11. Gartner then started to fade through the field, losing positions to Spencer Wilson, Shawn Strand and Travis Olheiser. Strand passed Wilson who then fell into the clutches of Olheiser. Making a late-race pass, Rusty Kollman finished fifth behind Wilson. Ohleiser finished third while Strand finished a distant second. Seidler was in another zip code as he cruised to victory lane to his 97th career IMCA Modified feature victory. Price ends PASS slump with Path Valley feature win

(Aug. 14) – Fleetwood teenager Landon Price found the antidote for a brief racing slump Friday night, capturing the 25-lap Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Path Valley Speedway. After an early-race battle for third with Garrett Bard, Price caught up with and passed leader John Walp and was untouchable from that point on in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main event. Price would have come into the night’s racing as a long shot. This was only his fourth Path Valley start, with a previous best of ninth, and ninth also was his best finish in his last six PASS events. A two-time winner last year in his first full season steering a RaceSaver car, the young chauffeur seemed headed in the wrong direction before Friday corrected that impression. Blurton tops URSS finale at Oberlin Bob Salem Memorial

OBERLIN, Kan. (Aug. 14-15) – The runner-up on opening night was the winner on night two, when the Mel Hambelton Ford Racing Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series traveled to Oberlin Speedway for the Bob Salem Memorial. Zach Blurton topped the Saturday show for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars after passing Koby Walters for the front spot on the 14th of 25 circuits. Jake Martens, Walters, Monty Ferriera, and Jed Werner rounded out the top five. Monty Ferriera took off with the early lead and stretched his advantage to about eight car-lengths before slipping off of the track and passing the lead position to Walters. Lap 14 found Blurton riding around the top of turn two to get past Walters for the lead while Ferriera worked his way back into fourth. Nordyke paces Dodge City Prelude

(Aug. 15) – Monty Nordyke scored his first Dodge City Raceway Park win in the Prelude to the IMCA SportMod Mayhem while Dakota Sproul continued his recent run of IMCA Modified supremacy by racing to his third consecutive DCRP triumph Saturday night. In the 20-lap Prelude to next weekend’s SportMod Mayhem, Nordyke capitalized on Luke Stallbaumer’s mechanical woes and then held off son Brendyn over the closing rounds for his first DCRP score. Nordyke became the race’s fourth different leader when he battled past Bart Baker on a lap 14 restart that followed a caution for Stallbaumer’s disabled mount on the backstretch. After Dan Rogers led the opening round, Stallbaumer had battled past Baker for the point on the eighth circuit only to suffer race-ending driveline issues seven laps shy of the checkered flag. McBirnie posts first IMCA Modified victory at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 15) – The IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s are in sight, and the drivers are already prepping for the 38th annual event at Boone Speedway as 228 cars packed the pits on Saturday night that included an IMCA Sport Compact shakedown along with all of the regular divisions. Jake McBirnie grabbed the lead from Joel Bushore with a handful of laps in the books in the 20-lap main event for IMCA Modifieds. Just a lap later, it was 12th place starter Joel Rust who was challenging him for the lead. The two swapped the top spot back and forth for several laps until Rust suddenly pulled into the infield with mechanical issues. McBirnie then pulled away from the field and took his career-first win in the division well ahead of second place Nick Meyer. Bushore took third. (Aug. 15) – Shane DeVolder won the battle, Bobby Hogge IV won the war and Garrett Jernagan won both on the final night of California IMCA Speedweek presented by Hoppes Motorsports. DeVolder won the IMCA Modified feature at Bakersfield Speedway, earning $1,000 and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth, while runner-up Hogge took the overall Modified tour title. Jernagan clinched the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod crown with his fifth $750 victory of the week. DeVolder regained the lead from Alyssa Smith before a long green flag run got him into lapped traffic. IMCA Modifieds chasing $1,500 check at Murray County special

SLAYTON, Minn. – A $1,500 to win, 2021 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event gets top billing at Murray County Speedway’s Aug. 21 Swede Shootout/Muecke Memorial special. There is no entry fee and Modifieds run for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and KMJ Performance Minnesota State points, but not track points, in their draw/redraw show. Completing the Friday night program are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts with national, regional, state and track points on the line. Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 7:15 p.m. with racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and free for kids 8 and under. Pit passes are $30.

Heckman hauls Hanford IMCA Modified mail, Speedweek SportMod checkers fly for Curran

(Aug. 14) – Round five of the California Modified Speedweek presented by Hoppes took the tour to Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds, where Kyle Heckman prevailed over a field of 64 IMCA Modified entries and Brent Curran collected his first Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod victory. The Modified feature ran non-stop and Heckman took control of race lead from the get-go, pulling away from the rest of the pack and never looking back. Heckman handled lapped traffic perfectly, earning $1,000 and a spot on the 2021 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot while becoming the fifth different winner in as many Speedweek events. Race For Trace is Tuesday at Fairmont

FAIRMONT, Minn. – IMCA drivers Race For Trace next Tuesday, Aug. 18 at Fairmont Raceway. The midweek show boasts a $25,000-plus purse but more importantly raises funds to help pay medical costs for car owner and sponsor Trace Iverson. Three dollars from each admission ticket sold will be donated and the 15 drivers Iverson helps sponsor will pass their helmets in the grandstand and pit area. Items to be auctioned include donated door panels while the raffle includes a wheel autographed by Richard Petty.
