Mills finds smooth line, Harris wins from last on opening night for Midwest Madness Tour

JEFFERSON, S.D. (June 27) – Chris Mills found the smooth line and Ryan Harris raced to an IMCA career first on opening night of the Karl Kustoms Midwest Madness Tour. Mills was the $1,200 IMCA Modified winner at The New Raceway Park, while Harris won the Sunday feature for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, and $1,000, from the 24th and last starting spot. Defending track and KMJ Performance State champion Mills stayed where it was smooth from fifth starting, staying low in the first set of turns and high in the second, and had the Modified lead early into the 25-lapper. After a series of early yellows, the race ended with a long green flag run, getting the win ahead of Travis Hatcher and 17th starting Ricky Stephan. $1,000 top check, All-Star berth for IMCA Modifieds at stake July 4 at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa – A $1,000 to win, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event for IMCA Modifieds is now scheduled this Sunday at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway. IMCA Sunoco Late Models, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are also on the July 4 ticket and all divisions will be draw/redraw. The Fast-Shafts qualifying event for Modifieds was rained out and rescheduled from last Sunday. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. with racing to follow. Pit passes are $30 or $15 for kids ages 7-13 and free for six and under. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors ages 65 and up, $6 for student ages 13-17 and free for kids 12 and under accompanying a paid adult. BANKS, Ore. – The winner of Sunset Speedway’s inaugural Firecracker 100 for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars takes $5,000 to the bank. The 100-lap special brings the curtain down on the Sunday, July 4 special, the top-paying event in the history of the Banks track. The winner also earns an automatic starting spot in the B & B Chassis All-Star race. No entry fee will be charged and pit passes are $40. Ward, Murty, Carter motor to Granite City Land of Ten Thousand Lakes IMCA wins

SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (June 27) – Tim Ward and Dallon Murty ended Land of Ten Thousand Lakes 10K Week with $10,000 feature wins while Brayton Carter’s $5,000 checkers bookended the richest week ever of IMCA racing in Minnesota. Ward wired the IMCA Modified 50-lapper Sunday at Granite City Motor Park, chased every time around the quick 3/8-mile Sauk Rapids oval by Cody Laney while Murty made his way to the lead from 10th starting just before halfway of the 50-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main and outdistanced Elijah Zevenbergen. Wood earns first Oil Capital victory at Southern Oklahoma

(June 26) – With five top five and nine top 10 finishes coming into Saturday’s AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, Danny Wood has been on the verge of getting his first victory. The wait is over. Wood started on the pole and went the distance to win his first career series feature at Ardmore. While Wood was in firm command of the top spot, there was plenty of driver movement behind him. Joe Bob Lee started 10th and worked his way through the field to second but was six seconds behind Wood at the finish. Magee breaks through, Schroeder wins fourth at Wagner

WAGNER, S.D. (June 25) – On an evening that had threats of rain, week eight of the Fort Randall Casino Weekly Racing Series at Wagner Speedway took the green flag Friday night with a mission: Let’s get this show in! Mission accomplished. The IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main event led off the show and to say that Joel Magee has waited a long time for a win would be the understatement of the year. Magee has a home in Florida and commutes to and from the region multiple times during the summer by air to race at IMCA tracks in the area. Conn wins Red Dirt Raceway’s Mike Peters Classic

(June 25) – Tanner Conn took advantage of his outside front row starting position to win the 40-lap AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series 40-lap Mike Peters Classic Friday at Red Dirt Raceway. It was Conn’s first career victory with the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series and he became the seventh different OCRS winner of the 2021 season. It took Conn two laps to get past pole sitter Brandon Jennings. Once out front, Conn led the remaining 38 laps. Gary Lamphere took over the lead position on lap four, with Eddie Sites tucked up tight to Lamphere’s bumper. Sites took command on the next circuit, and fought off multiple challenges from Rodney Morgan, who was driving the Rick Watt number 99 this week. Portland, Mich.’s Jeff Reay, who won at Tri City Motor Speedway last Friday. and backed it up with a win in the Eastern IMCA All Stars at Thunderbird Raceway on Wednesday, was on the move from 10th starting position, and took over second on the 17th lap. Festive July 4 set for Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa – With both attempts at holding the Benton County Fair races washed out, the focus now shifts to Sunday, July 4 at Benton County Speedway. And it’s going to be big. As part of “A Celebration at The Bullring” on the Independence Day holiday, the speedway will host weekly racing in all five divisions, plus the Lil’ Racer Car Club benefit raffle.
