Gallaher Charges to First SportMod Victory of Season at Ocean

By Gary Thomas WATSONVILLE, Calif. (Jun. 13, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods once again brought out the best car count of the night at Ocean Speedway, with 16 total racers on hand. A trio of different leaders were seen in another outstanding main event. Jim DiGiovanni led the opening laps before Max Baggett made the move around him on lap three. San Jose’s Rob Gallaher, however, would not be denied. The driver of the X mount blasted into the top spot on lap six and never looked back—despite a late green-white-checkered restart. Sawyer Strikes Again in Modifieds at Bakersfield

(June 13, 2025) – After winning the season opener for the renovated and relaunched Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway in March, Bakersfield’s Robby Sawyer returned to victory lane on Friday night in the 30-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. Sawyer earned his second win of the season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region, with both victories coming at Bakersfield. Once action resumed following a red flag incident, Sawyer passed Dalton Houghton on lap 12 and fended him off the rest of the way for the triumph. Jake Pike, the round two winner from Nevada, finished second, while Ricky Childress Jr. rounded out the top three. James Claims First Southern Oregon Score in IMCA Wild West Speedweek Opener

(Jun. 14, 2025) — Ryan Peery set the early pace from the pole in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Southern Oregon Speedway, driving the Morgan Creswell-owned No. 5K as part of the opening leg of the 2025 IMCA Wild West Speedweek. Eston Whisler took command on lap six but suffered mechanical issues that ended his night, giving the lead back to the 2022 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod track champion, Peery. That allowed 2022 Speedweek and 2019 Shaw Race Cars Western Region champion Bricen James to begin applying pressure. Dinsmore Dominates for Wednesday Modified Win at I-37

Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (Jun. 11, 2025) – The opening night of I-37 Speedway’s three-race Wednesday mini-series for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds put $1,000 on the line, and Logan Dinsmore made sure no one else came close to touching it. After redrawing the pole, Dinsmore jumped out front at the drop of the green when Dean Abbey brushed the front stretch wall. Abbey lost momentum, allowing Cody Leonard to slip into second. Jared Maupin worked by both Abbey and Leonard to grab the runner-up spot, with Abbey quickly reclaiming third and setting his sights on Maupin. While Maupin and Abbey diced for second, Dinsmore stretched his advantage. By halfway, the Kerrville hotshoe had checked out entirely. Abbey finally got around Maupin late, but it was too little, too late to challenge the leader. Dinsmore, flawless in traffic, cruised to his first GRT Race Cars South Central Region win of the season. Abbey and Maupin rounded out the top three.

IMCA Announces 2025 Stock Car Body Rule Amendment Effective Immediately

VINTON, Iowa (June 13, 2025) — The International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) has announced an immediate amendment to the 2025 Stock Car body rules regarding the use of the MD3 Camaro Stock Car body kit. The original rule stated:“IMCA approved MD3 Stock Car kit (part no. 33131-10200-X) is allowed. This Camaro kit must remain as produced, complete and unaltered. The kit components may not be used with any other body style.” Effective today, the following exceptions have been approved and added to the 2025 rulebook: These updates are effective immediately at all IMCA-sanctioned events nationwide. “This amendment gives our racers utilizing the Camaro body style more flexibility without compromising the integrity or identity,” said IMCA President, Brett Root. The three-time track champion used the high line to power into the lead on the opening circuit and built a commanding advantage on the historic 3/8-mile oval. Despite persistent pressure from Clay Simpson, Callahan looked unshakable. Simpson’s challenge cooled as Ron Klein took over second and began to close in. But Klein’s charge ended with a spin in turn four on lap 22, setting up a three-lap sprint to the finish. Moyer Breaks Through at Selinsgrove with PA Sprint Series

(Jun. 4, 2025) — Paul Moyer, a hard-working guy who largely funds his own team and brings his car to the track on an open trailer, scored his first career win Wednesday night in the 20-lap River Valley Builders PA Sprint Series feature at Selinsgrove Speedway. A second-place finish in his heat race enabled Moyer to draw for his feature starting position, and he drew the pole. From there, the Beaver Springs resident out-dragged Christian Rumsey for the early lead and wired the field in a non-stop race that took less than seven minutes to complete. His margin of victory was 1.385 seconds. Rumsey, from Middletown, New York, fought off a challenge from Josh Spicer and held onto second.

Stock Car Spotlight Shines on Worthington Speedway on June 14

(Jun. 12, 2025) — The stars of the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars will be out in full force this Saturday, June 14 at Worthington Speedway, with a $2,000 payday awaiting the winner of the special event. Stock Cars will run a draw/redraw format and compete for IMCA National, EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region, Minnesota State, and track points. There is no entry fee for drivers, though a $35 pit pass is required. A free Hoosier Racing Tire will also be given away to one lucky competitor. A lucrative purse structure will reward top finishers, with $1,000 for second, $600 for third, $400 for fourth, and $300 for fifth.
