Blood Takes Timber Cup Barnburner in Modified Monday Main at Elma

ELMA, Wash. (June 15, 2026) — Tyson Blood charged from ninth starting position and edged Kyler Moore in a dramatic last-lap battle to win Monday night’s Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature during the Timber Cup at Grays Harbor Raceway.

Scott Miller led the opening two circuits before Moore took command on lap three and appeared to have the race under control for much of the 20-lap contest.

Blood steadily worked his way through the field and moved into second with eight laps remaining, setting his sights on the leader. Moore maintained a comfortable advantage until a caution with three laps to go erased his lead and set up a thrilling finish.

On the restart, Moore and Blood traded the lead multiple times as the pair raced wheel-to-wheel over the closing laps. Blood completed the winning move at the checkered flag, prevailing by just .039 seconds in one of the closest finishes of the season at Grays Harbor Raceway.

Moore settled for second, while Brenton Schnitzer completed the podium after finishing only .304 seconds behind the runner-up. Craig Moore and Miller rounded out the top five.

The victory was Blood’s second of the season in the DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region and his second triumph at a different track in 2026.

The Tumwater driver also earned Elma Lanes Hard Charger honors after advancing eight positions.

Heat race victories went to Kyler Moore and Scott Miller.

IMCA Northern SportMods, Hobby Stocks new at Grays Harbor in 2022

ELMA, Wash. – Two more IMCA divisions debut on the dirt in Washington in 2022, with Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks joining select Saturday night programs at Grays Harbor Raceway. Northern SportMod race dates are May 14, June 25 during the third annual West Coast Modified Clash and July 22 and 23, as part of the 23rd annual Shipwreck Beads Nationals. Ferrando Flies to $2,000 West Coast Modified Clash Victory at Grays Harbor

(May 23, 2026) — The opening night of the 2026 West Coast Modified Clash at Grays Harbor Raceway brought 33 Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds to battle at the fast 3/8-mile clay oval. Scio, Oregon’s Grey Ferrando jumped to the early lead and set a torrid pace out front in the 30-lap feature. Behind him, Matt Sanders charged through the field from his 12th starting position in his Grays Harbor Raceway debut, climbing to second by lap seven while navigating heavy traffic. Sanders began reeling in Ferrando in lapped traffic and cut the lead down to 1.7 seconds before a caution slowed the field. Another quick yellow for Jesse Williamson tightened things up again, allowing Collen Winebarger, a late entry during the wheel of the Swan Island Sheet Metal-owned No. 99S, to work into third. Williamson is captain of IMCA Shipwreck Beads Nationals

By Aaron Reed ELMA, Wash. (July 15, 2023) – Jesse Williamson made another trip to victory lane at Grays Harbor Raceway Saturday night, this one worth $7,500. One night after topping the race of champions at Elma, Williamson outran and outlasted the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified field at Grays Harbor Raceway, topping the 24th annual Shipwreck Beads Nationals main event ahead of 2022 race winner Collen Winebarger. The Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational eligibility qualifying victory was Williamson’s fifth. Grey Ferrando, Geoff Morris and Robert Jenner rounded out the top five. A who’s who of Modified drivers from the Pacific Northwest and Canada vied for starting spots on the 24-car grid and Bricen James took the early lead with Jon DeBenedetti in second and Williamson third. Bannister Leads Every Lap for Bakersfield Modified Win

(June 13, 2026) — Points leader Bannister dominated the 25-lap Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern County Raceway, leading all the way from the pole position after winning his heat race earlier in the evening. The Bakersfield driver scored his seventh victory of the season in the DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region and his second at Bakersfield in 2026. One of the night’s biggest storylines involved 2024 track champion Gavyn Manning, who was among four drivers attempting double-duty between Santa Maria Speedway and Bakersfield Speedway. After winning earlier in the evening at Santa Maria, Manning charged into second place before mechanical issues ended his bid for another victory. Sweetwater Speedway Hosts Ken Hansen Memorial Modified Spectacular July 3-4

(June 16, 2026) — Sweetwater Speedway will host one of the biggest racing weekends in Wyoming on July 3-4 with the annual Ken Hansen Memorial Modified Spectacular. The two-day event will feature two complete draw/re-draw programs, with competitors racing each night for Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing National, Wyoming State, and regional points. Modified competitors will race for DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region points, Stock Cars for EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region points, and Hobby Stocks for B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region points.
