All-Star qualifying format announced for IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – Two rounds of group time trials will fill starting fields for both Modified and Stock Car All-Star Invitationals at the Sept. 6-11 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Qualifying for the inaugural B & B Chassis Stock Car All-Star Invitational will be Wednesday, Sept. 8 at Boone Speedway. Five drivers from the Northern Region and five drivers from the Southern Region advance from the first round; with winners of sanctioned events paying $5,000 or more guaranteed starting spots, the number of at-large qualifiers from round two that evening is yet to be determined. Qualifying for the 18th annual Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 9. Gallatin Speedway promoter’s daughter Ali Weisz shooting for Olympic gold

BELGRADE, Mont. – Ali Weisz was 17 years old when she told interviewers her goal was to compete at the Olympics. The daughter of Gallatin Speedway promoter Dave Weisz will do just that this week as a member of the U.S. Shooting Team. She’ll go for the gold in 10 meter women’s air rifle competition, the first event following the opening ceremony on Friday. “She was in elementary when she brought home a flyer about a BB gun safety program one day and decided it was something she wanted to do,” Weisz said. “Ali started with a BB gun in the basement of a gun shop and did that two nights a week.” It was quickly obvious that Ali was a natural and she began competitive shooting and setting records across Montana. IMCA RaceSaver Sprints run at Front Row Challenge

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars make their annual visit to Southern Iowa Speedway for the Front Row Challenge special on Aug. 9, running for $1,000 to win. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start the Monday night main event and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and KMJ Performance Iowa State points will be awarded for the Badger Steel USA-sponsored event. There is no entry fee; pit passes are $40. Admission is $30 for adults and $15 for ages 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased through the Front Row Challenge website. Barona Speedway hosts July 24 Summer Shootout special

LAKESIDE, Calif. – The inaugural IMCA Summer Shootout brings IMCA Modifieds to Barona Speedway for a Saturday, July 24 $2,000 to win Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods race for $1,600 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $1,500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $500 to win that evening. Drivers in all four divisions can pre-register at www.imcasummershootout.com. Pit gates open at noon and racing starts at 5 p.m. Car and driver is $75 and pit passes are $30. LaCrosse, Snellenberger, Rass make history with Eric Van Iten Memorial wins

(July 18) – More than 200 cars from five states checked in to battle for a total combined purse that exceeded $63,000 by night’s end at the historic Eric Van Iten Memorial Race at The ‘Burg Speedway. Benji LaCrosse entered the night looking for his third consecutive win at The ‘Burg in the IMCA Modified division but would face the stiffest competition of the year as 50 total cars signed to duke it out for the $7,000 top prize. Brandon Schmitt rolled out of the lineup chute on the pole and jumped to the lead. LaCrosse capitalized on an early restart to shoot into third behind Schmitt and Josh Long. By lap six, Shawn Kilgore worked into the fourth position and gave chase to the top three. LaCrosse worked the low side past Long on lap 18 and set his 54 machine to stalking Schmitt. ELMA, Wash. – Bragging rights are at stake on opening night of Grays Harbor Raceway’s July 23 and 24 Shipwreck Beads IMCA Modified Nationals. Bragging rights, $2,500 and a berth on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational are on the line on night two. Previous Nationals winners and track champions comprise Friday’s $500 to win race of champions field. They’ll be among the contenders for Saturday’s big check at Elma’s 22nd annual special. “We hope to pull drivers from as far away as California and Arizona,” said promoter Bert Johnson. “There are a lot of bragging rights involved but this is really a fun event. Meyer, Albrant among winners at Boone Speedway

The 167 cars that checked into the track put on some of the best racing of the year with close finishes and exciting action throughout all classes. Nick Meyer in the IMCA Modifieds was a first-time winner at Boone, as was Nate Albrant in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Dillon Raffurty in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Eric Stanton returned to victory lane in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Devin Smith picked up his fourth regular season victory in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division. Towns tops Cottage Grove IMCA Modified main

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 16) – Curtis Towns raced to IMCA Modified win number two of the season at Cottage Grove Speedway Friday night. Paul Rea was the early race leader in the main event. The veteran chauffeur set a fast pace until his driveline spat out, on lap five, sidelining him for the rest of the race. Inheriting the lead position was Towns. Towns stayed in the coveted position for the balance of the distance despite feeling brief periods of pressure. Towns scored his second win of 2021 in Cottage Grove competition. Eston Whisler was a strong second, followed by Ryan Baker. The rest of the top five was made up of Steven Sturdevant and Paul Culp. Berry is IMCA Modified winner, Murty takes big money at Marshalltown

Two drivers kept their winning streaks going as Kaden Reynolds rolled to another win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division, as did Dillon Raffurty in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Dallon Murty took home the $1,000 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car special, Jenae Gustin found her way to victory lane in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, Tom Berry claimed the win in the IMCA Modifieds and the Mach-1 Sport Compacts joined the regular classes with Adam Gates taking that victory. Last year’s track champion and defending IMCA national champion Berry made his presence known once again at the High Banks, as he piloted his new ride to victory.
