Ward, Murty, Carter motor to Granite City Land of Ten Thousand Lakes IMCA wins

SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (June 27) – Tim Ward and Dallon Murty ended Land of Ten Thousand Lakes 10K Week with $10,000 feature wins while Brayton Carter’s $5,000 checkers bookended the richest week ever of IMCA racing in Minnesota. Ward wired the IMCA Modified 50-lapper Sunday at Granite City Motor Park, chased every time around the quick 3/8-mile Sauk Rapids oval by Cody Laney while Murty made his way to the lead from 10th starting just before halfway of the 50-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main and outdistanced Elijah Zevenbergen. Winner of the opening night feature Thursday at Princeton, Carter led start to finish of the 30-lap Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main event, besting Colby Fett and hard-charging Jim Horejsi. Wood earns first Oil Capital victory at Southern Oklahoma

(June 26) – With five top five and nine top 10 finishes coming into Saturday’s AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, Danny Wood has been on the verge of getting his first victory.   The wait is over. Wood started on the pole and went the distance to win his first career series feature at Ardmore.   While Wood was in firm command of the top spot, there was plenty of driver movement behind him. Joe Bob Lee started 10th and worked his way through the field to second but was six seconds behind Wood at the finish. Steven Shebester moved from fifth to third while Joe Wood Jr. came from seventh to fourth. Magee breaks through, Schroeder wins fourth at Wagner

WAGNER, S.D. (June 25) – On an evening that had threats of rain, week eight of the Fort Randall Casino Weekly Racing Series at Wagner Speedway took the green flag Friday night with a mission:  Let’s get this show in! Mission accomplished. The IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main event led off the show and to say that Joel Magee has waited a long time for a win would be the understatement of the year. Magee has a home in Florida and commutes to and from the region multiple times during the summer by air to race at IMCA tracks in the area.   Magee was a five-time champion at Raceway Park at Jefferson, SD and a two-time champion at Park Jefferson International Speedway, also at Jefferson. Following his last win in 1999 at the now defunct Blackbird Bend Speedway outside of Onawa, Iowa, he retired. Billy Maynard Memorial next for NY-Penn IMCA Modifieds

MONROETON, Pa. – Round three of their NY-Penn Series takes IMCA Modifieds back to The Hill Speedway for the $1,269 to win Billy Maynard Memorial. Conn wins Red Dirt Raceway’s Mike Peters Classic

(June 25) – Tanner Conn took advantage of his outside front row starting position to win the 40-lap AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series 40-lap Mike Peters Classic Friday at Red Dirt Raceway.  It was Conn’s first career victory with the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series and he became the seventh different OCRS winner of the 2021 season.   It took Conn two laps to get past pole sitter Brandon Jennings. Once out front, Conn led the remaining 38 laps. Joe Wood Jr. started sixth and raced his way into second on lap 32 but could not catch Conn. Joe Bob Lee, who started 15th after transferring from the ‘B’ main, moved into third on the final lap. Danny Smith and Steven Shebester finished fourth and fifth, respectively.   Feature results – 1. Eddie Sites tops podium at The Hill

(June 25) – The front row of Friday’s IMCA Modified feature at The Hill Speedway was a family affair, as Aaron and Matt Benjamin paced the field.  Gary Lamphere took over the lead position on lap four, with Eddie Sites tucked up tight to Lamphere’s bumper. Sites took command on the next circuit, and fought off multiple challenges from Rodney Morgan, who was driving the Rick Watt number 99 this week. Portland, Mich.’s Jeff Reay, who won at Tri City Motor Speedway last Friday. and backed it up with a win in the Eastern IMCA All Stars at Thunderbird Raceway on Wednesday, was on the move from 10th starting position, and took over second on the 17th lap.  Reay caught the leader, but ran out of time and recorded second at the end of the 20-lap affair. Festive July 4 set for Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa – With both attempts at holding the Benton County Fair races washed out, the focus now shifts to Sunday, July 4 at Benton County Speedway. And it’s going to be big. As part of “A Celebration at The Bullring” on the Independence Day holiday, the speedway will host weekly racing in all five divisions, plus the Lil’ Racer Car Club benefit raffle. A giant fireworks display will close out the holiday program following the races. Weekly racing will feature KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Albert Auto Service, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by Kwik Star, Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts presented by Auto Crafters. Czarapata gets first Outagamie win of season

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 25) – Friday’s IMCA Modified headliner at Outagamie Speedway started with J.J. Andersen jumping to an early lead as Cody Schroeder and Jason Czarapata gave chase. Czarapata was the first to work the cushion, working his way around Schroeder for second. Czarapata set his sights on Andersen, who was running the tires. Czarapata swept around Andersen and to the lead on lap nine. Schroeder followed suit around the outside, closing right to the back bumper of Czarapata. Schroeder made every move possible but couldn’t find the grip to make the pass. Czarapata scored his first win of the season and a clean sweep to boot. Schroeder had to settle for second at the pay window, Andersen was third. The race went green to checkers. Marshalltown wins race with Mother Nature

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 25) – Three new faces visited victory lane this season on a fast-paced KMJ Performance Free Grandstand Night and Iowa Seamless Gutter VIP Night Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. New winners were Paul Nagle in the IMCA Modifieds, Jay Schmidt in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Vern Jackson in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods.  Jacob Murray and Nagle led the IMCA Modified field to green. Nagle immediately grabbed the lead as Murray settled into second. Ronn Lauritzen started eighth and took over second from Murray with just three laps remaining in the contest. In the closing circuits, Nagle pulled away and took the easy win, with Lauritzen trailing a good distance to take the runner-up spot. Murray held on to finish third. Dotson, LaCrosse take home $10,000 from IMCA Land of Ten Thousand Lakes 10K at North Central

BRAINERD, Minn. (June 26) – IMCA drivers with a history of coming up big at big events made some history again Saturday night.  Ethan Dotson led all 30 laps of the IMCA Modified feature that brought out the final checkers of the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes 10K show at North Central Speedway while Benji LaCrosse outran home state foe Luke Lemmens in an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car barnburner that ended green, white, checkers.  Modified and Stock Car features paid $10,000 to win, while Jake Sachau earned $5,000 for his Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod victory. Night three of the richest week of IMCA racing in Minnesota brought 224 cars, from 17 states, to Brainerd. Already a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier multiple times over, Dotson started outside Jordan Grabouski on the front row and ran away from everybody, catching up with the back of the Modified field just after midway.
