Current, Roth among winners at Maquoketa Speedway

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 18, 2022) – Saturday, June 18th provided perfect weather for the racing action at Maquoketa Speedway.

The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds 20-lap feature win went to fourth row outside starter Tim Current. Current wheeled his #12T to the front quickly taking the lead from Steve Johnson on lap number four. Current’s teammate Ryan Duhme ran second on Saturday night ahead of Travis Denning. 

A strong field of Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods ran a caution-free 15 lap main event on Saturday night. Jason Roth took first place honors by racing to the win ahead of Matt Mayo from Bakersfield, California. Front row starter Dakota Cole crossed under the checkers in third. 

The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars provided a very entertaining feature. Joe Zrostlik led the feature until a late race caution set up a two lap dash to the finish. Jacob Ellithorpe took advantage of the restart and passed Zrostlik to score his fourth win of the season at Maquoketa. Zrostlik ran second ahead of Jerry Miles. 

In the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks it was the “Buffalo Bandit” Randy LaMar adding another Maquoketa Speedway win to his resume. LaMar drove his #4R to the win ahead of Lukas Short and Jordan Milles. 

Cyle Hawkins also joined the repeat winners list as he scored the win in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact class. Hawkins fought off the constant challenges of Nick Proehl in taking the win.

First scoring job leads Feller to Maquoketa promoter’s post

MAQUOKETA, Iowa – Score a career highlight this season for Kevin Feller. Feller returns to his hometown Maquoketa Speedway to promote Saturday night racing, with four IMCA divisions on regular weekly programs and high hopes of introducing a legion of young fans to the sport.  “I haven’t been this fired up about the new race season in a long time. If it wasn’t for this little track, I wouldn’t be where I am,” said Feller, who scored his first race at Maquoketa in 1975 and has since kept track of laps and lineups at another 52 tracks nationwide. “This is a very, very spe­cial place for me.” “I am very driven on getting a young crowd to the track. Maquoketa Speedway hosts season high 135 race teams 

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 12, 2023) – Saturday night, the Maquoketa Speedway hosted 135 race teams on Kinion Auto Sales Season Championships for the IMCA Sunoco Late Models. The Late Models took the green with 20 drivers in attendance on the quick ¼-mile oval. The battle was on at the dropping of the green between the two high point drivers, Andy Nezworski and Dalton Simonsen.  Nezworski was recorded as the leader on lap one before Simonsen took over the top spot. Simonsen has been a top five car all year but was yet to record a win. Saturday night saw the Fairfax driver’s fortune change as he battled Nezworski the entire race and went on to record a very impressive win. A late-race caution set up a dash to the finish and Bryce Garnhart was able to nip Nezworski at the finish line for second. IMCA drivers join Darkside for spring specials at Maquoketa, Cedar County

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (March 13, 2024) – IMCA drivers will race for big checks and All-Star Invitational eligibility at a pair of Darkside Promotions events this spring. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds are on the card both nights of the March 29 and 30 Nippy 50 Super Late Model show at Maquoketa Speedway, running for $1,500 to win on Friday and $2,500 to win on Saturday. Racing starts at 6 p.m. Friday when entry fee is $30, pit passes are $40 and grandstand admission is $25. And on Saturday, entry fee is $50, pit passes are $45 and spectator admission is $35.
