Maquoketa Speedway hosts All Star Classic Weekend

Daniel Wauters outran the hot weather and the competition to make it four straight checkered flags in the IMCA Hobby Sunoco Stocks Saturday evening during the Donna Heister Memorial. “What a night at Maquoketa Speedway,” Wauters said on Facebook. “Kids got plenty of ice cream from the Little Racers Car Club, got to ride around in the Batmobile, then we got our fourth straight feature win there. By Rob Hinckley MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 3) – As the yellow flag waved the car may have slowed down, but Tyler Soppe’s mind kicked into high gear.  “I really didn’t want to see those cautions, but that’s part of it,” Soppe said.  He reformed strategy and still raced to the 30-lap B&D Pit Stop IMCA Northern SportMod topless special win Saturday evening at Maquoketa Speedway. “Obviously the place to be was on the bottom (groove),” Soppe added in Hoker Trucking / C&W Trucking / Kam Koncepts Victory Circle. “We used where we needed to get to the front. The yellows hurt as the car was bogging down at the end. I knew guys like the 12D and 21 were close and we were able to pull away some.” Soppe won his heat from the front row and redrew No. 8 for the feature. By Jerry Mackey  MAQUOKETA, Iowa (July 22, 2023) – Following a week of no racing as the Jackson County Fairgrounds hosted a large dog competition show the racing action returned on Saturday night with 121 teams putting on an exciting show as the races were hurried along to beat the approaching rain storm. It is always special to see a driver win his first-ever main event and on Saturday night that was the case in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Jordan Miles, one of the many racing Miles brothers and one of three Miles’ that were racing Saturday night scored his first of what will be many feature wins. Miles held off the one of the best in Hobby Stock racing, Randy LaMar in scoring the win. The 25-lap IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature saw veteran driver Andy Nezworski drive his no. 7 very patiently to the front from his eighth position start and overtake Jaden Fryer late in the main to go on and score the win.
