Chadwick, Fraser, Robles come back for seconds at Antioch

By Don Martin II ANTIOCH, Calif. (May 7, 2022) – Kellen Chadwick won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Antioch Speedway. This was the second win of the season for Chadwick.  Sean Wilson led the opening lap ahead of Bobby Motts Jr. before the yellow flag waved. On the restart, Terry DeCarlo Jr. made an impressive maneuver on the outside to gain the lead with brother Nick DeCarlo following him into second. DeCarlo Jr. led his younger brother on a lap three restart with Chadwick settling into third. Following the next yellow, DeCarlo Jr continued to lead with Chadwick moving into second on the lap six restart.  Chadwick ultimately made an inside move on the backstretch on lap 17 to take over. Motts started pressuring DeCarlo a little bit for the second position as Chadwick pulled away. A yellow flag on lap 19 bunched the field and set up a late shootout but Chadwick prevailed ahead of DeCarlo Jr. and Motts.  Tommy Fraser won his second straight Friesen Performance IMCA Northern [Read More]

Racing season gets the green flag at Maquoketa Speedway

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 7, 2022) – The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season at Maquoketa Speedway got underway on Saturday night following three consecutive postponements due to the wet weather in Eastern Iowa. Drivers and fans alike responded in a big way by attending the opening night races that saw the final checkered flag of the night wave at 9:40 p.m.  The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 20-lap feature was the headliner of the night and action was hotly contested on the very racy track. Travis Denning shot into the lead and was not to be denied the opening night victory as he led flag to flag. The feature saw one yellow flag wave early on lap two and then went the final 18 laps non-stop. Tim Current advanced from his fourth row start and closed on the race leader several times before settling for second. Veteran Maquoketa driver Ray Cox Jr. ran a very strong race in taking third.   A 23-car field of Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods took the green flag [Read More]

Murty, Thornton, Olson race to opening night wins at The Bullring

VINTON, Iowa (May 8, 2022) – After Mother Nature twice delayed season opening action, weekly points racing made a successful return Sunday night to Benton County Speedway. Also making a successful return was a familiar face in victory lane following the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Dallon Murty won an entertaining battle with his father, Damon, to score the win. The father and son drew front row starting spots and proceeded to put on a show for the duration of the 15-lapper. Never separated by more than a car-length, the Murtys battled for the lead from the onset. Dallon, who spent much of the event chasing Damon, snuck ahead with a last-lap pass to secure the victory. Kaden Reynolds and Jason Doyle completed the top four. Late-race excitement was also in store for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by KISS Country 96.5. Joel Rust secured the early lead from his pole position start and quickly built a sizable lead while Dylan Thornton began his pursuit from the fifth row. Rust’s lead was just over [Read More]

Early leads are formula for success at Off Road Speedway

By Randy Pospishil sports@norfolkdailynews  NORFOLK, Neb. (May 7, 2022) – Drivers capitalized on starting positions at or near the front of the field Saturday night at Off Road Speedway. Winners in three of the four regular classes started on the outside of the front row with the outlier, Cory Dumpert, occupying the outside position in the second row, although each had to hold off challengers during caution restarts, especially late in the race.  Dumpert, who finished second in the previous IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature after starting in the fifth row, took over the lead from Zach Zentner following a caution that brought Zentner back to the pack.  Dumpert passed Zentner on the outside with 20 laps remaining and held off Zentner’s bids to retake the lead for several laps before Tad Pospisil took over second place and the chase continued.  Three cautions, the last creating a green, white, checkered finish, gave Pospisil and Zentner opportunities on the restarts but the three-time defending national champion held off any attempts to pass and sped to IMCA [Read More]

TULARE, Calif. (May 5) – Troy Foulger delivered an impressive Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win on night four of the Central California Clash Thursday at Thunderbowl Raceway. The Oakley speedster led all 25 laps to earn the $1,000 checkers along with Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. The race stayed green following a lap three caution as Foulger did his best to host Jake Pike at Bay. “I had only made a few starts before at Tulare,” said Foulger, fifth in Wednesday’s Clash main event at Thunderbowl, “so we made driving style changes and not didn’t a lot of setup changes. The bottom line was real good. I tried to keep the car straight and not get too anxious so no one could take the line away from me.” Pike started fifth and owned the runner-up spot from lap two to the checkers. Tuesday and Wednesday winner Cody Laney was third, with Troy Morris III and Robby Sawyer scored next. The win was the fourth of the season for Foulger, his second in a Modified [Read More]
