Racing starts this weekend in IMCA’s North Central Region

DONNELLSON, Iowa – The 2014 IMCA race season gets underway on both sides of the Mississippi River this weekend. Five sanctioned divisions are in action Friday, April 4 at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson for the first weekly event in the Belleville Motor Sports North Central Region. Sprint Invaders are also on the card, along with IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. The Modifieds race for $500 to win, Stock Cars and SportMods both for $300, Hobbies for $200 and Sport Compacts for $100. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Algona Raceway rolls out the red carpet on Saturday, April 5 for North Iowa Frostbuster drivers. Casey’s helps fuel IMCA Super Nationals, Deery Series

ANKENY, Iowa (March 31) – The official convenience store of IMCA returns to two of the highest profile awards programs in all of dirt track racing. Second-year marketing partner Casey’s General Store will be presenting sponsor for the Sept. 1-6 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals, and title sponsor for the redraw at all Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models main events. Sobbing, Murray capture IMCA Modified checkers at RPM Sunflower Classic

(March 28-29) – More than 160 race teams from eight states made the trip to RPM Speedway for the season-opening Sunflower Classic and Jesse Sobbing and David Murray Jr. drove home with the biggest checks. Each earned $1,000 for their IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature wins at Hays. Both were already qualified for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. In Friday’s opener, Jeremy Frenier started outside pole and stayed in front to lap 16, when Sobbing got underneath coming out of turn four to take a lead he would not relinquish. Lapped traffic came into play but Sobbing held off Murray, who finished inches ahead of Cody Gearhart for second. Frenier and Jeff Hunter rounded out the top five. Chevrolet Performance boosts IMCA crate bonuses

GRAND BLANC, Mich. (March 27) – Drivers in two more IMCA divisions winning track championships while competing exclusively with crate engines will receive post-season cash bonuses from Chevrolet Performance. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks join Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods as part of a three-year pact. IMCA Northern SportMods find Saturday home at Southern Oregon

WHITE CITY, Ore. (March 27) – The Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods have found yet another new home in another state. Southern Oregon Speedway at White City has added the division to Saturday programs beginning with opening night on April 26. “Drivers in our ‘B’ modified class wanted us to sanction. They like the IMCA rules because they can also race in California and Nevada, and at events like the Duel In The Desert,” explained Operations Manager Chuck Prather Jr. “Our drivers like the engine option. IMCA Modifieds expected to have another smashing year at Willamette

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. – Although Willamette Speedway has only hosted weekly IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified action for less than 10 years, they have no doubt provided some of the best action on the entire Pacific Coast. Deery Series destined for Denison in 2014 opener

DENISON, Iowa (March 26) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series ends an absence of nearly 20 years when the 2014 tour opens on Saturday, April 5 at Crawford County Speedway. The IMCA Late Model series made its one and only appearance at Denison back on July 28 of 1994. Late Models will be paired with IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars for their much-anticipated return engagement. The main event pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start.
