IMCA Modified South Central Region enjoys Razor sponsorship again in 2017

PLATTE CENTER, Neb. – Building on another stellar season, Razor Chassis continues its title sponsorship of IMCA’s South Central Region for Modifieds for a fourth consecutive year in 2017. The Platte Center, Neb., chassis builder again provides a portion of the $6,000 point fund to be paid to top 10 drivers in the region, which includes tracks in Texas and southern New Mexico. Razor drivers Chris Abelson and Cory Sample both won regional crowns last season, while Ricky Stephan was the only driver in the division to earn four track championships. National runner-up in IMCA’s 2016 Manufacturers’ Cup contest, Razor has also won or shared top North Central Region cup honors each of the last four years. The Razor Chassis South Central Region champion earns $2,500. The runner-up gets $1,250 with $625 for third, $325 for fourth, $300 for fifth and $200 for sixth through 10th. JE Pistons continues popular built engine IMCA awards program

IRVINE, Calif. – Top five finishers in point standings for four IMCA divisions pay off again in 2017, courtesy of JE Pistons. The Irvine, Calif., manufacturer and seven-year IMCA sponsor has renewed a popular awards program for drivers competing with a built engine, giving nine sets of pistons and more than $9,000 in product certificates. Marriott takes Arizona IMCA Modified Tour finale, crown at Canyon Speedway Park

(Feb. 17) – Hunter Marriott claimed the inaugural Arizona IMCA Modified Tour championship in style Friday night as he topped a 29-car field to win the 25-lap series finale. Marriott drove his way from the fourth starting position to capture his first $1,250 feature win of the tour. He was already on the ballot for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “I really liked the car. We had some good runs and we’ve been trying hard all week. (Feb. 16) – The outstanding parity of the inaugural Arizona IMCA Modified Tour continued Thursday at Canyon Speedway Park as Spencer Wilson became the fifth different winner in as many nights. Seventy-one IMCA Modifieds were checked in for the first of two nights at the Peoria, Ariz. one-third mile dirt oval. Wilson netted $1,250 for the victory along with spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. After getting by Ryan Roath on lap two, Wilson took command of the race lead and set sail. At the midpoint of the race, Wilson had amassed a three second advantage over second-running Jimmy Gustin and looked to have the race in hand. However, Wilson encountered heavy traffic in the latter stages of the race, which allowed Gustin to erase Wilson’s huge lead in a matter of a few laps. Schott sails to IMCA Modified tour win at Arizona Speedway

(Feb. 14) – Lucas Schott found victory lane Tuesday at Arizona Speedway to become the fourth different Modified winner in as many nights of the inaugural Arizona IMCA Modified Tour. Front row starter Troy Gemmill shot out to a comfortable advantage and looked as though he had the car to beat early on. The first caution fell on lap seven and Schott put pressure on Gemmill as the pack charged into turn one on the restart. On the following circuit, Schott completed a big slide job on Gemmill in turn two to momentarily take the lead, but Gemmill countered with a crossover move to regain the point. Lap nine proved to be disastrous for Gemmill as his no. 721 machine slowed to a stop. As a result, Schott inherited the lead for the ensuing restart. IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour has Memorial Day opener, new title sponsor in Arnold Motor Supply

VINTON, Iowa (Feb. 8) – IMCA’s Hawkeye Dirt Tour will have a new title sponsor when the series opens on Memorial Day at Benton County Speedway. Arnold Motor Supply has signed on as sponsor of the eighth annual Modified tour and will provide a portion of $5,650 point funds to be paid each of the next three seasons. MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Sprint Series and the Beer Hill Gang are happy to announce the Beer Hill Cup Summer Series. The series will be six races featuring IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car teams, at Williams Grove Speedway April 28, May 26 and Aug. 18; at Port Royal Speedway on Aug. 5; at Susquehanna Speedway June 8; and at Path Valley Speedway on July 15. Points will be accumulated using the IMCA 40-point system and an overall champion will be determined on Aug. 18 at Williams Grove.
