Maynard doing double duty as IMCA regional director, new Modified series promoter

WYALUSING, Pa. – Jake Maynard adds a couple new titles to his resume with IMCA this season. The Modified driver from Wyalusing, Pa., becomes both the director of IMCA’s Dirt Works Eastern Region and promoter of the new NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series. In the former post he’ll help IMCA develop new and strengthen existing track sanctions, in the latter he’ll oversee events in the inaugural New York and Pennsylvania-based series. “I want to help IMCA be successful in this region and keep the interest of drivers, promoters and fans up,” Maynard said. “I kind of feel like the new kid at a new school right now. It was exciting to see and talk to people at the drivers’ meeting we held to gauge interest in the IMCA Modified division and the series. IMCA Modified special events drivers chase Brinn Transmission awards for 19th season

BAY CITY, Mich. – IMCA Modified special events competitors chase awards from Brinn Transmission for a 19th season. Top five finishers at 30 designated IMCA Modified specials receive $50 product certificates. All 150 of those drivers will be entered in a random drawing, with the winner receiving a new transmission from the Bay City, Mich., manufacturer. Brinn begins the second year of a three-year pact that continues through a second decade of sponsorship and includes IMCA’s biggest event. The pole starter at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s Saturday night Modified main also receives a new transmission. The 33 qualifiers for that feature, as well as the 12 Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions starters receive $50 product certificates. Two repeat at IMCA.TV Winter Nationals, Osantowski, Olson get first Cocopah wins

SOMERTON, Ariz. (Jan. 9) – Tanner Black and Kyle Heckman were repeat winners while Brian Osantowski and Matt Olson both made first visits to victory lane Saturday, on night four of the IMCA.TV Winter Nationals at Cocopah Speedway. Black led every lap of the IMCA Modified feature but had to hold off the hard-charging Ethan Dotson for the $1,000 checkers. Heckman made his way to the front following a lap six restart, then outran Blake Adams and Michael Sheen as the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature stayed green the last 19 circuits. Osantowski checked out on the rest of the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod field before encountering lapped traffic and three late cautions, finally running away from Miles Morris and Austen Becerra in a one-lap dash to the finish. SOMERTON, Ariz. (Jan. 8) – Casey Arneson led every lap of the IMCA Modified feature while Eric Knutson led just enough of the race to capture a third straight IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock victory Friday at Cocopah Speedway’s IMCA.TV Winter Nationals. Arneson, from North Dakota, topped a $1,000 to win, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying headliner that ended with 24 consecutive green flag laps. Ricky Alvarado moved into second on the fifth circuit but was not able to mount a serious threat to the leader. SOMERTON, Ariz. (Jan. 7) – Once he got to the front, there was no catching Ethan Dotson on another record night at Cocopah Speedway’s IMCA.TV Winter Nationals. Dotson started 12th in the Thursday night IMCA Modified feature at Somerton, then took the lead on the 15th circuit following a restart that had seen frontrunner Alex Stanford exit with mechanical issues. The California hotshoe then outran opening night winner Tanner Black for the $1,000 victory and accompanying Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth. SOMERTON, Ariz. (Jan. 6) – Patience put $1,000 in Tanner Black’s pocket. With a record 161 entries in the pits for opening night of the IMCA.TV Winter Nationals, Black returned to his home state to win Wednesday’s feature for IMCA Modifieds at Cocopah Speedway. He reeled in Russell Allen on the 16th circuit in a fast-paced main event that ran 25 caution-free laps. “I decided I needed to roll around the bottom and be patient,” said Black, who’d run second the first 15 times around the track. “Maybe he’d make a mistake and I could get around him.” Allen ended in second while defending track and Shaw Race Cars Western Region champion Chaz Baca was third. Madrid gets first IMCA Stock Car win in New Year’s special

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (Jan. 1) – The 10th annual New Year’s Day special at Arizona Speedway ranked a solid 10 with Zachary Madrid. Madrid earned $1,000 for his career-first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory in the 2021 opener. The Friday win was also his 40-lap first in any division. “The car is wicked fast and I couldn’t have asked for a better setup,” said Madrid, who had debuted the Mike Shea-owned 2020 IROC ride last November at the Duel In The Desert. “We’ll take a $1,000 win any time we can get it.” The 2019 IMCA Modified track champion at San Tan Valley, Madrid on the front row and inside father Anthony. Pettit aces IMCA Modified feature in Antioch opener

ANTIOCH, Calif. (Jan. 2) – Jim Pettit II came up big in the first IMCA Modified feature of the season Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Pettit started on the pole and led all 30 laps for the win, holding off a series of challengers for the $1,000, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying victory on a perfectly prepared fast, multi-groove oval. Up to the task following each of three restarts, Pettit led the 17th starting Nick DeCarlo, Troy Foulger, Kellen Chadwick and Bobby Hogge IV to the checkers. Todd Gomez and Cody Johnson also raced their way to Antioch’s victory lane on Saturday, in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main events, respectively.
