Pettitt guesses right for Stock Car win at Off Road

By Randy Pospishil NORFOLK, Neb. (June 6) – Setting up a car to race on a dirt track is “a guessing game” according to Ron Pettitt, who won the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Off Road Speedway Saturday night. Pettitt took advantage of his front row starting position and basically sped away from the field to lead each and every lap for his first win at the new track, leaving the other drivers, primarily Kyle Prauner, Zach Zietner and Jason Wilkinson, to fight it out for second place. “We had an awesome night. We had a good car. The track played into our favor because it was a fast track,” Pettitt said. “We just had the right setup. It’s a guessing game, and we picked it perfectly. It was heavy, so when it’s heavy you can usually drive into the corner harder than you would a dry, slick track.” Ultimately, Zietner was able to hold on to second place, while Prauner was able to pass Wilkinson in turn three of the final lap to [Read More]

Fox Shocks builds market with new IMCA Modified, Stock, Northern SportMod awards

EL CAJON, Calif. – A company that got its start in the two-wheeled market looks to build its four-wheeled niche through a new partnership with IMCA. Fox Shocks gives contingency awards beginning this season to drivers in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod divisions. The El Cajon, Calif., manufacturer began building shocks for motocross competitors in 1974. Product lines for vehicles ranging from ATVs to snowmobiles were added before Fox put its first prototype shock designed for a race car on the track, just five weeks after expanding into the dirt market in 2013. “We hit the ground running,” acknowledged Track Program Manager Pat Macaulay, a 20-year veteran of the industry hired to direct growth into another new market. “We are a recognized brand and want to align ourselves with the right sanctioning bodies and the right drivers.” “I knew the value of what IMCA brought to the table. That was a draw for us,” he explained. “With all the different sanctioning bodies out there, we [Read More]

Woods returns to Abilene for Sprint Series of Texas feature win

ABILENE, Texas (May 2) – Dustin Woods earned his Sprint Series of Texas career first feature at Abilene Speedway last May. He earned his second when the tour for IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars returned Saturday night. Benefitting from changing track conditions and Reagan Reed’s ailing motor late in the contest, Woods finally gained the lead on the last of 20 laps. He’d fallen back a couple spots after starting ninth, then steadily advanced into contention. Two restarts during the last five laps preceded his move to the outside around Reed. “I was able to work the bottom of the track to my favor,” said Woods. “I was looking forward to racing with Reagan for the win but she had motor problems.” Kenny Elwood, Danny Merrell and Rodney Henderson were second through fourth, respectively. Reed, who became the first female driver to win an SST feature last August at 281 Speedway, completed the top five. Woods’ teammate Jason Howell won the previous series event at Boyd on April 3 but had to work and [Read More]
