20th annual Garst Memorial is Saturday at Thunder Hill

MAYETTA, Kan. – Thunder Hill Speedway is preparing for Saturday night, May 24, when the 20th annual Don Garst Memorial Race is held at the Clash on the Hill. The Garst Memorial is Thunder Hill’s longest running special event, held in memory of the track’s first-ever flagman. The memorial race is one of the ways Don is remembered by the Garst family, and helps keep Don’s memory alive as one of the best short-track flagmen in the Midwest. In previous years, the Garst family has given Modified drivers a chance at a much larger win. This year, the family has taken the event to a whole new level giving everyone a chance at prize monies and contingencies. They have added money to the purses in four of the five divisions being raced. Two features for IMCA Modifieds this weekend at Arizona Speedway special

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. – Two feature events for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds are on the card this holiday weekend during Arizona Speedway’s second annual John Morris Classic. The Saturday, May 24 feature at Apache Junction pays $750 to win while first place on Sunday, May 25 is good for $1,000 and a spot on the ballot for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Minimum start money is $75. Pill draw is $10 each night. Free camping will be available and T-shirt giveaways are in the works both nights. Pure Stocks, X-Mods, Robert Horne Ford Bombers and Lady Stocks are also on the weekend programs. All visiting Modified and X-Mod drivers are asked to make sure their car has the approved 78 series Schoenfeld muffler for this event. This is the only muffler that can be used. Stand Packer Night at Salina Speedway set for May 23

By Dusty Wiegert SALINA, Kan. — A huge capacity crowd is guaranteed for Friday, on Salina Speedway’s Stand Packer Night. All fans have the opportunity to get in free courtesy of their favorite drivers. Each ticket is accepted until the grandstands hit their capacity at just over 3,000. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and carpool if possible. Each driver in attendance last weekend received their package of tickets to hand out to whoever wants them. The driver who hands out the most tickets that come back through the gate on race night will receive a special customized fire suit as an award courtesy of BSB Manufacturing and Salina Speedway. Drivers finishing in second through fifth place will receive a paid entry into the Mid-America Clash II year-end special, and sixth through 10th will receive one free pit pass to use during the season. Thunderhill boosts Stock Car, Modified winner shares for Bouche Memorial

By Edward Anschutz STURGEON BAY, Wis. – In memory of Nathan Bouche, Thunderhill Raceway and its proud sponsors have pulled out all the stops raising the feature winner’s share of the purse for the Olson Fabrication IMCA Stock Cars to a hefty $1,500 this Saturday, May 24. The Kelsey Racing IMCA Modifieds also received a pay boost with the feature winner taking home $1,000 for their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event. There are no added pit fees for the added purse. Members pay $20 a pit pass while non-members pay $25. The final number on the 2014 banquet contingency has reached $30,000. Free Military Night Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park

Saturday showcase for IMCA Stock Cars at Independence Motor Speedway

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The first of four Saturday Showcase events of the season is scheduled for this Saturday, May 24 at Independence Motor Speedway. The program, which will feature increased prize money for a select division one week every month, puts the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars in the spotlight this Saturday night. Drivers in that division will compete for a $500 winner’s share. The Stock Cars, along with the four other weekly divisions – IMCA Late Models, Performance Bodies IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks – are scheduled to compete for the fifth night of weekly racing this season. Trailer Race of Destruction, IMCA Stock Cars $750 to win Friday at Luxemburg
