Seymour becomes site of 1st, 200th wins for Snellenberger

PULASKI, Wis. (April 11) – That big sigh of relief you heard from victory lane at Seymour Speedway came from Rod Snellenberger. Snellenberger won for the 200th time in his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car career Saturday evening, holding off Brandon Czarapata by the narrowest of margins. “It was a relief to get it this early in the season. Everyone has been asking me how soon I thought I’d get the win,” the Pulaski driver said following his second start of 2015. “My mom and dad got back last week from spending the winter down south and were there to see me win, so that meant a lot to me.” Snellenberger counts the 2008 national championship, seven Allstar Performance State and 14 local track titles among his IMCA achievements. Murty collects opening night checkers at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (April 12) – As he had done eight times in 14 previous seasons, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car driver Damon Murty took home the checkers on opening night at Benton County Speedway. Murty started inside of row two and stole the lead from pole-sitter Scooter Dulin by the completion of the first lap to drive away to victory in Sunday’s 18-lapper. Norman Chesmore raced from the fifth row to finish second ahead of Scott Pippert. Murty ranks as the all-time leader in weekly racing wins in speedway history. He now owns 69 Stock Car wins in Vinton. Kyle Brown chased pole-sitter Joel Rust for the first dozen laps of the 20-lap IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main event. Brown furiously attempted to pass Rust on the low side of the quarter-mile before opting for a groove higher than Rust on the 13th circuit. Last-corner pass lifts Humphries to Virginia Sprint Series checkers

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (April 11) – Tom Humphries was the opening night winner Saturday, in the Virginia Sprint Series lidlifter at Shenandoah Speedway. The IMCA Eagle Motor Sports RaceSaver Sprint Car tour started off the way last year ended, with a last corner pass being made for the victory. Chris Ware and Charlie Ware paced the field to green with Chris out first and Anthony Linkenhoker right behind. Linkenhoker was smooth a lane up and on lap three made his way to the front, bringing Ryan Price along as Humphries with Jerald Harris rounded out the bunch Laps clicked off as Linkenhoker stayed out front and Price was trying everything to get by and Humphries pressured in third. Halfway flags were shown with Linkenhoker still leading but Price going even lower until he jammed an inside move and got the lead. Rogers holds on for RPM checkers

(April 11) – After four runner-up finishes already in 2015, Jason Rogers finally made it to victory lane in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division but had to hold off Chad Sterling to do it on opening night at RPM Speedway. Sterling led the opening lap before Rogers took the lead on lap two. Rogers was able to hold on to the front spot with Sterling trying high and low to make a pass. As the lead duo came out of turn four to the checkers, Sterling made a charge but came up half a car length short as Rogers held on. Shaylon Holloway finished third. More than 100 race teams were on hand for the Saturday show at Hays. Cody Gearhart led all 20 laps in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature and finished a straightaway ahead of Joe Cleveland. Davis takes Hobby Stock honors at DCRP

(April 11) – Cody Davis worked his way past early leader Zach McLemore on the ninth round then held off a late charge from Reagan Sellard to win the inaugural 12-lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature by half a car length Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park. While Sellard settled for second, Matt O’Hair filled out the podium in third. After catching a timely caution two laps into the IMCA SportMod main, Jeremy Sigler led the distance in the 20-lapper to capture his first career win in the division. Sigler outdueled Jason Lunow on the opening circuit to nab the early lead, only to have Lunow slip under on the third round for the lead. But after a caution that put Sigler back out front, there was no stopping his No. 21J as he raced virtually unchallenged to the checkered flag ahead of Lunow with 10th-starter Jared Baird third. Kay continues Deery streak at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (April 11) – Justin Kay got back in the groove Saturday at West Liberty Raceway. A week after exiting early with mechanical issues in the Deery Brothers Summer Series opener, the defending champion led the last 26 of 40 laps in winning the second installment of the 2015 IMCA Late Model tour. He’s now won three straight, and four of the last five Deery features held at West Liberty. Kay’s latest checkers, his career 10th, were good for $3,000. Scott Fitzpatrick, Brian Harris, Andy Nezworski and Andy Eckrich were next across the stripe. Harris had started 21st; Kevin Kile started 22nd and finished sixth. Ron Boyse took the green from outside row one and led the first lap; pole starter Nezworski let the next 13 times around the oval, before the only caution of the night came out. Foulger first in epic Antioch battle

ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 4) – Troy Foulger and Michael Paul Jr. waged a side-by-side battle that lasted half the feature in IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified racing Saturday at Antioch Speedway. “The track was perfect – with two grooves to make it a great race – I had so much fun,” Foulger said after having Paul, Jr. outside his passenger window lap after lap, with no chance to pass him. “I finally figured if I open up the straightaway, it would help me when I entered the corner.” Foulger, who started sixth, got by Paul and went on to the checkered flag. “It was a good race – but it would have been better if I won,” Paul laughed. “My car was loose (handling) and his was better. Ruter, Green both make it two straight with season opening checkers at I-35

By Greg Grabianowski MASON CITY, Iowa (April 5) – Ryan Ruter and Derek Green each won for the second time in less than 24 hours to highlight opening night action Sunday at I-35 Speedway. Both had won Saturday at Hancock County Speedway. Ruter repeated in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, earning $1,000, while Green notched another IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Frostbuster victory. Ruter again drew well, starting on the inside of the second row after drawing the pole at Britt. He held off a late charge by Rich Lewerke, who ended up in second. Josh Ruby, Kelly Shyrock and Alex Hanson completed the top five. Green passed leader Joe Willier in winning the Stock Car feature from the sixth starting spot. Williamson scores $1,100 win at Cottage Grove opener

(April 4) – Jesse Williamson was the $1,100 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature winner in front of a full house on opening night Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway. Hometown chauffeur Curtis Towns seized the lead after two cautions on the initial start. Towns set a wicked pace before he was overtaken on lap eight by Williamson. Williamson wasted no time extending his lead and had no trouble working his way through lapped traffic as well as the race progressed. He’d take the checkers in the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier ahead of Braedon Hand, Mark Wauge, Towns and Collen Winebarger. Jimmy Gustin dominates IMCA Modified main event at Boone Frostbuster special

By Jeremy Fox Boone, Iowa (April 4) – Jimmy Gustin raced to yet another high-profile win at Boone Speedway, on the final night of Frostbuster Week. Gustin topped the main event for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, earning $1,000 and a berth on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational for his Saturday night efforts. Eric Elliott and Josh Most drew front row starts but Gustin was quickly ahead of the field. He was checking out on everybody and catching the back of the pack when the caution waved on lap 10. He’d go on to lead the rest of the 25-lap contest and take the win ahead of Mike Van Genderen, Hunter Marriott, Ronn Lauritzen and Most.
