Antioch Modified checkers fly for Busby

ANTIOCH, Calif.  (May 2) – Scott Busby, one of the most winning drivers in California history, scored his second victory of the 2015 season in Saturday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main event at Antioch Speedway. Busby fought off challenges from Troy Foulger on the last two laps of the race. The feature saw Grand Theft Auto game developer Jeff Thomas driving his car like he stole it. Thomas jumped into a commanding lead early in the event, separating from the pack of cars. When second running Carl Berendsen spun with just four laps to go, the resulting restart put Busby and Alex Wilson behind Thomas. At the drop of the green, Thomas looked like he was going for the win but suddenly pulled off with engine problems. Busby and Wilson charged forward. Foulger quickly moved alongside Wilson, with cars racing three wide around the track. “Everybody was fast tonight,” Busby said from victory lane. “I just shot to the front. One of us had to get out there.” Foulger then chased Busby, as the cars in the [Read More]

Late restart opens door for Bouche

By Edward Anschutz STURGEON BAY, Wis. (May 2) – Defending track champ Dave Bouche used a late restart to steal Saturday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory away from Billy LeMieux by inches at Thunderhill Raceway. LeMieux leapt from his front row starting spot to the lead early in the Stock Car headliner. Evan Madden hustled to the runner-up spot and began to put heavy pressure on LeMieux. At the midway point Madden worked the low groove, pulling even with the leader. LeMieux was able to keep his momentum up just enough to hold off Madden each lap. Madden encountered trouble in turn two, clipping the infield tire and causing his car to come to a halt, bringing out the caution with four laps remaining. Bouche used this to his advantage as the green flag few, diving under LeMieux. The duo raced door-to-door coming to the checkers with Bouche nipping LeMieux at the line by narrowest of margins. Rod Snellenberger was third, Jamie Suchocki fourth and Tony Bouche completed the top five. Dave Bouche was awarded an [Read More]
