Holladay powers to West Liberty win 

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (June 25) –The iWireless IMCA Late Model 25-lapper capped off the night’s racing action Saturday at West Liberty Raceway and Chad Holladay scored his third win of the season on a very high-speed track. The high humidity made for a heavy, fast track and the Shepherd Engine-powered Late Model of Hol­laday found the conditions to his liking as he took command early from race leader Ron Boyse and went on to score an impressive win. Andy Eckrich made a late race run to finish se­cond ahead of Boyse. The Performance Concepts IMCA Modifieds continue to thrill the West Liberty Raceway fans with great racing and Saturday night’s main event was another nail biter. Jerry Luloff came away the winner breaking a two-year winless drought at West Liberty. The win was a very hard-fought one as Luloff had to fight off eventual second place finisher Chris Zogg and a fast closing Bruce Hanford at the finish line. Winebarger is fastest on Fast Friday 

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (June 24) – Collen Winebarger was fastest on the second Fast Friday of the season at Cottage Grove Speedway. Nearly 30 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds were checked in and Brian Thompson showed the way early. Thompson blazed the trail in the first handful of laps but was never able to get out to a large lead due to several cautions. Shortly after a sixth lap restart Thompson was overtaken by Winebarger, who maintained the top position for much of the race despite ensuing cautions. Winebarger was briefly out of the lead on lap 23 only for the yellow to come back out before the lap was complete. Winebarger stayed in front after the final restart and held on to win his second race at Cottage Grove in 2016. Mark Wauge was a close second, followed by Curtis Towns, Braedon Hand and Eric Ashley. Wauge set fast time for the night and also won the trophy dash.

Gustin scores career first, Smock win $1K at Independence

By Bucky Doren INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 25) – Jenae Gustin scored her first career IMCA Modified feature win Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway while Travis Smock netted a $1,000 IMCA Late Model payday on Peoples Company Night. Brandon Maitland moved into the lead on lap two of the Performance Bodies Modified “A” main. The young gun protected the bottom once he assumed the lead. The rookie Gustin worked her way into second completing lap number five. After running a handful of laps trying to find a way underneath Maitland, she moved to the high line. Gustin worked into the lead by the halfway point, and she was able to drive off to her first ever IMCA Modified win. Maitland settled for second. His brother Ryan finished third. Ronn Lau­ritzen came from 17th starting to fourth, followed by J.D. Murray captures IMCA Modified victory at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 24) – Jacob Murray captured his third win in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds while Donavon Smith picked up another victory in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Friday at Marshalltoewn Speedway. Joey Schaefer won for the first time in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division and Eric Stanton got back on track, winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Murray started ninth in the Modified feature. He put his no. 48J ride to the topside and reeled in the front running cars quickly.  When a yellow flew at lap four, Murray was already sitting in third place behind Jake Strayer and leader Jenae Gustin. Opheim tops thriller at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 23) – One thing is for sure when fans come to Kossuth County Speedway: They know the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will put on an entertaining show. Thursday night was no exception as Kevin Opheim and Derek Green went door-to-door and back-and-forth before Opheim edged out Green for his first local win of the season. Green captured hard charger honors while Calvin Lange, Shane Curry and Kellie Schmit com­pleted the top five. Josh Ruby was another first time winner in Algona, in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event, while Shane Swanson collected his first local Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod tro­phy of the season. Cody Nielsen has been dominant in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and captured his third fea­ture win of the summer at Kossuth County, coming from outside row four. Kaytee DeVries won the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature, earning her second feature victory of the sea­son at Algona.

Toland, Morris, Olson win Mid-Season championship features at Davenport 

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 24) – As Davenport Speedway readies for next week’s Iowa Governor’s Cup, there was still one more night of point racing action to get in the books. Friday was Mid-Season Night. Rob Toland stretched out his point lead in the Petersen Plumbing and Heating IMCA Late Model class. Toland started on the outside pole and led all 25 laps. Andy Nezworski came from ninth starting and used the low groove to finish second. Matt Ryan took third, finishing ahead of Kevin Kile and Chuck Hanna. Mitch Morris came from mid-pack to win the Eriksen’s IMCA Modified main. Ray Cox Jr. jumped out to the early lead and was able to hold the advantage for the first 14 laps. On lap 15, Morris forced his way under Cox to take the lead and his third point win of the season at Davenport. Cox held on to take second, with Doug Crampton third. Atchison checkers fly for Brown, Powell

By Rick Staley ATCHISON, Kan. (June 24) – Derrick Brown and Jim Powell Jr. were winners of IMCA features that ran green to checkered Friday at Atchison County Raceway. Brown picked up his second local feature win of the season, leading every lap of the Xtreme Mo­tor Sports IMCA Modified main. Steven Bowers Jr. raced through the pack to challenge Brown late, coming up with a close second place finish. Tony Layne, Jeremy Chambers and Nicholas Carpenter rounded out the top five. Greg Keuhn had the early lead until Jim Powell Jr. charged through the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field en route to his third Atchison County victory of 2016. Brad Whitney held off Gene Stigall for third and fifth place belonged to Josh Steele. IMCA Stock Cars were crowned “Best in Show” with the 10th finishing position being drawn and the added $100 cash awarded to Todd Wilson.

Murray races back to front, then to victory lane at Wild West Challenge

By Kelly Ninas NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (June 21) – After finding his way back to the front, David Murray Jr. found his way to victory lane Tuesday at Lincoln County Raceway. Murray topped the $1,500 to win main event for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds at the Colton and Connor Gentry Memorial Wild West Challenge. He’d led the first seven circuits before falling back to second for most of the race. After regaining the point from Eddie Belec on lap 21, Murray charged ahead to career win number 539. Already on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, he was chased to the checkers by Anthony Roth, Belec, Mike Densberger and Colton Osborn. Also punching tickets to the $1,000 winner’s circle were Jason Rogers in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Lance Borgman in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Brayton Carter wins Lowry Memorial at Osky

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (June 22) – Brayton Carter’s first KBOE Radio IMCA Northern SportMod win at Southern Iowa Speedway came during Wednesday’s Dave Lowry Memorial. Trent Brink led the first lap of the 16-lapper. Matthew Van Gelder took the top spot away following a lap two restart but that was short-lived as Carter grabbed the top spot on lap three. Carter cruised on to take the checkers ahead of Brett Lowry, Van Gelder, Curtis VanDerWal and Eric Flander. Cayden Carter won again in the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars. Zack Vander Beek topped the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds, Dustin Griffiths paced the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks and Cody Van Dusen ruled the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Stien sprints to Arlington checkers

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 18) – Michael Stien was the second and final leader in Saturday’s 95.7 the Rock IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature. Justin Allen was the early frontrunner until a yellow came out on lap five. On the restart, the sev­enth starting Stien got by for the lead. Allen stayed right on his tail throughout the race to take second and Jesse Cripe was third. A late caution gave Clint Hatlestad the chance he was waiting for as he passed Tyler Limoges on the last lap to win the MN 93 IMCA Modified main. Limoges was the runner-up while Tyler Mecl of Ari­zona took third from his 12th place start. Dan Mackenthun edged past Jeff McCollum on lap 11 to take the B & B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car lead with Ken Tietz alongside. In the end, Mackenthun won with Tietz taking second ahead of McCollum.
