Free grandstand admission Sunday at Dubuque Speedway

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa – This Sunday, June 11 has been declared Fan/Driver Appreciation Night at Dubuque Speedway. All fans will be admitted to the grandstands free. The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing program will get underway on the high banked 3/8-mile clay track with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m. The night’s action will include racing in four sanctioned divisions, the Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models, Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modifieds, GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMods and Bakey Seamless Gutters IMCA Stock Cars.

Traffic can’t slow Osborn at Lincoln County

(June 3) – Colton Osborn worked through traffic to grab the lead just past the halfway point, then led to the finish in winning the IMCA Modified feature Saturday at Lincoln County Raceway. Casey Werkmeister started outside row three and finished first in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Kyle Clough started deep in the field and ended in second. Jamey Kennicutt held off all challengers after getting the lead on the fourth lap of the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock winner Brady Weinman only led one lap but it was the lap that mattered most: He passed Robbie Kosmacek on the final circuit. Tom Baumgardner rode the cushion to the Mach-1 Sport Compact checkers.

Keller can’t be caught at Dacotah

MANDAN, N.D. (June 2) – Jeremy Keller couldn’t be caught in the Friday feature for IMCA Modifieds at Dacotah Speedway. Quentin Kinzley was the early leader, ahead of Shawn Strand and Jason Wolla. Wolla, who started eleventh, cracked into the top three by lap 10. Strand caught and passed Kinzley before a caution for debris from Wolla’s race car brought out a caution on lap 12. Wolla was sent to the tail end of the field and on the restart, Keller went low under Strand and took the lead. Keller pulled away from the field until another caution regrouped the field. He edged away on the restart as Strand and Marlyn Seidler battled for second. Seidler slipped by for second with eight laps to go, bringing Brad Hartigan with him. No one could catch Keller, however. Seidler finished second ahead of Hartigan. Ward sails to Crystal checkers

CRYSTAL, Mich. (June 3) – Three-time Lane Automotive IMCA Modified track champion A.J. Ward wasted no time moving from his ninth place starting position to take the lead and found clear sailing all the way to the checkered flag Saturday at Crystal Motor Speedway. Chad Wernette did his best to reel in Ward but had to settle for second, followed by Austin Wonch in third. June 10 at Crystal is the Lane Automotive-Optima Batteries IMCA Modified Challenge with a top prize of $1,052. The winner joins the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Tri-City victory for Vance

By Eric Young AUBURN, Mich. (June 2) – Craig Vance started 17th in the field of 21 Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modifieds and won Friday’s main event at Tri-City Motor Speedway. Chris Cohoon came home in second, Gavin Hunyady finished third, Kody Johnson finished fourth from a last-place starting position and Chaz Pray rounded out the top five in the Blood Drive Night main event.

Hurst sails to 2K win Sunday at Dubuque

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (June 4) – Racing Sunday at Dubuque Speedway on Sunday was highlighted by the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge, featuring a 40-lap feature for the Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models. When the green waved for an early restart it was Dubuque driver Jeremiah Hurst taking to the high line around the very smooth 3/8-mile clay track. Hurst went on to lead the flag-to-flag for the $2,000 win. Joel Callahan ran second ahead of Dan Shelliam on Sunday night. The Merfeld Automotive IMCA Modifieds provided the fans with spectacular racing on Sunday night with the winner in doubt right down to the checkered flag. Veteran Dubuque driver Jason Schueller took advantage of a late race restart to emerge from a pack of contenders to take the win by a slim margin over Jed Freiburger. Andy Eckrich takes $2,000 IMCA Late Model win at West Liberty

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (June 3) – Racing resumed at the West Liberty Raceway on Saturday night following a hiatus due to the recent wet weather. Saturday night’s racing included the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge plus an emotional night of racing for the Jennifer Brauns Massey Memorial. The 30 lap Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model feature saw Andy Eckrich establish himself in the early going as the man to beat. Andy was forced to fight off the constant challenges of his brother Denny before Chad Holladay joined in the battle for the lead. Andy Eckrich had the race in hand before lapped traffic came into play allowing Holladay and Denny Eckrich to close. Donor Network/Urbana 5 Night is Sunday at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa – Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for $1,500 to win and IMCA Modifieds for $1,000 to win at the Sunday, June 11 Iowa Donor Network and Urbana 5 Memorial Night at Benton County Speedway. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $500 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $400. IMCA Late Models complete the sanctioned portion of the program. All applicable points, including track, will be awarded in all divisions and the Modified feature is a qualifying event for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Davenport’s SportMod Challenge pays $2,000 to win

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods take over the spotlight in a $2,000 to win main event on Friday, June 9 at Davenport Speedway. The IMCA SportMod Challenge will use a draw/redraw format and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. with racing to follow. Kay scores big at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (June 2) – Friday night’s racing at Farley Speedway was highlighted by a 40-lap Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track feature for the Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models. When the checkered flag flew following the 16-minute main event, which ran caution-free, it was Justin Kay capturing the $2,000 payday. Kay led the 40 lapper flag-to-flag despite very heavy late race pressure by Andy Eckrich and Ryan Dolan. The frontrunners encountered lapped traffic as the race wound down and as the front three raced under the flagstand with three laps to go they were separated by less than a car length. Kay was able to clear lapped traffic and score the win over Eckrich and Dolan. Matt Gansen turned around some early season misfortunes and raced to the 20-lap feature win in the GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Modified feature. Gansen took the win over Jeff Aikey.
