Washington’s Skagit Speedway puts spotlight on IMCA Modifieds in 2022

ALGER, Wash. – IMCA Modifieds will take their turn in the spotlight at Skagit Speedway beginning in 2022.  The 3/10-mile oval at Alger, located halfway between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., off Interstate 5, becomes the second track in Washington State to sanction IMCA’s premier division. Eleven Saturday night shows leading up to the big $10,000 to win Survive The 55 special on the final weekend of the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season Sept. 23-24. “Sanctioning with IMCA seemed like a no-brainer. BRUSH, Colo. – Zachary Christopher Smith, age 35, passed away Dec. 12, 2021 in Brush, Colo. Zach was born on June 3, 1986 in Hoisington, Kan.  A pillar in his community, Zach was a 2004 graduate from Fort Morgan High School. He was a local small business owner, amazing husband, father, son, uncle and friend to anyone he met. A family man to his core, Zach was the favorite coach in town; coaching T-ball, baseball and soccer. If he wasn’t on a field, he could be found on the race track or out hunting and fishing with his boys.  Zach is survived by his wife, Cassandra Smith; their three sons, Hunter Smith, the IMCA national and Northern Region Hobby Stock rookie of the year this season, Houston Smith and Haxton Smith. Winebarger, Luinenburg, Barribo, Mallicoat win Harris Race Tech Chassis School drawing

AMES, Iowa – Bob Harris Enterprises made special event victories pay off for four IMCA drivers this season. Collen Winebarger, Justin Luinenburg, Tyler Barribo and Izac Mallicoat have received certificates to attend Race Tech Info Dirt Chassis School sessions. All were selected by random draw from among top five finishers at designated specials for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, respectively.  Winebarger was the Modified runner-up on night two of Cottage Grove Speedway’s Mark Howard Memorial Nationals while Luinenburg was the Stock Car winner at Park Jefferson Speedway’s Iron Cup. Hard charger Barribo took second in the Hobby Stock feature at RPM Speedway’s Fall Nationals and Mallicoat was second to the checkers in the Harris Clash main event for Northern SportMods.  A top five driver in each of those 70 specials received a certificate for two free shock rebuilds. The 2021 season was BHE’s ninth as an IMCA sponsor.

NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series ready to invade New Jersey

BRIDGEPORT, N.J. – You know what they say, there’s a first time for everything. In the spirit of that, the 2022 season will start at the Bridgeport Speedway with a first for the state of New Jersey. For the first time since the IMCA-sanctioned Modified division was created in 1979, the open-wheeled beasts will slide around a track in The Garden State.  After a successful 2021 season, NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series officials have come to an agreement with the Bridgeport Speedway to open their season at the famed New Jersey oval on March 26, 2022. GRT, B & B top IMCA Manufacturer’s Cup standings

VINTON, Iowa – GRT Race Cars defended its Modified title while B & B Racing Chassis won the first-ever IMCA Manufacturer’s Cup crown for Stock Cars in 2021. GRT led the 17 chassis builders entered in the 13th annual Modified contest with 47 points, awarded on the basis of the make of chassis driven by racers finishing in the top 10 in each of the five re­gions.  The Greenbrier, Ark., builder topped point standings in the Central Region for the fourth straight year and in the South Central, the region it will become title sponsor for beginning in 2022.  Seven drivers, among them Central Region champion Dylan Sillman,  figured in the GRT point total. “Winning the Manufacturer’s Cup is a great thing. Oliver sprints to rare two state championship feat

PENDERGRASS, Ga. – Some day, Jeff Oliver will look back at the 2021 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car season and have an even better appreciation for his accomplishments. But right now, he wishes the season wasn’t over and he was still racing. Along with the Carolina Sprint Tour crown, Oliver won KMJ Performance State championships in North Carolina and South Carolina. He’s just the fourth driver to win multiple IMCA state titles in the same division in the same season since the awards program was started in 2000.  “It’s very cool. Statistics are cool but they’re something you can get caught up in. They’re something I want to look back at some day,” the San Diego native and Pendergrass, Ga., transplant said. “We had a very good season and I wanted to keep pushing. Pirkle paces IMCA Modifieds at Showdown, feature win is sixth straight at Kennedale

KENNEDALE, Texas (Nov. 6) – Jacob Pirkle has to be sorry his season is over. Pirkle won his sixth straight IMCA Modified feature at Kennedale Speedway Park, topping the Saturday night Summit Racing Equipment Showdown main event. The checkers were good for $1,500.  “The car was just hooked up,” said Pirkle, who had started fourth and took over in front following a restart midway through the 25-lapper. “We had a lot of lapped traffic but navigated through those guys.” Track champion Glen Hibbard was runner-up and Razor Chassis South Central Region champion William Gould ran third. Early entry deadline nears for IMCA Duel In The Desert

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Drivers in four IMCA divisions have until 11:59 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) to pre-enter for the biggest event of the 2021 season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway hosts the 24th annual Duel In The Desert Nov. 8-13. IMCA Modifieds race for $10,000 to win their Saturday night main event on the half-mile oval while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods both run for $5,000 top checks. IMCA STARS Mod Lites make their Duel debut in a $1,500 to win main event. Sister Act: Marie, Kayla Curtis capture IMCA Nevada State crowns

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – Marie Curtis liked the handling and the power that came with an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car. Kayla Curtis liked the idea of getting on the track in a Mach-1 Sport Compact when she went to the races. When 2021 IMCA point standings became official, the Winnemucca, Nev., siblings made history as the first sisters to win KMJ Performance State championships.
