Eric Van Iten Memorial returns to The ‘Burg on July 17

(May 3, 2022) – The second annual Eric Van Iten Memorial Night is set for Sunday, July 17 at The ‘Burg Speedway in Luxemburg, Wis., and once again some big cash will be on the line for drivers in three IMCA divisions. A $5,000 top prize and an automatic B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational berth is already set for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars with Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds scrapping for a $2,500 top prize and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod winner takes home $500. The inaugural running of the Van Iten Memorial a year ago saw one of the largest crowds in the track’s history. A whopping $63,000 purse was split up amongst the 210 drivers who battled before a packed grandstand. Whitmire is Saturday winner at I-37

Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (April 30, 2022) – After a two week hiatus, it was time to fire up the engines on the ¼ mile semi-banked I-37 Speedway dirt oval Saturday and Tanner Whitmire was back in victory lane after a lengthy hiatus of his own. At the start of the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main it was Rick Green with the lead chased by Jared Maupin, Whitmire, Ryan Doyon and Chris Morris. Robert Liese spun to infield and collected Marlin Samford as he tried to pull back on track. On the restart, Maupin tried the high side on Green with Whitmire looking to go three-wide for the lead. Whitmire took second and began to look low on Green while Morris got by Maupin for third. Whitmire then tried the high side on Green and got a good run down the back stretch, taking the point on lap nine. ‘Bullet’ Bill Rice tops the Mountain

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (April 30, 2022) – Bill Rice held off a charging Caleb Harris for his first Virginia Sprint Series win of the year, where the mountain roars, Shenandoah Speedway. Jerald Harris won the trophy dash before it was off to the Saturday IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature. Rice and Harris paced to green with Rice out first but by lap two Bill Mullis got by for the lead. All was good up front until lap seven when Mullis ended his night against the turn three fence after contact. Rice took off again and held off a fast closing Caleb Harris at the line. At the strip it was Rice, Caleb Harris, and French Grimes. The Virginia Sprint Series will next head to Dixieland Speedway in Elizabeth City, N.C,. on Friday, May 13 for the first Fast Friday race of the year.

Ward dominant at Stuart’s Stevens Memorial

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (April 27, 2022) – One hundred and twenty-eight cars were in attendance for the regular season opener at Karl Chevrolet of Stuart International Speedway and racers from all around were on hand to honor Tim and Tammy Stevens, an unforgettable driver/race official duo who have both passed on in recent years. IMCA feature winners for the night were Tyler Fiebelkorn, Brayton Carter, Buck Schafroth, Brandon Cox and Tim Ward. Ward and Dennis Pittman led the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds out for the nightcap with Ward taking control early. A lap two caution was all that stood in Ward’s way as he checked out on the field to take the win. Drew Janssen finished second with Dallon Murty third. Rain, rain, stay away from PJ!

(April 28, 2022) – Despite a less than ideal weekend forecast, Park Jefferson International Speedway is still planning on forging ahead with the 2022 Iron Cup on South Dakota’s fastest quarter-mile dirt tracks from Thursday, April 28, through Saturday, April 30. The weekend schedule includes a practice night tonight (Thursday) with qualifying for the J&J Fitting Iron Cup in Friesen Performance IMCA Modified, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact divisions on Friday. The Iron Cup Championship Night in all divisions is Saturday. Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6 p.m. each evening. Postponement information if necessary will be released through local media and the PJIS website. Tickets for the 2022 Iron Cup event can be purchased through the Park Jefferson International Speedway website at parkjeff.com. Duggins a double winner at Desert Thunder

By Janelle Bates PRICE, Utah (April 23, 2022) – Jason Duggins was a double winner in a rare Saturday doubleheader at Desert Thunder Raceway. After rain forced postponement of Friday’s scheduled show, Duggins, from Farmington, N.M., took first place in both Saturday IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock features and won the grand prize of $1,000 sponsored by Piece Oil Company in Price. “Mother Nature made the race toug, and that wind was horrible on Friday. But I usually do well in doubleheader races,” said Duggins, the three-time and defending champion in the Big Daddy Race Cars Southern Region. “Everything else about the weekend was excellent. I had great competition and no mechanical issues and was able to win the big check.” Duggins was born into a family of racers and has been racing for a total of 10 years, and consecutively for six. “My dad was very proficient in his racing program. Fueled up again, Mosher wins first IMCA Stock Car feature since 2006

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (April 27, 2022) – Sid Mosher’s 16-year absence from victory lane ended on opening night at The New Raceway Park. Mosher battled Travis Barker early and then outdueled Jason Ward following a late restart to win the April 24 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. The checkers were his first since Mosher’s five-win campaign in 2006. “When I took a break after that, it was always with the idea I would get back into racing. I never lost the passion for it,” explained the Sioux City, Iowa, driver. “We were pretty strong back in the day and I wanted to see if I could still be competitive. Coups for Rea, Sanders at Cottage Grove

(April 23, 2022) – After a few weeks of inclement weather, Cottage Grove Speedway finally returned to racing on Saturday, with Paul Rea and Isaac Sanders earning IMCA laurels. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature started with Rea seizing the lead. He had to deal with four cautions which kept everyone else close. On the fourth and final restart on lap 18, Jake Mayden tried to seize the coveted P1 position. Mayden obtained the lead briefly but Rea counterattacked to reclaim the position and went on to win the race and earn his second victory in 2022. Saathoff scores opener at Eagle

(April 23, 2022) – After last week’s Icebreaker Challenge was canceled, this week’s Start Your Engines presented by A1 Iron and Empire Fence program at Eagle Raceway could have been branded the Windbreaker Challenge. The strong southerly winds didn’t seem to keep many fans from showing up, however. Those who came saw 180 cars filling the pits and providing some really great racing all night. Johnny Saathoff won his career 356th Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature after taking over the front spot on an early restart. “It turned out to be a pretty good night.
