20-year sponsor Bilstein renews awards in five IMCA divisions

POWAY, Calif. – Bilstein Shocks marks a second decade of IMCA sponsorship with awards for drivers in five divisions. Nearly $8,000 in product certificates will be awarded to IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod competitors at the conclusion of the Poway, Calif., manufacturer’s 20th season as a sponsor. Top eligible drivers in each of the five Modified regions receive $350 certificates while runners-up get $250 and third-place finishers $200. Certificates to the top three eligible drivers in the two Stock Car regions will be given in increments of $350, $250 and $150. The top drivers three in both Hobby Stock regions and in national Northern SportMod and Southern SportMod point standings receive product certificates valued at $300, $200 and $100, respectively. Bassett Racing Wheel awards renewed for IMCA Stock Cars, both SportMod divisions

BURLINGTON, Wis. – On the cusp of a quarter-century of support, Bassett Racing Wheel has renewed post-season awards for drivers in three IMCA divisions. The Burlington, Wis., manufacturer gives sets of four wheels to 2018 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod national champions. Track champions in the same divisions receive $60 product certificates, good toward the purchase of four wheels from the 24-year IMCA sponsor. Bassett also returns to national decal programs for Northern SportMods and Southern SportMods. FAIRMONT, Minn. – A company with a long list of IMCA customers has signed on to give awards to rookies of the year and state champions through the 2020 season. Checks get bigger for Cardinal’s Sheen Memorial Shootout

EUNICE, N.M. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars get top billing at Cardinal Speedway’s Kelly Sheen Memorial Shootout on Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27. Winner’s share of the purse for the ninth annual event has been increased to $3,000. Taking the green in the Stock Car feature pays a minimum of $200. Qualifying is Saturday with 25-lap features on the Sunday program. Bigger paydays have been announced for the other sanctioned divisions as well. Kennedale hosts opening night for IMCA Modified Red River Tour

KENNEDALE, Texas – The inaugural IMCA Red River Modified Tour takes drivers in three divisions to six tracks in Texas and Oklahoma. Pre-entries are in hand from nearly 130 drivers from nine states. IMCA Modified features May 26 at Kennedale Speedway Park, May 27 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway, May 28 at 281 Speedway, May 30 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway and May 31 at Grayson County Speedway all pay $1,000 to win. BSB Manufacturing marks 10th season of IMCA sponsorship

WELLINGTON, Kan. (May 23) – Ten-year sponsor BSB Manufacturing awards more than $10,000 in product certificates to IMCA drivers in six divisions and one special series this season. Product certificates redeemable in amounts of $300, $200 and $100 go to top three eligible drivers in each IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock region, and in national standings for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods. Hansen begins title defense with Outagamie checkers

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (May 20) – One hundred and twenty-nine cars checked in to do battle for the first point night of the season Sunday at Outagamie Speedway. Defending champion Travis Hansen dominated the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature, leading every lap en route to the victory. Lucas Lamberies was second and Robby Thiel placed third. Josh Long paced the IMCA Modified field until Mike Mullen took the top spot away on lap eight. Long’s hope to regain the lead went up in smoke as his car broke and coasted to the infield. Mullen pulled away, capturing the win with a clean sweep of the night. Benji LaCrosse had to settle for second while Brian Mullen was third. Eric Arneson led the caution-slowed IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature until Mike Coel slipped by down low on lap 10 to secure the top spot. No recertification needed following Belleville 305 event

BELLEVILLE, Kan. – The Belleville Highbanks 305 event Friday and Saturday, Aug. 3 and 4 will be a United Rebel Sprint Series race. Because the event does not meet RaceSaver IMCA purse guidelines, it will be non-sanctioned and no national or state points will be awarded. RaceSaver officials stated that due to extensive pre- and post-race tech at the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Nationals at Eagle Raceway in September, drivers competing that weekend at Belleville will not be required to recertify their engines.

LaCrosse leads the way at Luxemburg

By Edward Anschutz LUXEMBURG, Wis. (May 19) – A total of 111 cars packed the pit area for a rare Saturday night shootout at Luxemburg Speedway. Benji LaCrosse dominated the IMCA Modified main, leading all 20 laps from his front row starting spot en route to the $700 top prize. Brad Theys had a solid run to place second. Kyle Resch paced the opening circuits of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event until 2017 street stock champ Paul Diefenthaler raced by on lap five. Midway through the contest Luke Lemmens began work the low groove, closing in on the Diefenthaler. With two laps remaining Lemmens made his move, working past Diefenthaler for the top to secure a $500 payday. In Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod action it was Todd Wiese taking the lead from Vince Engebregtsen midway through the feature. Once out front, Wiese never looked back, scoring the win. Mike Meier was victorious in the Mach-1 Sport Compact main.
