IMCA set for record 2021 season

VINTON, Iowa – Wherever you call home or travel to this year, odds are good that there will be IMCA Racing close by. The 2021 season will be a record breaker for IMCA, with more than 600 sanctions in nine divisions, in 39 states coast to coast and border to border and in Canada. “It’s gratifying to see the support we get from tracks in adding new divisions to their current sanctions, and to be able to announce new sanctions at so many different tracks,” said IMCA President Brett Root. The Modified division, of course, will remain IMCA’s biggest both in terms of licensed drivers and sanctioned tracks. Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Late Model sanction numbers all increased in 2020 and Northern or Southern SportMods run at more than 100 tracks for a fifth consecutive season this year. Hyperco shifts to special events awards, adds STARS Mod Lites to IMCA program for 2021

PONTOTOC, Miss. – Hyperco takes a new awards approach in 2021, its 24th consecutive season as an IMCA sponsor. Boone County to remember Tanner Pelster at fair special

ALBION, Neb. – A life well lived that ended too soon will be celebrated at the biggest event in Boone County Raceway history. The annual fair race on July 11 doubles as the inaugural Tanner Pelster Memorial, and will remember a young man who always had a smile, a contagious laugh and countless friends. Just 24, the fourth generation driver from Albion died as a result of a work accident early last month. The son of Boone County promoter Delmer Pelster and wife Dee grew up with four older sisters and at a race track just a few blocks from home. “We were proud of Tanner. He was special, and a lot of people thought that way,” his father said. “He could make anybody smile. Tanner had friends all over the place.” This would have been Tanner’s ninth season in IMCA. Friday Oil Capital Racing Series show moved to Creek County Speedway

By John Rittenoure TULSA, Okla. – Due to over seven inches of rain at Caney Valley Speedway over the past weekend, the track will not be able to host the AmeriFlex /Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA RaceSaveer Sprint Cars on Friday. Creek County Speedway has stepped up and will run the series both Friday and Saturday this week. On Friday, gates open at 4 p.m., sign-in from 5:30-6:30 p.m., drivers’ meeting at 6:45 p.m., hot laps at 7:15 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m. And on Saturday, gates open at 3 p.m., Sign-in is from 3:30-4:30 p.m., drivers’ meeting at 4:45 p.m., hot laps at 5:15 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m. Mufflers are mandatory both nights. Both nights are standard $1,000 to win, $225 to start feature events.

IMCA Modified, Late Model, Sprint drivers are racing for Sweet Manufacturing awards

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The manufacturer of the Official Steering Box of IMCA rewards drivers in three divisions for again this season. Sweet Manufacturing gives steering boxes to the top three finishers in IMCA Modified national point standings along with $50 gift certificates to top five drivers in each Modified region. The Kalamazoo, Mich., company and 12-year IMCA sponsor is part of the national Modified decal program and drivers in that division must display two Sweet Manufacturing logos on their race car to be eligible for point fund shares. Sweet also gives a steering rack to the Late Model national champion and a steering box to the national IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car rookie of the year. IMCA Modifieds run for $2,500 to win, a minimum of $250 to start and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berths in their Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20 features. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods vie for $1,000 top checks each night while IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks duel in $500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts in $200 to win main events. California IMCA Speedweek expands to eight spring dates

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – West Coast fans who called for an encore after the inaugural California IMCA Speedweek can mark April 30-May 8 on their race calendar. The second annual tour, presented by Hoppes Motorsports, expands to feature eight dates at as many different tracks for IMCA Modifieds and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. Modified main events pay $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start and are qualifying races for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot; SportMod mains pay $750 to win and a minimum of $75 to take the green. Opening night is Friday, April 30 at Bakersfield Speedway. Ramey led all 30 laps of the Texas 305 RaceSaver Sprint Nationals main event, earning the $2,000 victory at home track Devil’s Bowl Speedway. “Being’s as this was the first one and on my home turf, this was pretty special. SONOMA, Calif. – A California company that’s “growing crazy fast” continues an awards program benefitting IMCA Modified and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods for a fourth season in 2021.
