Richards quick to find 2021 IMCA Stock Car success

By Greg Soukup LINCOLN, Neb. – Cade Richards, the 2019 IMCA national Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod rookie of the year, spent most of 2020 competing in his SportMod and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car. To say that he’s starting off the 2021 season well in the Stock Car would be an understatement. He kicked off the year with a pair of third-place finishes, then brought it home in the top spot twice. On Friday, April 23 Richards made the trip to Salina Speedway. Starting his heat from the inside of the third row, he took the checkers. Raucci victorious at Mohave Valley Raceway

By Stephanie Deatherage MOHAVE VALLEY, Ariz. (May 1) – After several weeks off, Mohave Valley Raceway roared back to life on Saturday and Vinny Raucci Jr. raced to the IMCA Modified feature win. Raucci wasted no time in getting out front on the initial start of the 25-lap main event. He had to deal with several restarts and some pressure from Frank Russell Jr. Raucci mastered what proved to be the final restart and went on to win his first race at Mohave Valley this year. He is the sixth different driver to win in seven races in the IMCA Modifieds in 2021 at MVR. Russell held onto second while Ryan Cotrell took third. Rick Durica and Ronnie Meyer Jr., completed the top five.

Madrid, Clower triumph at Arizona Speedway

By Stephanie Deatherage SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (May 1) – Arizona Speedway was back in action on Saturday, with Zachary Madrid and Andy Clower earning IMCA feature wins. Brody Center had the initial jump in the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event but before the completion of the first lap he would be overtaken by Madrid. Madrid took full control and checked out from the rest of the field. The only thing to slow down his dominance was three stoppages. Larry Brigner recovered from an early flat to end the night in second. Brody Center was third while Dennis Losing posted a fourth-place result. The top five was completed by Raymond Doyle. In Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod action, the 20-lap main event began with Robert Holmes setting the tone early. Holmes lost the coveted top place position on the second circuit to Clower. 2021 season has BSB Manufacturing seeing STARS Mod Lites in IMCA awards program

WELLINGTON, Kan. – BSB Manufacturing sees STARS Mod Lites in its latest awards program with IMCA. In its 13th season of sponsorship, the Wellington, Kan., high performance parts manufacturer will give more than $11,000 to drivers in seven divisions with awards based on special series results and national or regional point standings. Designated place finishers at 30 IMCA Modified, 10 IMCA Sunoco Late Model, 15 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, 15 Karl Kustoms Northern and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod, 10 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock and 10 IMCA STARS Mod Lite specials all receive $50 product certificates, to be mailed after race results are received at the IMCA home office. Ferrando does it again at Grays Harbor

By Stephanie Deatherage ELMA, Wash. (May 1) – Grey Ferrando collected his second feature win in as many 2021 starts at Grays Harbor Raceway, topping the 24-car field of IMCA Modifieds Saturday night. Tom Sweatman was the first car to lead the field at the start-finish line. Sweatman held onto the position until lap five when Brenton Schnitzer made the pass. Schnitzer set a rapid pace but had an unfortunate stroke of bad luck when he had a flat left front tire and came to a halt on lap nine. This gave the first place position back to Sweatman. Sweatman was challenged by Ferrando and Blair Shoemaker before slowing and then coming to a halt on lap 12. New leader Ferrando was not out of the woods yet as he had to deal with several restarts and cautions. Show-Me Showdown ends as career best payday for Crigler

WEST PLAINS, Mo. (May 1) – The longest race of Sawyer Crigler’s IMCA Modified career ended as his career-best payday. Crigler topped Saturday’s 40-lap Show-Me Showdown at Legit Speedway Park, earning $2,000 along with a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. “There’s a lot of history at this place,” said Crigler, owner of a paving business and already a two-time winner this season on the dirt at West Plains. “I know there were a lot of good cars here and it feels good to have been able to win this race.” Crigler had started fourth and passed Matt Barry for the lead on the seventh circuit. Park Jefferson hosts Ted Carlson Memorial this Saturday

JEFFERSON, S.D. – On Saturday, May 8, Park Jefferson International Speedway celebrates the life of Speedway founder Ted Carlson. Carlson was instrumental in turning Park Jefferson into an auto racing facility back in 1986 along with a team of others. Excitement, expectations high for season opener Friday at Wagner

WAGNER, S.D. – Following a successful car show and practice day this past Saturday, the 2021 racing season will officially get the green flag this Friday at Wagner Speedway. The Fort Randall Casino Weekly Racing Series will hit the track with six classes of cars to open the campaign. Thompson tops Springfield IMCA Modified main

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – James Thompson came out of a three-wide pack on lap eight and held on to record his second win out of four IMCA Modified features Saturday ight at The Quick Quarter of the Springfield Raceway. Thompson, the track champion, came from the eighth starting spot and made the smooth move on leader Jimmy Greenway and second place runner Bobby Pearish, then held back a late surge from Greenway. Action for the Bad Boy Mower IMCA Modifieds was very intense as Greenway was rolling strong on the top side while Pearish was looking for a chance to get around Greenway. Greenway, who has been away from circle track racing for several seasons, has been fighting the new car blues and was rolling strong in his Ballie Diesel Automotive number 28. So far this season it has been Thompson in his Hayden Machinery 11T and two-time winner Steven Bowers Jr. with two wins at Springfield. Grube prevails in PASS headliner at Port Royal

(May 1) – After an incredible three-car, 12-lap battle, Dave Grube II held on for the win Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway, taking the Pennsylvania Sprint Series 20-lap feature by a shade less than a second over Ken Duke Jr., with Kenny Heffner a career-best third and less than two tenth’s of a second behind Duke. Grube started on the pole and led the entire 20 laps, but never shed its multiple-IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car competition, which also included Kassidy Kreitz and Justin Mills early in the race. It was when Kreitz suddenly slowed and dropped out on lap eight that the stage was set for the lengthy final fight. On that restart, Heffner grabbed second from Duke, but six laps later the former national and PASS champion retook the spot.
