DeWitt proves that patience is key to win at Diamond Park

By Justin Newman MURFREESBORO, Ark. (May 28, 2022) – Current National IMCA STARS Mod Lite points leader Gary Dewitt proved just how important patience, consistency and some hard work pays off. He was able to keep himself in the front long enough to take the win on the first night of the inaugural Mod Lite Mayhem at Diamond Park Speedway.   The event, $3,000 to win and $300 to start the “A” main, continues Sunday with the 30-lap feature presented by Joker Chassis. Four heat races were used to take winners and the top 14 in passing points to the nightly qualifier on Saturday.   Barry Nolan found his way to victory in heat one with DeWitt in tow; DeWitt advanced five spots and this would be key later. The second heat race went to Chris Robinson, the third heat race was topped by Chad Kirkpatrick and in the fourth and final heat race, James ‘Big Daddy’ Rollins took the win.   This set the stage for the qualifier with the heat race winners on rows 1-2 and [Read More]

Defending All Star Shootout champion Pirkle prevails in Kennedale IMCA Modified feature

KENNEDALE, Texas (May 28, 2022) – His consistent finishes got Jacob Pirkle the 2021 All Star Shootout title. A convincing flag-to-flag run at the front of the field got him a $1,500 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature win in the 25-lap Shootout show Saturday night at Kennedale Speedway Park. “This is my home track, I started on the front row and I thought I had a lot to prove. Tonight was very good for us,” said Pirkle, who was running in heavy lapped traffic before halfway and was not challenged after the second of back-to-back restarts on lap 18. “I really wanted a win and tonight we got it. The track really played in my favor. I like a little cushion.” Chris Morris took the runner-up spot from Tanner Whitmire on lap 20 and finished just over a second behind Pirkle at the finish. Steven Whiteaker Jr., Whitmire and Larry Adams completed the top five.  Pirkle started racing a Southern SportMod at KSP; he’s in his third Modified season there now.  “I had no idea [Read More]

Benoit shines in star-studded field at Centerville

By Justin Newman CENTERVILLE, Ark. (May 27, 2022) – Cody Benoit continued his winning ways this time, not in Florida, but in Arkansas at the Centerville Super Speedway. Benoit picked up the cool $1,000 payday amongst racing four of the top 10 in national IMCA STARS Mod Lite point standings in the first annual Prelude to the Madness.  Benoit won his heat race but passing points had him starting on the outside of row two for the 20-lap main. Nashville, Ark.’s Jace Reid was on the pole and alongside him was the number 9 of Riley Clem from Bakersfield, Calif. Clem had to get a push start from the grid and would have started tailback but was never able to get it fired. That bumped up the outside row and Benoit was able to get out in front and paced the field.  Reid challenged early and pulled to the infield with fuel problems around lap nine and only two cautions marred the event. The hard charger was definitely Matthew Bauldwin from Little Rock as he [Read More]

By Edward Anschutz  SEYMOUR, Wis. (May 27, 2022) – One hundred and seventy-six racers checked in to do battle Friday at Outagamie Speedway. Cody Schroeder raced to the lead early during the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. Schroeder looked poised to earn a Kim Parsons Memorial Trophy as he sped away from his competitors. Schmidt never looked back to score his first Modified win at the speedway, to the delight of the hometown crowd. Johnny Whitman made a late-race charge to place second, Marcus Yarie battled all race long to take third, Brian Mullen was fourth and Schroeder completed the top five.   In the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods it was Ryan Schmidt pacing the opening circuits. Gould took the lead for good one lap later and won ahead of Thursday Shootout winner Jeffrey Abbey, who’d loaned him a new carburetor, Blake Clark and 17th starting [Read More]

Clement is IMCA Modified star in Shootout opener at Ardmore

ARDMORE, Okla. (May 26, 2022) – A driver without a plan going into the opening night All Star Shootout feature for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds went home with $1,000 after it.  Mitchell Clement took charge following a restart at halfway, then held off a late challenge from William Gould in winning the Thursday night headliner at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Jacob Pirkle found the fast line coming to the checkers to edge Gould for second-place pay. “I didn’t know what the track was going to do. I didn’t have a plan out there,” Clement admitted after his first feature win of 2022. “I knew the 60 car (Gould) would be coming. He likes it when it’s Baja hammer down like that.” “I was glad we could turn back under him coming out of turn four like that,” added Clement, now eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Clement had passed Pirkle for the point 13 laps into the 25-lapper. Gould made his way from 10th starting and closed to a car length, throwing a slider [Read More]
