IMCA and XSAN represented at PRI show

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The largest sanctioning body in dirt track racing will be represented at the Performance Racing Industry show Dec. 12-14 in Indianapolis, Ind. IMCA, along with broadcasting partner XSAN, will be at booth number 3709, located right inside the front door of the Indiana Convention Center and beside the Speedway Motors booth. More than 1,200 companies will have displays at PRI, the largest trade show in the motorsports industry. From chassis builders to tire manufacturers to parts suppliers, every aspect of motorsports is repre­sented at PRI. Attendees come from all levels of the sport and from around the world.

Thunderhill Raceway drivers’ meeting is Friday, Dec. 13

By Edward Anschutz STURGEON BAY, Wis. – Thunderhill Raceway will hold a drivers’ meeting on Friday, Dec, 13 at The Draft Haus Sports Bar beginning at 7 p.m. Promoter Woody Wodack will have Sonny’s Pizza on hand along with snacks. We are looking for everyone’s input as we plan to make 2014 the best season yet. Lots of big news regarding several track improvements and possible contingencies. We ask pit spots be paid before or at the meeting. Any pit stalls that remain unpaid or open will then go to a lottery of drivers who want to purchase them. Front row spots $100, with second and third rows being $50. The 2014 Street Stock rules will be up for discussion. Champions, top rookies honored at Antioch banquet

ANTIOCH, Calif. (Nov. 23) – Driver Troy Foulger was honored for an unprecedented fourth straight championship at the 2013 Antioch Speedway awards banquet. Champions and rookies of the year in the speedway’s weekly divisions were applauded at the Contra Costa Fairgrounds on Saturday night (11/23). Foulger, 22, who drove a car owned by Billy Bowers, scored five wins and 13 top five finishes in the highly competitive IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified division. He heads to Lincoln, Neb., this weekend to be honored by the organization. Foulger praised the work of Bowers and his crew. “They worked on the cars every night of the week, all season long,” said Foulger. “We sometimes raced both cars, back to back, and it isn’t easy to maintain and race two cars. The 2013 national champions were William Gould, IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds; Justin Kay, IMCA Late Models; John Ricketts, IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars; Brandon Czarapata, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars; Devin Smith, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks; Matt Looft, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods; Gabe Tucker, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods; and Ramsey Meyer, Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Wendt earns LVMS Duel Best Appearing Car honors

By Ryan Clark WILLISTON, N.D. – Although he didn’t experience much success on the track, Darin Wendt left the Duel In The Desert with some extra green in his pocket. The third-year IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified driver from Williston, N.D., won Best Appearing Car honors in the Las Vegas-themed contest at the dirt track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, taking home the $500 top prize in the process. In addition to the cash courtesy of XSAN, Wendt walked away with a trophy and new RACEceiver. Wells Design of Ogallala, Neb., also paid for his 2014 Modified membership license. Wendt spent just 22 nights behind the wheel of his race car this season prior to his trip to Las Vegas. IMCA to honor 40 tracks with sanction awards at national banquet

LINCOLN, Neb. – Forty tracks will be honored with sanction awards during the national IMCA banquet on Saturday, Nov. 30 in Lincoln, Neb. Marshalltown Speedway will be recognized with a 30 consecutive year award for Stock Cars. Tracks receiving 25 consecutive year plaques are Arlington Raceway for Modifieds, Sprint Cars and Stock Cars; the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway and Shawano Speedway for Modifieds; and Jackson Speedway for Stock Cars. Awards for sanctioning 20 consecutive seasons go to Abilene Speedway, Beatrice Speedway, Dawson County Raceway and U.S. 30 Speedway for Modifieds and Independence Motor Speedway and Luxemburg Speedway for Stock Cars. Aztec Speedway and Salina Speedway receive plaques for 20 total years of sanctioning their Modifieds with IMCA. Payne hits another jackpot with fourth IMCA Duel In the Desert victory

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 9) – On a record-setting weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Jeremy Payne extended his own Duel In The Desert record to four. Payne won the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified special at the LVMS half-mile Dirt Track for the fourth time Saturday night in a 40-lapper that ran green to checkered. The $7,777 victory put the Missouri hotshoe on the ballot for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Terry Phillips, Jeff Taylor, Aaron Turnbull and Dominic Ursetta completed the Modified top five. Justin O’Brien started 15th and finished sixth. Phillips, Turnbull win opening night qualifiers at Duel In the Desert

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 7) – Terry Phillips and Aaron Turnbull won IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified qualifying features Thursday, on opening night of the Duel In The Desert special at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The top four from each race advance to Saturday’s $7,777 to win main event on the LVMS Dirt Track. Winner of the 2010 and 2011 Duels, Phillips led Jeff Taylor, Justen Yeager and Kyle Rohleder across the stripe. Turnbull won ahead of Dylan Smith, Jordan Grabouski and Justin O’Brien. Two hundred and forty-seven drivers, representing 21 states and three Canadian provinces, vied on opening night of the 16th annual special. Record 290 pre-entries for Duel In The Desert

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 4) – A record 290 pre-entries have been received for this weekend’s IMCA Duel In The Desert special at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Two hundred and twenty-five IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified drivers from 19 states and three Canadian provinces, and 65 IMCA SportMod drivers from 16 states and two provinces are entered in the Nov. 6-9 special. Wilmot takes point lead to 5MP in finale for IMCA World Products Empire State Series

KIRKWOOD, N.Y. (Oct. 30) – Mike Wilmot left Five Mile Point Speedway with the win on opening night of the World Products Empire State Series back in April. This Saturday night, he has the chance to go home to Windsor as champion of the 12th annual tour for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. Wilmot brings a 13 point advantage over Chris Fleming into the Nov. 2 series finale, during the National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend.
