Deery Series destined for Denison in 2014 opener

DENISON, Iowa (March 26) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series ends an absence of nearly 20 years when the 2014 tour opens on Saturday, April 5 at Crawford County Speedway. The IMCA Late Model series made its one and only appearance at Denison back on July 28 of 1994. Late Models will be paired with IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars for their much-anticipated return engagement. The main event pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Pit gates open at 1 p.m., the grandstand opens at 3 p.m., hot laps are at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 5 p.m. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and free for kids ages five and under. Willamette Speedway hosts April 5 car show

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. – Want to see your favorite race cars displayed right before your very eyes? How about seeing all these drivers on the race track shaking down their mounts? How about all of this all in one day? That’s right, you will see both a car show and a test and tune play date all in one afternoon/evening at Willamette Speedway on Saturday, April 5. The car show will start at noon and last until around 3 p.m. with cars being displayed in the gravel area across from the pit sign-in building. Teams will then be allowed to take their car back into the pit area and get their machines ready for the test and tune session. This session is expected to last from 4 p.m. until dusk. Folks wanting to watch the practice from the main grandstands get in for free while pit passes are $15 and car and driver fees are just $30. BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 18) – NASCAR fan favorite Ken Schrader joins the headline field on Thursday, opening night of the Mid-America Modified Championship special at Batesville Motor Speedway. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 20-22 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified features all pay $1,500 to win, a minimum of $200 to start and are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers. Drivers prepare for Antioch Speedway opener March 15

ANTIOCH, Calif. – Racers will be turning wrenches and cleaning cars late into the night this week to prepare for opening night at Antioch Speedway. The Contra Costa Fairgrounds 3/8-mile banked clay oval has an exciting schedule kicked off by a six-division program on Saturday night, March 15. Champion Troy Foulger, 23, of Martinez will return to competition at his home track driving the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified owned by Oakley’s Billy Bowers. Foulger has an unprecedented four straight track championships and the Bowers car has seven – three with its previous driver, Kenny Neu. The Foulger-Bowers duo returned from a rough season-opening race this past Saturday in Chico, Calif. They chased friendly Oakley foe Kellen Chadwick across the finish line. Car show, test and tune April 12 in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The streets of downtown Independence will soon be filled with the sights and sounds of a new race season during the Indee Drivers’ Day Car Show. The event, which kicks off the 2014 season at Independence Motor Speedway, offers race fans the chance to get a close-up view of this year’s competition and to meet their favorite drivers. It is scheduled for Saturday, April 12. Area drivers are invited to bring their cars to display during the morning-long event. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with the car show running until noon. A number of streets in the downtown area will be blocked off and restricted to race cars and foot traffic that morning. They include 1st Street East from 2nd Avenue NE to 3rd Avenue NE, along with 3rd Avenue NE from 1st Street East to 2nd Street NE. BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 3) – Winter decided it wasn’t ready to give up after all. As a result, the Mid-America Modified Championship special at Batesville Motor Speedway has been rescheduled to Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 20-22. Promoter Mooney Starr said the two-week postponement would allow for optimum track conditions and a better shot at good racing weather.
