
Gould nears 100 IMCA Modified career wins with Ice Breaker sweep
ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 17-18) – William Gould had planned to crew for teammate Matt Guillaume at Abilene Speedway’s season-opening Ice Breaker. He borrowed an engine from Guillaume instead and raced to $700 IMCA Modified checkers Friday and Saturday night, upping his career win total in the division to 98. “Normally when I go to Abilene I run up front or I break,” Gould said. “The track was fast both nights and the preferred lane was on the bottom.” Gould started fourth on opening night and had the lead three circuits into the 20-lapper. Jeff James and Adam Armstrong tussled over second before James gained the runner-up spot for good. Defending track champion Fred Wojtek took fourth. Night two saw Gould draw the pole and lead all 20 laps. Guillaume was second while Josh McGaha and Tyler Iverson completed the top four.
