Hatlestad, Zevenbergen take top checks, Luinenburg, Porter get big Arlington wins

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Sept. 23) – While Clint Hatlestad and Elijah Zevenbergen took $1,500 victo­ries, Justin Luinenburg and Kyren Porter were history-making winners Saturday at Arlington Raceway.

More than 200 cars were in the pits for the season championship night program, held in honor of the late Scotty Schoknecht. Hatlestad topped the IMCA Modified main, earning a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, while Zevenbergen was fastest in an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field pared from 42 entries.

Luinenburg earned his career 100th victory in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature and Porter became the first driver to win an Arlington Raceway track title in the Mach-1 Sport Compact divi­sion.

Curt Lund led the first 11 laps in the Modified main before Hatlestad drove by. Brandon Becken­dorf came from 15th starting to take over second with hard charger Tyler Limoges passing 15 cars on his way to finishing third.

Matt Schauer ran up front early in the Stock Car feature before Zevenbergen weaved his way from ninth starting into the front spot. Dustin Larson followed him to second, Derek Green was third and hard charger Chad Schroeder passed 15 cars to finish fourth.

Luinenburg battled Cory Probst for the Hobby Stock lead before lapped traffic became a factor and edged ahead for career win number 100. Probst and Chris Plamann were next across the stripe.

Alex Dostal led every lap of the Sport Compact main. Alan Lahr was runner-up and Porter se­cured her history-making crown with a third place finish.

Trevor Serbus of Olivia led IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature flag to flag and 10th starting Mat­thew Looft topped the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main.

Neisen aces Arlington IMCA SportMod feature

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Sept. 26) – A Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature that ran green to checkers ended with Chris Neisen in victory lane Saturday night at Arlington Raceway.  Neisen caught Dave Siercks for the lead on lap seven and stayed in front to the finish. Matt Looft started 11th and chased neisen across the stripe. Ninth stating Clint Hatlestad was the IMCA Modified feature winner, Justin Allen paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main and Matt Speckman raced up another IMCA Sunoco Stock Car vic­tory. Cory Probst was the third and final leader in an IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature that saw just a single caution, on the opening lap. Jaedan Erickson topped the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature.

Points battles waged at Arlington Raceway

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 20, 2022) – As the season is winding down, point battles are becoming factors in the racing action at the Arlington Raceway.  Once again, Cory Probst pulled off another win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. There were three different leaders as Cory Black led the first two laps before an early caution. On the restart, Taylor Manderfield took the lead but Probst had worked to the front from his eighth place start. The two raced side-by-side and each took turns leading with Probst passing the flags in first for the last four laps to win the race. Manderfield took second and Jed Trebelhorn took third. Nate Coopman took charge early in the Mach-1 Sport Compact main. The battle was behind him between Brett McConnell, Justin Dose, Gary Shumacher and Jerry Coopman. These four cars jockeyed positions back and forth for the duration with McConnell taking second and Dose third. Schoknecht Memorial is Saturday at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. – More than $20,000 has been added to IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and IMCA Modified purses for Saturday’s Schoknecht Memorial at Arlington Raceway. Stock Cars run for $4,000 to win and Modifieds for $2,000 to win their Sept. 29 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. There’s also extra money to be paid to drivers in other classes during the season championship program, which also features IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Money added to the purse was donated by individuals and businesses in memory of Scott Schoknecht, a friend of many in the racing community who passed away unexpectedly last summer. The grandstand will open at 1:15 p.m. as go-kart heats begin at 1:30 p.m. and their features are at 3:30 p.m. The big track heats begin at 4 p.m. For additional information, check out the Arlington Raceway website or Facebook site.
