Cochrun gets confidence boost and $1,000 from IMCA STARS Mod Lite win at Cocopah

SOMERTON, Ariz. (April 10) – Californian Kaden Cochrun got a big confidence boost and a check for $1,000 for his fourth straight IMCA STARS Mod Lite win in Arizona. The national points leader pocketed a grand for his Saturday Yuma Auto and RV Night victory at Cocopah Speedway. He’d started ninth, passed A.J. Whisler for the lead on the fourth circuit and led to the end of the 25-lapper. Cochrun led by almost a straightaway before the green, white, checkered finish. J.D. New Abilene Race Rads owner brings familiar name to Texas dirt track circles

ABILENE, Texas – A lot of Kyle Wisdom’s racing friends are now his customers, too. The veteran driver is the new owner of Abilene Race Rads, which returns for its second season as an IMCA special events sponsor this year. “We want to keep getting our name out there,” said Wisdom, the 2017 Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod track champion at hometown Abilene Speedway. “The program with IMCA is a great way to help our friends and competitors, and to help the sport keep moving forward.” A casual conversation with Tommy Fain led to Wisdom buying Abilene Race Rads earlier this year. Hubbard gets first RaceSaver win in VA Sprint Series opener

(April 10) – Billy Hubbard has raced stock cars for many years and after stepping into an IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car last year he has been a quick study, sweeping Saturday’s opening night Virginia Sprint Series show at Shenandoah Speedway. Matt Mullins and Hubbard paced the field to green with Hubbard out front first and Mike Keeton hanging close with Jerald Harris getting to third quickly. Hubbard showed lap after lap the car was working as Keeton kept the pressure on and Harris stayed within striking distance of both as the race wore on. Keeton gave it a final push as the laps were winding down but it would not be enough as Hubbard flashed under the checkered flag for his first win in a Sprint Car after many wins in other divisions. At the line it was Keeton, Harris, Bill Rice and Mullins making up the top five. Next week it’s the first dirt race of the season at Natural Bridge Speedway on Saturday, April 17.

TIPTON, Iowa – IMCA Sunoco Late Models are on the Saturday Spring Fling card at Cedar County Raceway, racing for $1,000 to win. The April 10 feature at Tipton pays $100 to start with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and KMJ Performance State points to be awarded. Entry fee is $20 and pit passes are $35. Gates open at 1 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. with racing to follow. Braaksma, Dallon Murty, Bennett, Mallicoat are champions of IMCA Frostbuster Week

VINTON, Iowa – Ethan Braaksma, Dallon Murty, Solomon Bennett and Izac Mallicoat already have championships on their 2021 IMCA resumes. All topped point standings in their respective divisions for the four-race Frostbuster Week, which traveled to Stuart Speedway, Marshalltown Speedway, Boone Speedway and Benton County Speedway. Braaksma, Jake McBirnie, Tim Ward and Cayden Carter were the top four in IMCA Modified Frostbuster standings. Murty’s Frostbuster feature wins at Stuart and Marshalltown provided the tie breaker with his father Damon for IMCA Sunoco Stock Car honors. Jay Schmidt was third while Todd VanEaton ended in fourth, also by virtue of a higher place finish during the week. 2021 contingency forms posted on IMCA website

VINTON, Iowa – 2021 contingency forms for drivers in five divisions are now available through the IMCA website. IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod drivers can access those forms utilizing the Forms pulldown at the top of the home page. Forms can be filled out and returned electronically or printed and mailed to the IMCA home office along with a car photo showing proof of decal placement; drivers may also be required to provide proof of purchase and should keep applicable receipts. Contingency forms must be submitted before the end of the point season on Sept. 26.

Diamond Park sets specials for IMCA STARS Mod Lites

NASHVILLE, Ark. – Taking home the win means taking home $1,000 at three special events this season for IMCA STARS Mod Lites at Diamond Park Speedway. Sweigart finds lightning on top side in Port Royal PASS win

By Frank Buhrman PORT ROYAL, Pa. (April 3) – ‘Nitro’ Nick Sweigart found lightning in the extreme top groove at Port Royal Speedway Saturday night. Sweigart outdueled Dave Grube II, Garrett Bard and the rest of a 54-car Pennsylvania Sprint Series field to win the 20-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature at the Juniata County Speed Palace. The early battle between defending national and series champion Bard and Grube set the initial standard. On lap seven, the inside-running Grube made the lead pass, but Josh Bricker tipped over on the front stretch, bringing out the red and negating Grube’s run. Sweigart joined the fray on the ensuring restart and the leaders pulled away in a furious battle, with Grube running low, Bard high, and Sweigart higher.
